MAS Enrich Miles is such a con job.

Just tried using my Miles Points to book a ticket to Thailand.

Tix to Bangkok = 17,000 Points
(17,000 Enrich Miles is Equivalent to about RM 300 in voucher terms. ie. Jusco Voucher/MAS voucher/Isetan voucher)

After using Miles to redeem air ticket fare, still need to pay 'Fees + Taxes', which amounts to RM460

So the total cost is 17,000 Points + RM 460

If go MAS website do a normal booking................ same day, same time, same flight...... = RM 414/- sahaja !

all airlines miles is a conjob. some airlines is worst than the rest.

and oneworld is a more of a con alliance compare to skyteam and star alliance.

i flew so many mas flights with my qr card, but mas never approve any of miles earned. even i do re-tro claim with qr, they say mas didn't approve it saying it is a discounted fare. so mas expect you to pay rm 2k for full fare economy flight to jakarta to be eligible for one world miles accumulation? that is a joke.

skyteam is much better, fly china airlines with my klm card, automatically reflect and renew my klm miles for another year.

star alliance will process all flights within partner airlines without doubt, you will get some miles out of all flight unless the flight already mentioned no miles earned.
same as skyteam.

but one world, meh, mas never processed any miles for qr i believe.

Then MAS did a great job.
The fella that did this plan should be given a Medal.

Gotta pay full-fare only can earn miles.
After earn miles then redeem tix, gotta extra for 'fees & taxes'.
Then the 'Fees & Taxes' is more expensive than online Normal booking.

Might as well just book normal tix.

Psst, that's why you see so many people selling MAS miles in garage sales.

MAS miles is useless.
Krisflyer miles anytime is better than MAS.

I have been using MAS for quite some time and earn GOLD status for 3 years straight. You don't need to purchase full fare tickets to earn miles. Those who did not get their miles credited just e-mail and call them with proof of purchase (Boarding pass, E-tix number etc).

Some times if your enrich account name did not match your ticket name (first and last name swapped for example) their system will not capture it. I have a couple of friends who experience the same problem and MAS/Enrich credited their miles/sector points accordingly.

in the case of redeeming miles point for flight tickets, it seems there's a few destination that is not worth redeeming, esp thailand. I don't know why but it is always better to purchase normally.

However, destination like Japan, HK, London etc, I personally can vouch it is cheaper. with my miles point of about 100K, i can go to Tokyo return and only need to pay RM160.

I hate to come to the defence of MAS. That's the last thing I want to do.
But in December 2013 and January 2014, I did receive Enrich miles for my flights with QR. For KL-Doha, I got 916 points elite miles. Since there was a promotion, I received 1832 enrich miles.

However, I also retro-claimed miles for flight with their partners. They were so slow in doing their work and took more than 6 months. First, they said eligible and I got miles, but then deducted again because they said, after checking, not eligible.
Say early lah so that I can claim with other FFP, but it was after 6 months already so can't claim miles with another FFP. vmad.gif vmad.gif

this is not defence of mas, but you are promoting QR.
You are using Enrich FFP to travel on QR right?
QR is giving you miles by telling MAS about it.
I have no doubts about QR, they are one of the best FFP programme around.

However, you can hardly get any miles from MAS when using another oneworld FFP.

yes indeed. So nowadays, I avoid MAS if I can and collect points only with QR.

add on to my story: Actually, I checked before I submitted my retro-claim. I knew I was eligible for miles. Then MAS answer was, the booking class written on my boarding pass is wrong, instead my actual booking class is not eligible for enrich miles. Not sure true or not but I have no way to verify. When they initially credited me the miles, it was almost 6 months; then when they deducted my miles, it was already over 6 months so I can't claim with another airlines.

The flight was within Europe and it cost €150. Not even cheap but I still didn't receive any miles. vmad.gif vmad.gif

Now I'm QR all the way and soon will be a silver member. rclxm9.gif
Been with Enrich for so long but never got to silver status.

TSOM it's possible. Some carriers only print the 'class of service' on the BP (e.g. Y for economy, J for biz), but the actual fare class is different. Best way to know for sure is the eTicket.

anyway, it's too late now. If I had known the booking class not eligible for MAS enrich miles, would have chosen another airlines instead since it was a paid journey. When purchasing the tickets, I don't think I saw the booking class. Only after e-tkt is issued that I can see the booking class.

MAS should have also confirmed faster with me mah .... sad.gif took 4 months for verification!!
Otherwise I can still claim with another airlines FFP.

Seems Enrich is not so worthy, anyone tried to actually accumulate miles on other airlines (under Oneworld) when fly with MAB? Any recommendation on which airlines FFP is worth to accumulate elite and miles under Oneworld?
