Let's discuss about Netflix here..
*When free try to read up about aspect ratios as that would explain the black bars appearance or lack of. You see, the top and bottom bars or better known as "footage padding" is referred to as Letterboxing. While if it's padding on the left and right, known as Pillarboxing. Pillar boxing is more commonly seen when much older SD content is displayed on modern (native) 16:9 HD/FHD/UHD displays. So...

*Yes, Netflix CS was right.. As it does depend on the title and if it supports (or finalized for public consumption) fullscreen on HD & above screens or not. You'll notice the same when watching certain movies in the cinemas as well. Or a today's documentary with old footage being shown.. The padding must be adding in to maintain a certain and visually appealing ration when watched. That's why you can see the Netflix app (TV or otherwise) is able to utilize the whole screen for it's UI..but playback view depends on the title. Some modern titles will have full-screen view..Try with some Netflix Originals. This is all normal.

*Netflix will only show content they have license for and yes, it's region dependent. Some titles, you must do something extra in order to access them.. As we discussed before. But even then, It's impossible (for now) that they have streaming rights to every single movie, even just the recent ones. Streaming is the future and Big Media is only just catching up and they too want a piece of the pie. Take Disney, they want to setup their service (Disney Plus or whatever) and so they are pulling their titles from Netflix. You get the gist.

*Lastly, for initial start, Netflix usually won't start at full UHD.. Depends on the strength of your connection and that to their servers or nearest CDNs.. It could start from SD res and how fast it ramps up to full UHD HDR...and stays there till the end.. on and on..? really depends on the above and setting as below..Just log on via browser and visit your account settings..Setup as below image...It should apply to all logged on certified devices..

Yap i already done that setting in netflix app very beginning.
Yes brother the top.and bottom.padding like u saying letterboxing... while on netflix , i tried to adjust ratio in my tv setting but its grayed and already in 16:9, i cant adjust.
Tested in astro source, i can adjust ratio in tv setting..
Probably for netflix viewing its standardised for 16:9
Ya certain title like documentaries, animal stuff which in HDR or UHD 4K playing in full ratio..
Ya only netflix own movie in the library, not everything..
I was in the impression of NETFLIX like POPCORN.
So i still need to depend on other sources for other contains..
Like GOT own by HBO, DISNEY own movies, SPORTS..
Aishhhh😳😔😩😳

If got HDR, it will show HDR in the movie title screen. Only thing it doesn't says is 4K and HDR. Some HDR are in 1080p, like Star Trek Discovery. Some HDR are in 4k, like Highway Men. But they will just say HDR, never tell you the resolution.
*
Yes bro you correct.. i tested netflix movies
Found the bandwidth usage increases gradually once playing the movie and stops there after for HD 1080 and 4k uhd 2160 /
HDR resolution.. some HDR plays in 1080 some in 2160
for
2160p it takes 15.25mbps
1080p takes from 4mbps to 6mbps

Those are bitrate numbers, NOT streaming speed.... Which is why even for the same res, there are fluctuations between titles.. And yes, as i explained earlier.. Depending on circumstances, it can start much lower and ramp up as it sees fit or it starts off at FHD/UHD.. The latter typically happens if there's enough buffer...for continued playback of the next episode in a series.
*
pening already... ya was reading it brother rclxub.gif rclxub.gif rclxub.gif

https://www.howtogeek.com/338983/how-much-d...es-netflix-use/

ya i even thought about why, speed is 100mbps but stops at 15mbps for 2160 streaming. hahaha
so the 15mbps 4k streaming, consistent stable connection consumes 13.7gb for 2 hours movie..
that means if the bitrate go higher, the movie must be consuming more data and the quality will be greater..
so if any broadband comes with limited data, should set the playback quality to low ?
so the saying of "minimum 25mbps needed to stream 4KUHD movies", is actually pointing to total bandwidth speed ?

Calculate file size
2 hours * 15.25 Mbps
= 2 hours * 1.91 MB/s
= 13.7 GB

How are you brothers ?

just on curiosity we streaming from netflix server outside of malaysia or its located locally ? Pass 2 months i observered speedtest in netflix tv app did show above 90%..
But this month begining i noticed the speed result from netflix app not consistent.
However speedtest from Tmnet, ookla shows result 80 to 90mb..

I observed the content streaming in netflix the video rate takes time to reach the optimum..
Example HD content stops at 3.31mbps/1080
2160 4k content.. stops.at 11mbps , before this same video can reach 15.36mbps..
When the movie played the bitrate takes time to reach the optimum level, infact i never seen such lagging..

I am not sure this is due to my bandwidth fluctuation or netflix server streaming content itself.

I did complained to UNIFI, they claimed speedtest result in browser are fine no issue and this could be streaming server itself. They did reset my port remotely but still same lag.
I did reported to NETFLIX support team they claimed all good and pointing to ISP.

Is there any chance Tm unifi throttle bandwidth for netflix streaming ?

Is anyone experiancing this kind of issue ?

How to address this kind matter, bandwidth issue or netflix server issue ?

Unifi 100mbps
Wireless router dlink DIR-842 c2
Rj45 cable connection and wireless 5G connection both seems same lag.
However speedtest in website looks fine.
Does it really reliable as it is just testing nearby servers in local or nearby

I'll try to be brief in response. AFAIK, in order to deliver fast stable service, Netflix has what they refer to as their Netflix Open Connect system. It consists of the following;
*Content Delivery Network (CDNs)
*Open Connect Appliances (OCAs)
*Internet Exchange Points
*Internet Service Providers (ISPs) and their Data Centers
*Internet Interconnection Locations...

