Be it a Myvi, a Kancil, a Ferrari or a Bugatti, as long as it's ours, it's a source of pleasure, pride and joy. Share some photos and pictures of your new rides with us - and don't worry about the butthurt, this thread will remain a positive and encouraging one. There's already too much hate out there, there ain't gonna be any in here!

Well, if you don't mind, you are more than welcome to post pictures of your present drive, for instance, when it was first bought and you took photos of it at the dealership, or you just modified something to your ride, and you took photos of that too... it's all about sharing our passion, that's all. This thread is not about who has more money or owns what car - we are all petrolheads in our own ways, and I thought it would be nice just to showcase our passion.

Wow. Thank you for posting the picture y_boy! The photo of your interior is memang bestest! What car is it? All LED?

I'll share with you a picture of my previous F30 316i which I bought in 2013 and sold in 2014. It was a good drive but I felt it was a little too basic for me:
user posted image

And this was the modification I did for it:
user posted image

I added in BMW LED door projectors. The photo on the left is stock door lights. The photo on the right is after the BMW LED door projectors were installed. Did this at the car park of my cluster house. That's about the limit of my modification abilities haha.

I really like the look of the new Honda City. It's so much better than the previous couple of generations. Looks damn sleek - like it's an easily 250km/h car man!

I changed to 21" for my old F02 730Li - took a photo of that as well haha:

Thanks for sharing! No ride is too humble or too small or too old for this thread. I honestly feel we, as car owners, are already very privileged and having worked hard, saved hard and spent so much for our cars, we definitely feel a certain sense of pride and accomplishment - our cars can be, in a way, a projection of our personalities and our achievements and our success. Keep it up!

Last time, I changed from the RFT (run flat tyres) to the 21" pneumatic ones for the F02 730Li because I was too hasty. Bought the F02 730Li and immediately brought it to the tyre shop. Then, regret because wife kept kerbing the rims - sakit hati. 21" inches really not easy to handle!

This time, both my G12 740Li and incoming W222 S400L (non-hybrid) are clad in 19" only. I will NOT be upgrading to anything bigger. Learnt my lesson already. I'll be like you, change only when botak. No more itchy backside.

Congratulations toonny - your new Mazda is gorgeous, and I really like your style. Funny how we think of our cars in the feminine. No wonder my wife is so jealous that I spend so much time and $$$ on the cars!

ALL car pictures are welcome - new and old rides. For the old rides, they've given us so much pleasure, given us such faithful service, we cannot ignore or forget their hard work hahahaha. For the new rides, of course, the new leather smell, the new sexy curves... well, we're smitten, and rightly so!

And thanks for the compliments on the Mazda 3. I do treat every of my ride as the precious one.. Just unfortunately, I'm unable to keep them all..

And I am agreed on what you mentioned. We learnt so much from the old rides. It is one kind of special relation and experience which make us care and love our next car more.

Haha. Each car is special to me, personally. We all have emotional ties to our rides, in our own special ways.

No exotics for me - while the cost of my garage could easily buy me Prancing Horse or a Raging Bull, I am only too well aware of the kind of hopeless driver I am: I would be a disgrace to the cars, and the car's potential would be far more than my meagre ability to handle them and do them justice. So, it's just the mainstream brands for me, and I'm happy with them smile.gif

My tire had a bump on the side wall and a few people I know told me to get it changed ASAP so I did, but I didn't know directly underneath the bump on the tire, was this huge dent. I've yet to fix it since they were going to charge me a ridiculous amount just to fix that dent.

Thanks so much for sharing your beautiful ride. Sorry to read about the side wall dent on your rims. You might wanna seriously take a look at it, because the wheel balance may be affected, especially at high speeds - and I know the Fiesta can go quite fast!

Beautiful interior (blue looks really good on this car), and tastefully modded!

No, not really. I'm happy to keep to mainstream continentals. They allow me to enjoy a degree of luxury without appearing too ostentatious and they also confer a certain degree of anonymity to the driver - truthfully, there are so many of them on the streets in Singapore, I don't have to worry about sticking out like a sore thumb. Low profile is good, especially in my case.

This was the first BMW that I bought - the E65 730i short wheel base. Bought it back in 2008, loved the drive, took it from Singapore to Ipoh a few times, even drove all the way to Penang. Best time from Singapore to KL was 2hrs and 45mins. These were the days before AES, and the speedo hardly dipped below 180km/h on the NSHW. Ah... The memories of a younger time...

