been playing with iflix last couple of hours... biggrin.gif

just to share:

.. it says 1 yr free for unifi customers.
.. it says up to 5 devices allowed.
.. it says if already 5 devices, it takes 30 days to remove one, get another device going.
.. i installed on pc, it reads "infinite, expiry 2115". laugh.gif
.. i now have it working on pc, ipad and smart 4k tv.
.. for smart tv, can't get it on playstore direct.
.. i got it on android box, saved the apk, install on smart tv via usb/es file explorer.
.. iflix comes out pretty poor on pc, but comes out quite good on smart uhd4k tv!
.. compared to NETFLIX, it is less friendly with navigation, lack of subs for some videos.
.. reliable, library OK.

iflix is OK, enjoy!

edited:

.. has a small collection of chinese, korean, filipino and malay tv shows.
.. video is basically 480p, ok if tv does a good upscaling job.
.. intermittent hiccups and slow navigation sometimes but overall, acceptable.
.. a much cheaper but lower quality version of netflix.

I tried installing the apk on my Sharp UE630X, after installing the app doesn't appear. Any ideas how to solve this?
*
all apps installed on yr own and not from playstore do not appear on launcher.

after installing the apk with es file explorer, go to settings, apps, select and open it.

have to open it this way every time.

iflix is far less user friendly than netflix.

on ue630x, u will need to use both remote and mouse to get full navigational properties.

I managed to find it, yes you are right it does not show. I'm using a wireless keyboard with built in mouse so it's ok.
*
if u look a little closer, the android in the tv is a lollipop 5.1, 8gb.

just for fun, i installed a few of my fav apps on it, they all work.

which is handy as i can now move some small apps from android box to android tv. wink.gif

I have around 10GB of free space, so I think different models have different memory. Good to know it has the latest Andriod also. Only thing I'm not so used to Android TV, prefer the Android that we use on our phones. There's also a slot to add additional memory via SD Card, did you try using it?

I managed to install popcorn time.. any other good apps to recommend? I actually sold my Xiaomi Mi Box as both apps ie. Netflix and Kodi can be used on the TV.
*
memory... i thought i saw 8gb, then i saw 9.5gb! biggrin.gif

so, not sure if the micro card used is actually 16gb, quite a lot used for total tv/android firmwares, mandatory apps, 9-10 gb is the balance now.

extra sd card.. i tried that before for popcorn on android box, does not work, something to do with i/o protocols. but u can try.

kodi can become a very large file if u keep putting in all kinds of repos and addons.

other apps - u will find some suggestions in the androidbox and kodi threads.

I keep getting WELL, THIS IS EMBARRASSING

Something went wrong with the video you're trying to watch. It'll be ready to play again once we fix the issue.

To report any technical shenanigans, say hi to the code monkeys on our feedback page.

Any ideas on how to fix it?

what device r u using?

iflix does not work on some devices.

i know it works on pc's, ipad's, smart tv's. and some androids, not all.

after a few weeks of playing with iflix, let me share what i know or what i think i know about it...

.. it is auto detect on unifi or (streamyx), it does NOT need email/fb registration.
.. i had used diff dns's, does not seem to matter.
.. 5 devices are allowed to register, i.e. app installed, profile loaded.
.. only 2 devices allowed work at any one time.
.. works on ipad, should be same for all mobile phones and tablets.
.. works in smart tv's.
.. works on some android boxes, does not work on others.

.. common problems - "oops, embarrassing", ask for fb log in, email to register, blank screen, etc..

if the request to register pops up on one device, go to another one that works to delete device that is not working from the profile, wait 10 mins, then try again, i.e. re-register. it worked for me.

I don't know whether to share this for those on 1 mth trial versions , but I'll take the risk of Iflix pluggng the loophole.

Just before your 1 mth Trial ends, clear the Browser cache (Windows, don't know about Android), and start a Trial again. Then give another email address and start another free 1 mth trial.

I will continue doing this every mth until they end their 1 mth free trial campaign  biggrin.gif

on IFLIX:

X-Files, 9 seasons. goes way back, i have all the DVD's. tongue.gif

this is one of the best tv series ever made.

In one of the longest-running science fiction series in network TV history, FBI special agents investigate unexplained, mind-bending cases known as "X-Files." Though the government is convinced that the outlandish reports are false, conspiracy theorist Fox Mulder (David Duchovny) and realist Dana Sc… More
First episode date: September 10, 1993

also watched the 6 episodes season 10 which just concluded.

season 10B or 11 will return later this year or 2017, i am sure. agents mulder&scully, doggett&reyes will probably be in and out as guests stars while miller and einstein take over. rclxms.gif

also on iflix, GODFATHER trilogy. watch this and u dun need to watch any other american gangster/mafia movie. biggrin.gif

Bought back memories of yesteryears. How time has flown,

i checked netflix as well - all 9 seasons in HD, DD5.1.

