hi guys, just wanted your opinion. Recently i noticed in a lot of ID show rooms and also in a lot of ID from HabitatMY, they are using the type of ball (like in the picture) type of downlight for almost the entire house (living dining and kitchen) instead of those traditional 12W 4" led downlight..... any pros and cons of it ?from the look... it does look nice.. but was wondering if it is too "focused" ....

Not sure about the pro but the bad thing is if 1 side of the light is dead you have to change both

hmm but they also have a single bulb version... exactly the same .. it has a more focused light... no one uses this in the place of normal downlight ?

Can't really see from your picture but if I guess correctly you are asking about something like a tiny spotlight MR16 bulb?

The difference is the effect. Those normal downlight lights the room evenly. They are also much brighter. The eyeball you are talking about uses a MR16 bulb with different angle spread of the the light beam. Instead of an even light, you get pools of lights.

My apartment uses these kind of eyeballs. I much prefer pools of light as compare with even lighting

sharp on the eyes. stinging to most.

eyeball usually spread spectrum very concentrated. meaning u get a streak of light instead of the usual whole area. so the focus beam good for highlighting something, like a display vase or painting or some art thing, or some diy structure thing.

Dunno if you can see the effect here. This is what I mean by "pools of light". Some spots are darker.
Obviously this is not everyone's cup of tea. Most prefer bright even lighting. Pools of light creates more atmosphere I guess

This is not LED. And has a shorter lifespan. Consume more electricity too.

Had many of this previously. Now all changed to LED. 5w, 7 or 9w type. Not cheap though.

But previously had to change Bulbs regularly and pretty hot nad high electricity bill. rclxub.gif

Im using same lighting as u in my living and dining area. it makes my interior looks more expensive then it is. i really like it. i bought it from philips (LED light bulb) cost about RM55 per piece only.

my advice to others, dun buy 'no brand' LED bulb. philips can last for few yrs.. 'no brand' got to change it every yr.

My kitchen is super tiny but it's sufficient