Hi guys,

Awesome thread wobbles and I must say many of us must be jealous of your fleet of vehicle. Wonder what's your day job whistling.gif

This was what I used to drive. a '95 Wira 1.6 Xli. It was my dad's and it was passed to me in 2010. Converted to manual in 2013. Too bad I had to let her go and forget about her due to some reason which is not my fault at all.. I'm gonna miss how I travel with her and my GF & all those touge days cry.gif cry.gif

When it was standard gaban blush.gif

Thanks for posting bryan2jzgte! That's a fantastic write up! May I ask, in that photo of your "last picture of your Wira", the beams look super bright. Did you put aftermarket HID Xenon lights? I'm also impressed about the way you put coilovers and changed the rims, amongst other things. Makes the Wira looks fierce smile.gif

And congratulations on your new car as well! Turtle Wax wash & wax... wah, I can definitely see you sayang your ride, as we all should haha!

AE101, even without blacktop engine, is a pleasure to drive. Its power delivery, stability and handling is so delicious, you will never regret buying it.

This is my new ride.
Accord 2.0 gen 7.

Got it for a reasonable price.
Everything is stock. Clocked 170,000km.
Parts that I have replaced other than engine Oil and oil Filter are 4 new tires, engine top cover gasket, front absorbers, atf, atf filter, spark plugs, some blown bulbs, air intake hose. Diy throttle body cleaning and some minor touch ups.

Paint job is still good for a 11 years old car. Plan to ultimate compound the whole car to remove the swirls. I have been washing it with 2 bucket method & Spray wax after every wash.

Gear change is smooth, 5 speed AT and the ride is very comfortable. Engine vibrates a little when the ac compressor kicks in, might need to change the engine mounts when it gets worse. Only complain is the road tax.. RM3xx per year. Fc is about 10.5-11 km/liter for 70% highway.

Hi wobbles. Thanks for the comments. Yeap, it's those aftermarket HID kits. I've adjusted the projection to make it lower + added a glare shield but it's still really bright. Its supposed to be 4200k yellowish white by the way. Must be the crappy K750i I was still using back then LOL. Before anyone flames me, I dont really use them unless during Touge or dark roads where I need brighter lights for visibility. I usually use my fog lights to avoid getting 'middle-fingered' everywhere I go icon_rolleyes.gif

Yeap, I wash and wax myself once every week. Initially planned to do a layer of coating but after much consideration, I decided not to mainly because it will burn a freaking big hole in my pocket. Why not save up the few thousand ringgit and regularly wash and wax myself? It's more fun to DIY and it makes you love it even more rclxms.gif

By the way, are you a bank manager or something? I bet you earn more than a majority of us YEARLY than you do in one month rclxub.gif

Thanks. Yes, there's just wife and me. No kids. She will drive th W222 S400L when it arrives after CNY, I'll drive the G12, F15 and F13 for now. It is likely that I'll end up letting the older cars go - to be sure, it's fun to be able to change different cars for different needs, but to be honest, all my cars have pathetic mileage. Less than 7000km per year sad.gif.

Haha, sounds fun!

I think my display picture is the face lifted 6 series. Not mine yet as i'm still under 30 years old tongue.gif

The Camry in the attachment is my car and this was taken right after i took it back from the paint shop, hence the shine biggrin.gif

Excellent, excellent! You're very young and already you own a Camry! Well done. The car looks spotlessly shiny.

Thanks for correcting me - I noted the adaptive LEDs which were a bit different from my pre-face lifted 640i's adaptive LEDs, and VERY different from my F01's bi-xenon. Wasn't sure whether it was the new 6 or the LCI 7's. Thanks for the clarification:)

thought its only me. yup totally feels unstable @140 and above.
the car feels so light and almost like tiptoeing on the road. btw the car have the 185/15 tyre.
if serious about having this car i suspect the 205/16 would be the best bet.