LOL, that's why after I watched Netflix, I had trouble adjusting back to the poor quality of iflix doh.gif

it's made worst when SD is up-scaled to 4k doh.gif

no doubt. i seem to be addicted to netflix, hardly go to iflix anymore.

to be honest, with netflix (movies, tv series, documentaries) and hypptv (news, living, food, bbc earth shows), even my android box now get less attention.

the root reason: HD-UHD-4K spoils you bad! tongue.gif

I reverse gear... laugh.gif

Becos I gave up Netflix after getting blocked for US content. Not worth RM42 pm for such limited content, which is like 20% of US content for same price.

IFlix... Not too bad and after I checked in detail. They don't have the latest season but have great tv shows like Vikings, Homeland, Arrow, Flash, Person of Interest... which Netflix may not have. Quite a lot of Korean tv series, but lacking in Chinese series.

They are all SD but with upscaling, close to 480p, very watchable.

The apk's do not work on many devices, but works fine on smart tv's, I believe.

Look for version 2.1.10.0. 2.1.11.0 does not work on my tv.

Anyone who knows a great version that works on any android box, please share!

I have never used Iflix, but Unotelly still works with Netlfix for unlocking US content...so I am keeping my subscription.

If you want current TV , Hulu has a great mix with lots of current releases....Blindspot, Jimmy Kimmel, Hells Kitchen, Blacklist, Bachelor etc etc. Some Korean and Chinese dramas too which the wife enjoys.

thanks for info.

i am kinda lazy to go thru vpn, smart dns, credit cards... etc. tongue.gif

just like the idea of hassle free.

moreover, i seldom run out of things to watch.

with hypptv, iflix, android apps and torrent, will never run out of things to watch. biggrin.gif

I'll consider Iflix if they ever bump up their Audio and Picture quality.
*
video... may depend on the particular video, device or tv.

some have commented poor video on their tv's/pcs.

but i find many videos acceptable on my smart tv.

i guess with upscaling, it can get close to 480p.

stability - yes. watched several episodes of documentary, no problem.

I have concerns with 720p or low bitrate 1080p files on a 1080p TV... Can't imagine "close to" 480p on a 4k TV...  shocking.gif
*
trust me, it's not bad.

and i am not one that takes low standards. biggrin.gif

but have to say, that applies to some videos, not all of them.

all these while I am able to access iflix without login with the iflix apps on android TV box, but now it prompted me to login in.... what happen?  anyone can help?

Email iflix support, so far no reply yet.  and can't find any phone number to call the support.

i assume u r tm customer, 1 yr foc...

yes, this issue is common, seen it before.

same box? did u use iflix in other devices?

i think it is due to the lag iflx has in determining how many devices u have installed iflix. if it exceeds the limit, it will block u this way. need to remove one or two, deregister, wait for it to clean out. time required... i have read 1 day, 1 week, 1 month, it's unclear!

the best way to deal with this is to deregister from all yr devices totally, start again. that's what i did, able to get two devices working again right after that.

I see, am using 2 iPads and 1 TV Box at home to watch.  All these while it is ok, until yesterday nite.

Btw, how to deregister?

I did not register so far, when first download the iflix apps on my Android TV Box, straight away I can watch movie on iflix without registration.

Max, is 2 devices at any time rite?

btw, thanks for replying
*
If TM customer, no need to register. They auto register when any device of yours access it.

I think android cannot deregister, ipad not sure. I did on pc. Can check iflix website for instructions too.

i have a confession to make...

i like to eat and cook a bit. biggrin.gif

and i recommend these two food series on iflix:

.. destination flavor japan - great series to understand japanese food, the ingredients, techniques, the culture, etc.
.. ask the butcher - wonderful series on meats - lamb, pork, poultry, beef... final episode on wagyu is mouth watering. laugh.gif

they are in SD but with good upscaling, more like 576p. so, good enough.

if you find those two interesting, i suggest u go to netflix and watch:

.. cooked - highly educational, "you are what you eat",
.. mind of a chef - the secrets of some foods, what world class chefs are experimenting with.

enjoy!

How. to obtain the username and password sifu? Also does it work on Android box instead of tm STB box?

Asking on behalf of friend...😊
*
this question has puzzled a lot of people. but not me. biggrin.gif

there is no need for id/password.

iflix auto detects - once it detects unifi, qualified, subscription valid (or still free), it just work.

tm stb - dunno.

android box - some work, some don't... like aotg, hypp e'where.

works fine with smart tv, tablet and phone - all auto detect if on valid unifi, ethernet or wifi.
