who care bout diploma, degree or self-taught.
In this field, we care bout quality works.. Show them ur strength & keep their mouth shuts.
Measure the time & materials u need to complete this project. U might need to face some modification to a final image. U can tell em Rm1k including minor changes for twice before deadline. Please specify ur minor changes will cover which area. It's ur painting. Do the adjustment by urself.
If u feel paiseh bout RM1k, make it lower. If the client very happy, they might probably give u a little more. Or looking for u for the next project.
I got this one time charging ppl quite low in a web designing. After he looked at my sincerity in the final works. He plus a few hundred more to show his cherish into my sincerity.

sounds pretty cool.U might get ur first long term client from now on~
give them ur best quality.
Artist or designer's job is neva show them ur unsincerity. Better than u regret later.
Plus, u can still compiles ur works into a portfolio. so, it is no harm to do ur best for them. It is for the sake of ur future's career in another point of view.

it's pretty "common" culture at Malaysia. So, best is u askin for downpayment.
And before u submit ur final works. Watermark every pages. After they complete the final payment, u will submit them a clean version of ur work.
U no need to do this if u r very confidence wif em. When matters involve money, everything could goes twisted.