It's a great car, love it every moment! Even better with the 6 speed manual! It was only just recently converted after having 2 year's worth of paddleshifting, and originally it was silver haha.

wobbles wow, thank you sir! The name is a little rude, but as branding goes, it kinda stuck :-) This was a 3-door Polo GTI which I eventually sold (yes, for a Golf GTI) as I needed more space. Hey, it made (some) sense at the time laugh.gif

Truthfully, I loved my little pocket rocket. It was small, but sharp and perky, and never failed to deliver thrills on any given road. The bigger GTI has more power, goes faster, drives better... but is less raw, less fun.

Oh, and lovely little MX5 above. Nice paintwork too - is that a dark purple, or mocha?

Thanks!
It's a great car, love it every moment! Even better with the 6 speed manual! It was only just recently converted after having 2 year's worth of paddleshifting, and originally it was silver haha.

Now THAT's what I'm talking about sir! You're living the life, and I think the little peppy MX-5 is more than an adequate replacement for the C-class in terms of drive and the ability to toss the car around those bends! Thanks so much for sharing!!

wobbles wow, thank you sir!

*
Your Polo looks nice smile.gif I believe I saw your Polo on sale before in my FB newsfeed...or was it a website?
EDIT: Just realised you own MTHRFKNWIN which is where i saw it
As for my paint, it's the BMW Marrekesh Brown, not a standard colour haha.

I somewhat miss the choo-choo turbo on the C-class haha, it's a great daily car!
I sold it to get my dream MX-5 haha and it's also a great daily car (for me at least). I don't haul as much things, fits one or two bags for travel, and could carry big items in the passenger seat...albeit with the roof down sometimes haha.

This is a Lamp yes, was also listed on my site for sale and remained unsold for about 8 months before I got lucky. Haha.

Any chance you have more pics of your ride? Full car? The colour really is nice, definitely very unique.

Oh, very random but I also remember running into the MX5 club last year at Sepang, during the Merdeka event. I believe they left much rubber behind laugh.gif

Honda City is a reliable car indeed! My wife used to drive a Honda City back in 2000 - clocked 80000km a year, mostly driving up from Singapore to KL and down again, as we were making the big move back then smile.gif - I think hers would be at least 3 generations prior to yours smile.gif - brings back good memories... This is a question to those who can afford multiple luxury car

Why stick to a common luxury car maker? Is it for reliability? Ease of mind? Etc. Or because this common luxury brand are the best car maker?

You are a very lucky man! Whenever I bring up the idea of a convertible, say something as simple as a Boxster, she will give me that look of disdain and say something to the tune of "you so old already still want to act young and drive topless issit?" And the conversation dies right there haha

Pretty much the standard out look about life by society. Or scared that that 'old man' gets seduced by young girls?? 😎😂
Life is short, celebrate life as much as you can within means.
Work hard and enjoy the reaps of its fruits. Firstly, it's also a passion thing. I like to drive n travel on the road. It's the journey I do enjoy.

It's not about style nor to please society or my peers. The partner too likes my travels adventures. Even in simple 'long kai' 😋

Though it not necessarily suited for all. Some may see it as a lifestyle thing to own a 'convertible'. Perhaps it is to some. I take it as my hobby, an extension of myself.

Wobbles: your wife is funny on that part!

But age is not an issue for driving fast cars or sports cars or convertible. Safety is the important rule besides living life to the fullest whether one drives a continental/japanese/korean/local/sports/convertible car.

Got a neighbour who is in his 60s-70s (age not sure but should be around there) and he drives a Ferrari. See him zoom about in his Ferrari occassionally.

I know of 2 guys who both drove a Lotus car on road and off road. However they have passed on but they have lived their lives to the fullest. (One of the guys is an old gentleman in his late 60s I believe)

Let me share some of the cars I used to own.
I love cars ....

Attached Image

I first used the E36 325 and when I bought the E46 325 SMG, my wife used the E36.
Both has been sold since. I only kept the E46 for a year as the SMG had problems and could not be repaired satisfactorily despite spending many thousands on it. Jerk g when moving from standstill.
These are the last BMW I will own - already swore of them.

Picture was taken at the washing bay of my condo after washing both.

This is my first sport car proper - the iconic Lotus Elise !
Used it for 2 years but found it under powered - and the rest of the Lotus guys were upgrading to the Exige which is much more powerful.
Not an easy car to control though especially in the wet - lots of twitching at the rear.

After selling the Elise, I bought the Exige 240.
Really fast car 0 to 100 in just over 4s.

