Well, i got one. It's a powerful tool for encoding and stuff due to video.

Avisynth and virtualdub. U can load any video format by scripting in avisynth and load into vdub and encode in avi. u can trim part of the video or add some sharpen effect to your video! I'm sure some forumer got use this software right? Very powerful. Don't need to install tons of software. laugh.gif

u guys want to convert what?

If u want rm, rmvb, mkv ( as long as it's not avi format) convert to avi
Open notepad type

CODE

DirectShowSource("sourcepath.rmvb", fps=23.976)
lanczosresize(320,240)

Save it as .avs

Load avs file to virtualdub. And selecting compressor, config the kbitrate for your conversion.

Remember, if u are converting rmvb, the audio format is wave, so the file will be very big. Best is u put another code tag killaudio(). Have to separate convert the audio.

I think you guys better don't use. I'm using it cos' i want a better quality for my mobile phone. The above is a simple avs script i used. please go http://www.avisynth.org/ for more details. Recently i started using avisynth. Quite interesting. I got no problem converting H246/AVC codec in mkv, by using avs script then load into vdub to convert to avi. smile.gif Kinda tedious process.

If wants some easiest, go dl Super converter. It's free, but the process is quite slow smile.gif

pardon me for my ignorance

since IPB only allows at least more than 4 lettert word in the search function, this is my question:

any way to convert *.DAT files to any other format, say *.AVI?

it's not that i've not tried any s/wre at all. but my windows media encoder always fail to convert *.AVI files to any format. It canconvert almost all formats, but not this one

my pc do have all the codecs installed, and can play *.dat files easily

so, englighten me as i have splurged my eyes reading 10 pages of this thread and gave up~

*edit: i'm d/ling winAvi and MediaCoder. trying my luck to convert some indonesian sin chan from .dat to something else so i can compress them on my tiny 128mb sd

Try look for 717 post.

Many software do hav some limitation feature. Better learn how to use avisynth is the best solution. I can convert any video format using that. tongue.gif

Ohh i thought rm should be constant bitrate so din enter convert fps. Thought only rmvb is variable bitrate.
Is fine now.

IIANM, it's depends on your source file smile.gif

I din use changefps() when i convert my anime video (rmvb format). Guess my source file is constant bitrate tongue.gif

About "flip" video....

The source file won't hav flipped version, unless your codec corrupted. I suggest u unistall all your codec, and install k-lite codec. smile.gif
