How come when I download from xiaomi, i get a tgz file instead of a compressed file?

Do i still need to unzip this tgz file?

Let me attempt this :

1) Get 3GB RAM variant if u r worry about lag. The R3S has quite slow SoC. Heavy background apps can affect its performance dramatically.

2) My award for "Best Budget over Performance of 2016" is Redmi Note 3 Pro 32gb. Redmi 3S won my "Best 5 inch Battery Backup of 2016". M8 and Nexus 5X is at different leagues. But if you can get 2nd hand M8 or 5X for RM600, go get M8 or 5X.

3) "This" phone as Redmi 3S. "This" phone does not have the sharpest screen resolution. So, 5" screen at 720P resolution may not be enough for you. You also need to pay attention on the telco that u subscribe. If webe, this phone is not in their list. Since "this" phone is from Xiaomi, local warranty may be ur priority as it is easily to get lemon unit out of the box. It has important sensors like compass &  gyro. But no NFC for future usage. Overall, Redmi 3S is suitable for ppl who want to try Android and treat it as secondary / backup phone. Get the Redmi Note 3 Pro 32gb if looking for daily driver.

- ROM most probably tempered and can't OTA. With ads, spams and bloatware. You'll stuck in this ROM forever unless re-flash to other reliable ROM(s).

- 2-pin flat prong charger. If reseller bundle adapter, no need to buy adapter.
- All booklets are in Simplified Chinese characters.
- Supplier warranty is dodgy (subjective...).

just bought redmi3s for my wife. Previously i tested my frens one with YES 4G and it works. But that one was MIUI7. Now i just updated my wife's one to MIUI8. I changed locale to India (info from RN3 thread). but i cant get Yes4G now.
Anyone use Yes4G with R3S here?