I imported quite a bit of carbon fibre parts for this car from UK.
Used it for 3 years and 15k km and sold it because I find that I don't use it enough to - too difficult to use in KL traffic and the warranty expired - car has no mechanical problems though - just don't want to be troubled by any problems - like the BMW I used to own.

More on the Exige.
I had the opportunity to meet Jean Alessi on a drive to Genting as well as over lunch and he autographed the car.
Also had the opportunity to meet Kimi Raikonnen and he autographed my helmet.

I also imported a soft top from US and modified the Exige so that I can use it topless to Genting. Simple modification - just drill 2 holes.

I also bought a CLK 240 for daily use. This is the car I love the most..

Unfortunately 1 year later had a very bad accident on NS Highway going to Ipoh.

I survived of course without any injury at all - not even a scratch or a drop of blood.
That is why until today I use Mercedes Benz rclxms.gif

I bought a W204 immediately and used that for 3.5 years until last month when I sold it to a forumer here

[attachmentid=5833254]

Then I bought the W205 C250 AMG shown earlier.

After selling the Exige, I bought a Porsche Cayman S.
Lot of carbon fibre came with the car as original specs from Porsche Malaysia - I love the seats.
Owned this car for 1.5 years and only put in 3k km - trying to use it more. The first owner put in 7k km only in 1.5 years This car is much more easier to drive in KL traffic.
Intend to keep this for another 2 years.

That's more or less the story of my cars throughout my life so far - I had an Airtrek Turbo somewhere in between ( another lovely car but sold it as it was getting old ) and also have a Honda Jazz right now.

I just ordered another iconic car and waiting for the tender results for my usual no plate and hopefully can be delivered before machines New Year - probably not as Ipoh no plates moves very slowly nowadays, only 300 no a day.

About if I remember correctly. It was raining and a car had already aquaplaned or hit some oil patch at the same spot and was already stationary at the road side.
I lost control at the same spot, spun and hit the car ( lucky the occupants had left the car and stood at the side ) then flipped up into the air ( I know because I saw bluish colour and initially thought I went into a drain at the side of the highway ) before landing upside down in the middle of the highway. I was luckily because the Toyota Hilus behind me managed to stop about 10 feet away instead of hitting me. Another 3 car hit the Hilux form behind - all were badly damaged except the Hilux which had a small dent at the rear.
This really tells me how strong the A pillar of a Mercedes is.
I don't usually drive fast on the road - normally stick to 120 max.
I do my speeding in Sepang Track instead - but not a very fast driver on track either.

I did X-ray and scan the next day - no problems.
But even if I have whiplash, does not matter. It was my fault and I can't claim against the insurance company who insure my car.
And further more, I work for the insurance company who insure my car cry.gif
Anyway, my claim was paid within 7 days and that's why I could buy the new Merc immediately thumbup.gif

Mercedes Benzes are built like tanks - that's why I'm actually kinda looking forward to rejoining the family, with my W222 comes in after the CNY smile.gif - first Merc in a decade, hope it won't be my last!

Life is short my friend.
If we want something bad enough, we work hard to get it.
I always put a picture of a car that I want as the screensaver on my laptop, iPad, iPhone to remind me of my target car and then work towards it.
Works so far but of course I always choose cars that is realistically just above my range.
I don't put a pic of Bugatti because I will never be able to afford one ever, which is fine with me.

This is a Lamp sorry for the delay in response; have been super busy over the weekend, so didn't really have time to bang out a proper response. Beautiful colour btw, really really really nice.

Ah yes, it was the Summer Nats event. I wasn't with any particular club; just some friends who were out on a morning drive to PD. Ended up at the yacht club and then went over to Sepang for some track. I was in a red Boxster (not mine) and not prepared; eventually went out on track barefooted (and marshalls never noticed).

Noregrets that's a nasty accident, glad you are okay. I had a similar one before in my younger days. Was driving an EK4 Civic then, clearly going too fast and jamming the brakes which led to spinning off the road and, like you, ending turn turtled. Thankfully, also in one piece with nary a scratch or bruise. No pics - this was from a time where not many phones had a built-in camera.

wobbles some pages back, you mentioned topless Boxster. And you just got your first Merc in ten years? Hmm... if I may suggest... ethod of a Boxster, with a hard top, and three pointed star? Score.

r3kahsttub I know the car you're talking about, and to be honest, I've given it a test drive. However, at my age (I'm not young anymore, sadly), I have come to the sad, sad realisation that the AMG GT is way too much car for my meagre driving skills. No point buying something that I cannot eke the max performance from.

