at last i go with flair pro 2. now looking for a grinder. i think i just pair it with the jx pro. can last longer. need to practice the preinfusion, bar monitoring, grind size, tamping hard or not, roast level, etc.. they said the practice can last till about 1month before can get used to the machine characteristic.
*
Nice Nice. Good choice thumbup.gif
I am using the jx pro as well biggrin.gif
My espresso maker is cafelat robot.

cafelat robot i heard better than flair. but it is not within my budget. so i have to ignore it.

hows the jx pro? does it worth the money to spend for high end manual grinder? im planning on using the flair+grinder for at least 5years or more. i dont like to buy something that feel the need to upgrade within short time. im the type of let the items be abit expensive, but worth ur money
*
The jx pro is a great grinder.
Near zero retention.
I can use it for 5 to 10 years.
Grinds 17g in 30 to 40 seconds.

May I know where u bought the robot locally and for how much?
That grinder is so cool, I'm almost afraid to ask how much it costs. ..thanks for sharing tho.

Mine bought from https://www.cafelatstore.com/collections/fr...otpowdercoating
but will incur tax sad.gif

there is someone selling it in shopee
https://shopee.com.my/Cafelat-Robot-Manual-...6218.6059299302
cheaper since no need to pay tax

Hi,

I am a beginner looking for a espresso machine

My budget is around rm700-1500

Is there any decent coffee machines out there that are highly recommended?

First of all, what grinder are you using?

Pre-ground coffee – Once you grind your coffee beans, start the countdown! Ground coffee starts to lose its aromatic and flavor intensity after 30 minutes. This is why you should avoid buying pre-ground coffee as much as possible. Invest in a home coffee grinder for the freshest cup of coffee every time.

I don't know if anyone else is using Cafelat Robot besides me.

Personal tip: preheat the piston

A preheated piston extracts faster.
You can grind a bit finer to compensate the time if you are extracting too fast.

1. Erm not sure the good result you meant, is how good, since the portafilter you used is double-spout type instead of bottomless. If possible do the same steps and using the same grind size, this time with bottomless portafilter.
2. It is weird to me that you never go for at least espresso-capable handgrinder, since you already got a semi-auto which using 58mm standards. (with dual boilers if I not mistaken), and call it workable routine?
3. Just to let you know, after I tried my nearest coffee roaster's freshly roasted espresso beans, I could never go back to Sol/Mister Coffee, unless I down-grade my machine to Flair NEO.
4. Freshly-roasted whole beans beats Ground coffee anyday.
5. if you insist of using pre-packed ground coffee, I suggest you downgrade your machine as your current will be giving you more chores/hassle to dial in.

Just to share my experience on MisterCoffee whole beans for Flair espresso maker:

1. Delonghi KG89 before modding: failed + a mess
2. Delonghi KG89 after modding: spraying jets and dripping channeling, 30% of the time lucky get jet-free extraction
3. Kinu M47 classic: Ultimate grinder which adjust the dial for every beans I encountered so far, be it pourover or espresso.
4. 1zpresso JE-plus: Your most affordable budget handgrinder which done a very good job on espresso dial-ins.
5. After tasted other better roasted, fresher beans, I find MisterCoffee beans is only good for basic espresso dial-in practice.

Electrical version of espresso capable grinder => Eureka Mignon Specialita at least I suggest, to save you a lot of trouble for different type of beans.

are the MisterCoffee beans freshly roasted?
Roast upon order?

I'm using 1Zpresso JX pro hand grinder.
Can say is zero retention.
I use the brush and clean off any coffee grinds after every use.

Now I even roast my own coffee beans biggrin.gif
Freshly roasted freshly ground. Can't get any fresher than that laugh.gif

Thanks for your suggestion =D.
Flair definitely has an edge in maintenance. Do you have both? Is the quality of shots from the Flair comparable with Gemilai's? And is that applicable to both the Pro 2 and Signature/Classic or only the Pro 2?
The flair 58 is RM2.2k >.<. RM900 more than Flair Pro2 which perhaps for my use may be too expensive, esp since I'm only beginning in the hobby.

How about Cafelat Robot? šŸ˜†
Can get from shopee at rm1.7k

Personally I am using Cafelat Robot with JX pro. 😁

The type of bean affects the bitterness as well.
Robusta will be more bitter.
Arabica will be smoother.
Dark roasts will be more bitter.
Medium roast is more balanced.
Grind coarser.

Sometime too fresh is not good..
Even some of my fav v60 beans usually i aged it to 3 weeks
*
I usually let it rest 1 week.
Most common recommendation is to let freshly roasted coffee beans rest 5 to 14 days.

All the time! Best kopi peng!

It seems it even has a name....dirty coffee/espresso.

I have tried espresso with warm milk vs with cold milk.
I like the taste with cold milk better than with warm/heated milk.
Mine is a manual espresso machine, doesn't have a steam wand.

I don't put any sugar in my coffee.

Maybe it is just me, but I find the taste is better, the coffee taste stronger biggrin.gif

Hey guys I just got into espresso (been V60 and Chemex for 15 years).

I have a Flair 58 and an 1Zpresso J-Max which I love, but my wrists are starting to hurt due to having to crank two shots every morning. Not the best experience. Any recommendations for good grinder with low maintenance but high reliability? The Niche Zero at a bit over 4k is attractive, but I fear that if it breaks down I won't have anywhere to go to service it. Eureka Mignon line has a lot of models and idk what the differences are aside from their flat burr sizes... any tips welcomed, thanks!
*
I have a Cafelate Robot and was using a 1Zpresso JX PRO.

Recently bought a DF64 gen 2 grinder at 1.4k biggrin.gif

Ooh nice bro, I was also looking at the same seller but at DF64V since can change to lower rpm to reduce fines for filter use smile.gif did you upgrade burrs to SSP or use stock?

Also: Any feedback on the seller? Are they official distributor or something? As I’m in Penang it would be good to know they can do warranty claim if I ship the thing back to them if shit happens.
*
I am using stock burrs.
I only grind for espresso.

They give 1 year warranty.
Not sure if they are official distributor or not but they have been selling DF64 grinders for some time smile.gif
