QUOTE(acbc @ Nov 18 2023, 11:49 AM) I have been wondering why many of my old W7 machines unable to activate W10. Oh well, back to W7 since I have the restore DVDs. yes, it's closed last month, officially. the free upgrade from w10 to 11 is still valid. you had 8 years to do that. i'm surprised that you can still miss it.

Then the go back to windows 7 does not appear, i was thinking the installation was bugged, clean install win 7 and then try to upgrade again and failed miserably. and then i am here... this time the go back to windows 7 option is there so i will just restore it... is there any reliable antivirus still supporting windows 7? maybe a browser as well, since chrome already dropped support for windows 7...

On a second tot, even if unactivated, seems like restricted for personalisation setting like back ground only. For the better security, just use with restricted functions until it die may not be a bad idea

QUOTE(horns @ Jan 15 2024, 06:05 PM) yes. however i have made adjustments because i wanna have unallocated space for ssd's over provisioning. i encounted error and then followed that tutorial. that was when i found there's another WinRE partition. looked like windows update created another WinRE but the new one didn't have enough space either. i read one suggested solution was to increase WinRE partition to 750mb. that solved it. i also deleted the old WinRE partition and then moved the unallocated space towards primary and the new WinRE.