Ah well, perhaps in a future life eh?

wobbles no need for a future life bro, so drastic! laugh.gif Actually, just buy the car and enjoy at your limits. Some cars can be very emotive; you don't need to eke out every grain of performance to truly enjoy. If you are up for it, BMW also have a variety of driver training programs that can help you understand your car (not necessarily BMW) better. I would definitely recommend that. I've seen various gentlemen from a wide range of ages :-)

I know which program you're referring to - previously, as part of the Privilege Programme for the F01 740i & F02 730Li, I was invited (on the house) to a "track day" at Pasir Gudang. They ferried us from Performance Motors @ Bukit Timah all the way to Pasir Gudang, then make us go through defensive driving (what they call the Advanced Driver Training) for the whole day, then we get a chance to lap the circuit with our new found driver's skill. Since I had 2 of the 7ers, I attended the course twice. I did worse on the second time than I did the first, so I know then, as I do now, I'm destined for luxobarges, not race-cars. A man's gotta know his limitations! Hahaha.

My car had a make over this morning biggrin.gif Didn't remove the snow from hood and roof, felt like a comet leaving a white trail behind me biggrin.gif

Oh yeah, and no warming up the engine unless absolutely necessary to clear the windscreen. Turn the key, start driving. Stall the engine because it basically turns itself off because of the temperatures. Start the engine again and move on. The engine won't get warm, ever. If there is no need to do that under these conditions, it surely isn't necessary in always warm Malaysia where engines can't even get cold...

Germany. Google says it's -12°C right now outside. I don't doubt it... At that time I'd say there were 15-20 cm of snow on the car.

The car is a Citroen Xsara II (facelift that wasn't sold in Malaysia).

Of course, I have to qualify that the F22 is a family car, and I only get to drive it (topless) when I fly down.

Having said that, the F30 is currently underutilised, as I have recently relocated to SG for work cry.gif

I'm a pendatang in Singapore, but I also have business interests in Australia (Sydney) so I visit Down Under pretty often. Used to drive a Ford Falcon in Sydney but gave that up some years ago because it was simply not cost effective.

I'm a pendatang in Singapore, but I also have business interests in Australia (Sydney) so I visit Down Under pretty often. Used to drive a Ford Falcon in Sydney but gave that up some years ago because it was simply not cost effective.

Well, Telsa *cough cough* is now available in Australia.

Telsa cars are helluva sexy beast, I must say!

Yup! Speaking of that, I feel a bit more self conscious when I am driving in the CBD, as pedestrians are within close proximity (especially with the trams dropping/picking up passengers in the middle of the road).

Normally at the busier intersections close to the city, but they're legit-ly (I hope) collecting for charities though.

Respect. You bought the car yourself after you graduated notworthy.gif - nothing tastes better than buying your first set of wheels with your own money!

I have much to learn from some of you guys: you keep your cars for 5 years, 7 years ... I think I would make my waifu much happier if I kept my cars longer and not waste money on new cars every year sad.gif

Wow. Thank you for posting the picture y_boy! The photo of your interior is memang bestest! What car is it? All LED?

I'll share with you a picture of my previous F30 316i which I bought in 2013 and sold in 2014. It was a good drive but I felt it was a little too basic for me:

And this was the modification I did for it:

I added in BMW LED door projectors. The photo on the left is stock door lights. The photo on the right is after the BMW LED door projectors were installed. Did this at the car park of my cluster house. That's about the limit of my modification abilities haha.

No, no, I have much to learn. It's not a question about cash flow, but of prudence. I admit, I have been quite spendthrift when it comes to purchasing cars. I've always tried to abide by a strict rule about the costs of car purchases which I set for myself many years ago: I will only buy a car that costs 10% or less of my annual income. Yes, I've been criticized by some forum members in different threads to say that it's unrealistic, but as you can see, with advancing age and improving income, even that rule is starting to sound inadequate.

