i used WinAVI quite a long time ago.
if not mistaken, when u choose to convert into avi, there's an encoding option to choose. u can choose any encoder from the list. be it, DIVX, XVID...etc. but make sure u have the encoder install.

so the answer for u is, Yes, WinAVI uses DIVX to convert files to AVI

If not mistaken WinAVI cannot encode RealVideo in variable bitrate, that is with the extension rmvb. It enocdes in constant bitrate which has the extension rm

i prefer Easy RealMedia Producer for smaller output files. It takes me 3 hours to encode a 45 minutes, 720x480 video.

never compare with WinAVI which encodes to rm file

i use Easy RealMedia Producer. it takes me around 2-3 hours to encode a 25 minutes video

i think u have to add the mp3 track in the Macromedia Flash.

u can make a swf playing music without any animation. so the results is a blank white space with music playing at the background
