QUOTE(remix10 @ Dec 5 2024, 12:18 AM)
hi there, recently engaged a one stop design + reno firm and got a quotation that went above my budget (and they are not really budging on the price unfortunately)
just wanted to do a sanity check by just taking one item out of the quote to see if it's above market rate cause this is my first time doing a house reno

shoe cabinet: melamine finish, swing doors with soft closing hinges, measurements: 2700mm (W) x 600mm (D) x 850mm (H)
cost: RM9,500 inclusive of design, production and installation

would be super helpful if there's any sifus here that can advice if this pricing is reasonable?

thanks! smile.gif

he not only do the shoe rack right , what else other jobs he provide ?
because contractor or ID , of course they know client easy get the quote for the Kitchen and wardrobe
both of this item quote the normal price or under market price make you feel cheap
then other item like tv console , partition etc to raise up the total price for average back the profit
by the way this shoe rack provided by ID+one stop design is reasonable

@feifeikon, thanks for the info, at least we can do some price comparison and estimate from the above
*
Welcome, but make sure u ask your contractor to quote a final price for u.
Some contractor they offer very cheap price in prf, when come to final total amount you have to pay, they add this and that.
Finally ur price is much more higher.

Contractor's attitube is very important. biggrin.gif

Just wish to clarify the above, that is just price per sq ft for the
granite countertop right? Excluding any cabinets? one of your posts above you said granite price was RM550 psf. Here you said it is pfr. So, is it pfr or psf?

The price applies to all kinds of granite or is this an average price?
*
Ya, pfr means calculate by 1 ft run.
For example, if the cabinet 5 ft length and it cost rm200 pfr, ----> rm200 x 5 = rm1000

In the other hand, if calculate in psf, it means 1ft x 1ft = 1 fts.
For example, if the cabinet 5 ft length and 2 ft width and it cost rm100 psf, --------->rm 100 x (5x2) = rm1000

Have a nice day~

all the sifu here, pls advise on this.

Just got my key for my new house in KL. it is a condo. For the renovation, we are having challenges. Trying to add new power socket around the house as the existing is not sufficient. about 7 power socket. we need to add additional but management office not allow us to conceal the wire, want us to use pvc casing. The condo is about RM500k per unit, and going to spend about RM 50k for renovation. it is very ugly to add additional power socket with the pvc casing. reason not allow us to do wall chasing is because all the walls in the unit is RC wall. Reinforced Concrete Wall

Want to get Sifu advise if really cannot do wall chasing/hacking the wall to extend the power socket location?
*
now quite common in Malaysia , Singapore many year ago adopt this method
like wire aircone pipe also cannot hacking need box up on the ceiling to cover it .
you can do concept "industry"
make plaster ceiling hide the wire then using GI conduit to lay down the socket or switch

or before that design cabinet properly wire able conceal inside the cabinet also another option

Not looking to do anything major, and my condo is still under construction but just asking for advice if its possible within this budget
*
yes sure no problem , but other then built in cabinet ,
you have to do calculation for those appliances , loose furniture sofa , bed , aircon , lighting around 25k.

Any recommendation ? My existing house, after few years.. some have gap in between, kind of blaming the Contractor did not use glue to seal the joint during the installation.
*
normally no glue the joint , the best solution is dismantle flooring and install wood texture tiles then can last longer .