So, I have to learn how to exert some discipline with regards to keeping my cars for longer. When I sold off my F02 730Li to buy the G12 740Li, the F02 was barely 4 years old, and had only about 25,000km on the clock. A bit sakit hati to let it go, but honestly, I don't think I can realistically keep 5 cars in my house. In fact, the 3 cars I have at the moment (with the W222 due to arrive after CNY) is already starting to look excessive, considering that my wife hardly drives, and I'm the only one that keeps the cars running. Sigh. I think when the S400L comes in, I will sell off the X5 and the 640i and just stick with the 2 limos, and learn how to be contented.

Reading about some of your experiences has reminded me that prudence is a virtue, and I hope to be able to start a new thread some years later, to showcase our long-serving existing rides, kept in good condition!

Thanks for sharing! I can definitely see a pattern here:

Hot hatch & Comfortable Cruiser.

Also, Toyota upgrade to Lexus smile.gif - well done young man! So, do you still hang on to your Camry after having bought the Lexus?

I too abide with a strict rule when buying cars.
I don't take loans for buying cars.
If I buy 2 cars within a year I will take a loan for one of the cars and settle fully within 6 months - don't want to attract queries from IRD eventhough my income is all legitimate.
My take is that there is no point to take a loan if you play cars because you will go for a cars which you can barely afford and eventually you will be up to your neck with loan payments and that affects your quality of life and probably family life too.

It's not too difficult once you build up a car base, your car has residual value which if you do not owe the bank the full amount is available for the new car and you just top up the remainder out of your savings.

In my younger days, of course I took loans but that was when I only own 2 cars - one for me and one for wifey. That was when the car was bought as a necessity.

Now I buy cars as a passion and not on need basis and it is all too easy to fall into the trap of taking too many loans, hence my own strict rule.

I personally believe that it is ok to take a max 5 years loan to buy a car if the car is used as a necessity. I did the same before.

However I strongly believe that if you need to take a loan for more than 5 years ie 6, 7, 8, 9 years then you should not really buy a car yet until you save enough. The rate of depreciation is faster then the rate you repay your loan which means that when you sell your car after say 5 years, you may end up having to fork out more money to the bank to settle your loan as the sale price will not cover the loan. Basically this means there is no chance of upgrading your car.
It is a vicious circle.

It's all about discipline if you guys have own rules to follow in buying cars.

However, looking at national debt, cost of living nowdays.. even graduates will find it hard pressed to get a loan with tenure less than 5 years because they would be looking at the lowest repayment amount overall before looking at the interest rate and loan tenure.

But income can improve with time depending on how far one progress in life generally.

Happy wife, happy life bro. And that way, you get to add to your impressive car collection with peace of mind - you could always use the bike excuse to justify another car!

No worries - I got this bike instead.
Cheaper but not as fast biggrin.gif

Actually, a friend told me to just buy a bike - at the very worst wifey won't talk to me for a week.
Spend more time in the office, entertain some clients in the evening and a week will pass quickly.
After a week, all should be back to normal.
Have not tried this trick yet on a bike - anyone who tried this please tell me if it works tongue.gif

If your wife is good at holding grudges or a mean streak all the way, you might want to consider whether she will really ignore you for a long time or not.

After all women can forgive but they will never forget and will bring out incidents from the past against you in a quarrel.

That's a true sleeper, IMHO. Unfortunately, the present day M & AMG variants are getting louder and more brash and can no longer pass off as disguised road rockets to the trained eye.

I drove a Proton Wira that belongs to my husband for a few times last CNY. That was to brush up my driving skills in case I needed to drive. Cos actually I don't normally drive. Nothing to show or boast about.

Oh yes! You lucky man! Please keep us updated on your rocket on wheels when it arrives! We were contemplating a Panamera S prior to committing to the G12 740Li - sadly, too many buttons, too stiff a ride and to be honest, the infotainment/Sat Nav on the Porkers are a generation behind that of the Bimmers at the moment, so had to pass on that. Oh, and the fact that the Big Porker only seated four adults.

Thank you bro. Yes, I do miss the ride. I sold that last year and replaced it with a totally different animal - the F15 X5. Kinda regretting it because the X5 feels like a flipping BMW - I mean Bas Mini Wilayah - at times. I think I'll sell the bloated Bimmer off after I get the W222 S400L due after the CNY.

