Hi guys, I'm about to plunge into the world of OLED. Currently still rocking a 10 year old 42" Panasonic Plasma V20.
Looking at the 55" Panasonic HZ1000 or LG CX for my next living room TV and moving my plasma to upstairs living room. Have tendency to choose Panasonic as it has proven to be a reliable brand in my experience but not sure if this still valid for OLED TV.
I will be using for Astro Ultra, blu-ray, Nintendo Switch and PS4/5. So far no 4K until now.
So which one would you recommend? HZ1000 or CX?

First AV receiver that is almost commercially available that can work with HDMI 2.1 correctly. https://youtu.be/u9zJOYLYX_U

Just bought a LG 48" C1 with manufacturing date Sep2021 made in Indonesia.
Anyone having issues playing Astro 4K movies? I get an error that says that TV does not support HDCP 2.

QUOTE(tyja @ Mar 25 2022, 05:10 PM) Guys, still thinking, should i go for 2+3 years warranty? Any advise? If not mistaken, LG only offers 2 years warranty. The additional 3 years is offered by the retailer normally. I'm a bit of a sceptic on how they are going honour the repair. Would they sent it back to LG or find some 3rd party repairer, we'll never be sure.

My LG 48" C1 bought in 2022 already kaput after almost 3 years. Horizontal white lines coming up permanently. A bit disappointed with the longevity of these panels compared to my 14 y.o. Panasonic plasma.
No doubt the picture quality of OLED is undeniable but maybe not suitable for my use case as my TVs are on practically 20 hours daily.
Now trying TCL mini-LED which you need to sit directly in front to see good picture and colour quality.

QUOTE(Lurker @ Sep 27 2025, 09:04 PM) how much 'screen time' accumulated? Oh ... not sure about this. Last year I checked got 5900+ hours. I guess > 12,000 hours since my TV is on consistently on a daily basis (2 years 6 months) QUOTE no more warranty for your C1 during kaput ? No. I naively thought LG panels would last the same as my Panasonic Plasma. So, just LG original warranty of 2 years. I asked LG for a quotation and after sending them photos of the screen problem, they said need to replace panel which will cost me RM3,900++. So, I said forget it.
