1) you can continue your work as normal as apple can run windows now

2) Apple only have Mac Book or Mac Book Pro

3) if your budget is less than 6K than you only can go for Mac Book but Mac Book Pro is highly recommend

4) nope, you have to install photoshop which is MAC version in your Macintosh

5) KL have quite a lot of shop selling Apple example Low Yat

hope the information I provide will help you....
if any mistake or wrong information I have done, hope all those senior in Mac will help me on it....
thanks smile.gif

khairizha,
You can also get more information from MacAsia @ www.macasia.com.my. Best is if you go into a shop and test a Mac.

The MacBook Pro would be quite suited for you but if your budget is below 6k, I suppose you can go with the MacBook.

you are dealing with video editing and you need a decent graphic card. The Intel 950 built in graphic card is not enough for video editing. you need at least MacBook Pro to do your work and not forget about more RAMs. You should get at least 2GB RAMs

so your choice will be the mid range of MacBook Pro cost RM9799

I think MacBook should be able to meet a student video editing requirement.

I'm using a 3 year old PowerBook G4 and using Final Cut Pro to do my video edits. I'm able to to 2 hour length of video and did not encounter any problem. I'm able to view all my transitions without rendering it first (by holding the apple key and drag the cursor).

All the rendering and DVD authoring will be left for overnight work.

The problem with us humans are that we just want da best all the time. Obviously if u have the budget, go ahead and get the RM10k MBP but the additional RM4k is quite a lot of $ to spend [assuming your budget is RM6k].

I think what you need to do first of all is to set your budget and find a machine that's within that price range. Of course, unless your FA-MA scholarship entitles you to a RM10k notebook then by all means, go for the RM10k MBP smile.gif

Ok, btw, your PowerBook got ATI mobility right? That's alot different if you compare to macbook which is using GMA950 (sux big time if you using it to rendering 3D or sth like that).

TS, i would suggest you choose macbook pro or wait for couple of months(half a year tongue.gif ) for the next generation macbook.

goldfries,
By the time the price drops, you'll be wanting the new released products, isn't it? Hence, again the question of, how does one keep abreast with technology? hmm.gif

Btw, C2D MBP more expensive than CD version? I tot the price similar. It still around RM7k like that. They just "replace" the older technology with new tech, then sell at similar price, right?

allvin,
Yes I believe the CD versions and C2D versions were similarly priced, at least till now where Apple's trying to 'dispose' off their CD units.

I've never been a follower of the Mac machines until recently but I've a feeling the next introduction may come with a little face lift of the current MB/MBP models? And hopefully, they'll be able to find a technology to prolong battery lifespan laugh.gif

I'm still using 1st Gen centrino, and for daily work purposes, it's more than sufficient. Obviously I don't do any video editting/rendering or graphics on this ancient beloved dinosaur of mine whistling.gif