Well, my first car is a Peugeot 208 in Rogue Red. Got it as a gift from my parents after passing my license. biggrin.gif

[attachmentid=5932864]

6 months down the line I picked up a F30 335i for half its price. It only had 200m clocked in. It was a rather interesting story to tell. But here goes, so a very rich friend of my mine passed her driving test. Her mom bought her a BMW 335i as her first car lol. Then her father got jealous that his own wife bought their daughter a BMW. So her father decided to take it to the next level. On the same day, he booked a flight to KL and took me along and we went to buy a Porsche Panamera for her lol.

1 week later she got the Panamera. And never drove the F30 ever again. Just left it in the garage for 6 months and one day I couldn't take it anymore. I just told her, in a kidding manner, "eh you don't drive the BMW anymore, might as well you sell to me." Without a second thought, she said yes and sold it to me for half its price. I paid her in cash and just took it. biggrin.gif

here's how the BMW looks like. I slapped a set of Vossen on there and did the Alpina Frost White wrap. Not the best but fills my heart everytime I look at it haha.

[attachmentid=5932878]

Shipped her down to Melbourne a few months ago and been driving it ever since. Haven't taken any pictures since she's been here.

Shipped her down to Melbourne a few months ago and been driving it ever since. Haven't taken any pictures since she's been here.

I'm surprised you went through all that trouble. A brand new 340i costs less than $100k (with on-roads).
A brand new 335i probably RM500-600k?
Could've sold the 335i, bought a new 340i in Melb and still come out ahead smile.gif

It's performance is nearly identical if I'm not mistaken, just 20 horses more. But nothing aftermarket parts can't solve tongue.gif But the 6 speed manual is rather attracting my eyes. However, the 340i is due to be out until August right? Til then I'm satisfied with my ride. HAHA unless I can snatch up another awesome second hand deal, then I'd definitely get it.

Speaking of trouble shipping it down under, my Evoque got damaged during shipping lol. A friend of mine suggested that I use a rather reputable company to handle my shipping. Upon arrival, I found out the car was extremely damaged. To the point, the front and rear bumpers are severely dented, cracked taillamps and 2 damaged side mirrors. Apparently the people who handled my car forgot to engage the parking brake after manually pushing it into the shipping container AND they didnt tie it down either. lol I didnt claim insurance for it and i just sold it to the owner of the company for him to settle.

I only quoted the 340i because the 335i is no longer sold new here. I'm sure the 335i was priced not too differently then.

Anyway, water under the bridge now. You know what else is priced close to $100k? The M2 brows.gif

Ah I see. No wonder hahaha. 340i isn't scheduled to start shipping until August, I think. I wouldn't have known the price of the 335i as I bought it over in Malaysia then I only I shipped it Kuching-KL-Melbourne. I'm curious see how much the M4 costs in Australia. MIGHT trade in my 335i for an Austin Yellow M4. But waiting time for the M4 here is crazy long 3 to 5 months waiting time lol. I had one on loan from the BMW driving experience team for a little while.

Finally got the Beetle.
It's for my wife.
Reason I bought it was because I got a good deal.
List price RM 148,888.
VW gave a discount of RM 20k since it is a 2014 MY.
Then I got a bit more discount from VW due to business relationship.
In short I paid RM 120k for a brand new Beetle with 5 years warranty.
Unfortunately no more red colour left.
It was either black, white, yellow or brown.

Comments after 2 days
Easy to drive around town
Quite OK acceleration for town use.
Have to get used to manual seat adjustment, using a remote to open the door and a key to start the car - even my wife Honda Jazz has keyless go !
it is hard to reach the seatbelt with your left hand - it's too behind the seat.

Anyway no regrets buying this as I think I got it at a good price and I always wanted to own an iconic car.

This is the last car I will buy for the next 3 years.

Hmm the beetle design updated quite a bit already from the last time I saw a beetle - in 1998-1999.

This 2014 design looks more modern and classy. Nice car btw. But one thing about the beetle is that the interior is quite roomy based on what I remember.

Not a new ride here but just sharing. Owned this year2000 Wira from secondhand since 2013. Been serving me quite well for the past 3 years and still using it. It's a gift from my parents after I got my license. Will be graduating in another one year, time to workhard and buy myself a new ride!! flex.gif

Over the CNY holidays...

