possible workaround : use chromecast or anything similar.. Get the one that can supports 4k, if u need 4k..

sony's ATV cannot be that bad... if true... i m speechless... when sharp's ATV is working very well.
if u really can't use netflix 4k/hdr with yr TV app, u have 3 options:

1. get chromecast dongle (which is a shame since yr ATV should have built in chromecast already.

2. get an android box that can do netflix 4k HDR - this, be careful... some are "fake", may not last for long.

3. get new TV.

That's how the casting feature works.. Tablet casts to TVs or other device and that device takes over. You aren't streaming from the tablet and can't. Even if you buy a Chromecast and your Wi-Fi network is poor, you'll still get poor streaming results. If Wi-Fi is the issue, why not run an ethernet cable directly from your router to the TV and see an improvement.. Using the TV app is almost always superior to any other means.

if this is the problem, u gotta find a solution - use ethernet, access point, better router.

poor connection, poor speed... no tv or box or dongle will overcome it.

it's about how yr devices are connected to the router - cabled or wifi.

if wifi and devices are too far away, u can't get good connection, i.e. can't get good streams - with phone or TV or chromecast or box.

have u done speedtest with yr TV or phone? what speed u getting?

Netflix 4k needs >25mbps.

Hey all. I'm having problem casting Netflix from my iPad to my Smart TV (using Sony Bravia). It just opens up the default Netflix app on TV and stop at the profile selection screen. The thing is I don't wanna use the native TV app cause the wifi on TV is slow, I just wanna cast it from my iPad, and also it's easier to just browse movie from there. Is this affecting only Bravia TVs?

I understand... Tried a TV factory reset and it still doesn't work as intended? Guess you have to live with it until some TV or app update that fixes it is pushed.

Haha.. I strongly doubt that is possible. Reading thru and the issue isn't buffering or not enough bandwidth to ramp up to say UHD res. But that something somewhere isn't right during casting. I'm going to assume you've tried casting using different devices connected on the same network? TV's definitely the culprit here. How about YouTube casting, does that work proper?