Took the chairs out...wash and sun dry

Add sound proofing, deadening and absorbing material everywhere

Removed front bumper...repair broken mounting, tighten loose bits and pieces in the engine bay

Clayed, polish and waxed...clean clean clean and more cleaning everywhere

Presenting my new old car...1st batch CBU Swift from 2005...ori paint work

Totally different driving experience now...so much lower noise floor...door closes with a solid "thud"...so happy so much better than before...

You washed to cushion with soap and water ?
I thought it is better to steam clean ?
Otherwise the leftover soap will leave stains.

Looks really clean! My sister's car is the 2010 model and it looks much more terrible with broken skirting and scratches all over tongue.gif

Btw, how much did the sound proofing, deadening and absorbing materials cost? How many extra kgs and any significant increase in fuel consumption?

Oh I thought it is the hybrid.
Over here the hybrid has a long waiting list because it is RM 300k cheaper then the standard s class.
Hence the very long waiting period.
Be careful when driving over potholes.
The 20" rims and low profile tyres are very prone to damage and many owners here had to change the rims and tyres after going over potholes.
The dented rims and bulging tyres cause vibration to the car.

Interesting! Here, it's the opposite. The new V6 biturbo 3L engine in the S400 (which is a newer model than the S400h hybrid) produces north of 330hp. The S400h's 3.5L NA engine churns out 220 plus ponies and the battery adds another 80hp to make it 306hp. Maintenance costs for the S400h is also higher than the petrol variant S400.

I paid about $450,000 for the S400 which turned out to be $30,000 cheaper than the hybrid!

it is kind of fun to search for photo of all my previous ride, lucky I have taken photos for all of them.

Was poison by friend Civic Type-R EK9 but can't afford one at that time. A used manual Putra was the max I can afford. It is a well balance car, still one of my favorite.

1st ride - Putra.
Attached Image

Putra got stolen but found after few months, interior was strip empty, insurance only pay for used parts. Not happy with the condition after done, so bought myself an Aveo.

2nd - Aveo.
Attached Image

Regret getting the Aveo after few months, it look nice but the drive sucks. So went for something very similar to the Putra, Satria R3

3rd - Satria R3.
Attached Image

Satria R3 is a great car. Owned the Satria R3 for 7 years (most of the time not in Malaysia, but decide to keep it), and the same shit happen again. It got stolen and found, but after insurance claim it become more like a R3+GTI since most of the r3 parts are hard to get.

4th - PGTI.
Attached Image

The twin charge engine is amazing and the DSG is really fast. But still prefer a manual, so found myself a Megane RS 250 Cup. The PGTI is still with us and my wife is driving it now.

5th - Megane RS 250 Cup
Attached Image

Had this for 3 months, it just keep me smiling driving it everyday. My aim for next car is a RWD, maybe a BMW or Porsche. Lets work hard for it!

Just realize the Aveo is the only 4 doors car I have. tongue.gif

DIY material costs about RM 400. Bought from Brothers.

I know a bit about controlling noise and vibration...hence didn't overkill like the shops. Used only 6 sheets of sound deadening, 4 meters of "D" rubber, some electrician tape, a few squirts of WD-40, and 1 pillow. smile.gif

I didn't check FC...I find myself driving faster now because of the lower noise. laugh.gif

PS... did some paint touch up and dent "repair" too...minor scratches can be fixed with polishing.

Fully stock, and I intend to keep it that way. The rims will change though, have to return the nice 16", and swap them for 17" sad.gif It's perfect on this photo. Not too sporty, not too boring, and apart from the Golf 1 it might be the best looking Golf of them all. The 2 got a bit too fat, the 3 was meeeeh. 4 has grown on me, 5 is terrible. 6 is a big step in the right direction. But the 7... smile.gif it's just that bit sharper, more styled, better cut. By far the best interior, too. Never been a big Golf fan, never thought they were good looking (apart from the first, and to a certain degree the second), but this does everything right. I think by now I even prefer it over the Seat Leon, which looks a bit plump around the back. A bit fat.

One thing I don't like is that the roof is only black to about the center. Might as well have made the rest black too.

This one with 140 hp is already roughly RM 160k... bought it second hand at roughly half that price (3 yo, 47000 km). The GTE is significantly more, and I need to drive long distances. Electric isn't an option. I wish I could have gotten the 2.0 diesel though. 150 hp, and super frugal.