Then we also have streaming device, bandwidth, cables and all between. Heck, Netflix even has a short list of best TVs to experience their service on..So yep, all TV's which can run Netflix aren't all created equally. Basically from Netflix down to your screen. For the ultimate experience, everything has to be in tip top shape..To the average person, most of these matter less.. Now onto your question, qualifying ISPs are given the same OCAs as present at Netflix's internet interconnection locations (strategically located places that serve users in the region...). This allows faster and more stable streaming of content. Generally ISPs in countries with medium to high consumption will take advantage of this. It's basically storing Netflix content (fast large servers...bla bla) at the ISP's data center and so when users request to stream a title, the app doesn't actually travel through the internet per se, but is simply connected to the ISP's data centers and voila, instant streaming and rapid ramp up. Those ISPs without OCAs have to be routed to the nearest IIL/IEP as per the region, and stream from that. So you can see... It's hard to exactly pinpoint where the issue might arise from.. Technically, not hard la.. But IMO, since you are still getting good results, neither TM nor Netflix will be fast to accept it's their fault.
This depends on the content creators and or owners.. if it's a Netflix original, then it will be a shorter time as Netflix doesn't have to wait until the content has completed airing on regular TV channels and or the cinemas (as is often the case with content they don't own and or have joint rights to release at same time). Also since a season finished in May, which is just 2 months ago.. Hey, relax some more la.. Acting, shooting and making content as final production takes hard work and requires much longer than 2 months to complete. I mean, you do want a good show right? and not some Sharknadon't reproduction.. smile.gif

Thanks for the reply brother...
When i fixed my mind for hdr or 4k content bit rate should be optimum in short duration time , if i observe it takes time to reach or drops while playing really bothers me alot..

Sure.. I can relate to that..Netflix is a great streaming service and should only get better with time and as our average internet speeds are more stable and increased. So until then and for such cases, I just wait for the Blu-ray version instead. You get proper high bitrate 4K HDR playback.

I'm guessing it's a Unifi issue in your area.. Watched Netflix earlier and had no issues ramping up to or playing at FHD non-stop.. Just checked and this is my result on TIME ISP.
[attachmentid=10289066]

Also, notice that your TV's check threw an error... That code points at a Network connectivity issue. Trouble reaching Netflix's servers properly..
*
This unifi still pointing to tmspeed test website and conclude result is fine so no issue. Nearby server test giving good result but when play netflix speed drops. They seems reluctant to take further action. 10 days after complain still no action.

something v wrong with the speed.

if u dun get such poor speed with other devices, it may be yr TV problem.
do u get good or poor speed with TV youtube, other apps?

new smart TV's typically come with non-gigiabit 100mbps ethernet but can be faster with AC wifi if it has it.
that page in netflix, my TV shows 185mbps with wifi using google DNS - all is good.
*
1st 2months i subscribed i always monitor the speed in netflix app consistently get 90mbps but not 100mbps. (Rj45 connection)
As u said i did tested before via unifi 5G it goes to 103mbps.
I was in doubt why cable cannot reach 100mbps then i changed cable still same.
So like you said now i knew its maybe tv port nongigabit.

The recent intermittent speed in netflix just observed lately. Since end of june.
Playing youtube seems ok.
Streaming movies from tv web browser, it plays but there is buffering here and there compared last time smooth loading.

I do test in various speedtest websites.

Ookla Speedtest.
TM speedtest - this always above 70%
SpeedOf.Me.
TestMy.net. - this seems reliable
Fast.com

What else i can do ?

In addition to what AVFAN has suggested.. Use a different device and test it's speeds to Netflix's servers. Same or different from that of the TV?
*
Finally the technician arrived to check my unifi quality. They fixed tester at my end and at dp box. According to them my signal loss very low. That means fiber cabling perfectly done.
Surprisingly at noon i did speedtest infront of them about 5 times all result hit 90Mbps.
According to them even though its broadband we still sharing with rest subscribers, if users get increased the bandwidth utilization become higher and we see drops.

Basically the broadband is not dedicated line. If TM allocate 2Gbps for the exchange it will be shared to rest of the users.

So no solution unless more complains on low speed due to insufficeint of bandwidth, TM need to increase.

Im watching "Moneyheist" which i got addicted now. What i noticed is the series stated as 4k ultra HD. But when play it the resolution is always 3.83mbps/1080.
I quickly checked other 4k content all stops at 15+mbps.
I wonder why moneyheist just stops at 1080 when the content stated as 4k.
I reported to netflix not to put wrong info..
Can you guys play that series and check if seeing same as me.
It plays in 1080 or 2160..

1080p should be more like 6-7 mbps.

yr connection does seem weak since u dun get certain shows in 4k (assuming u pay for 4k pack).

really, u need to test connection speed with other devices - box, pc - with ethernet , wifi... to be sure it is not just TV netflix issue.

for 100mbps nominal, most routers can give full 100 with ethernet and >50mbps wifi.
*
I tested the connection in my laptop and handphone via wifi 5g
Seems ok. Playing netflix in PC or handphone doesnt now the content playing in what video rate. I believe must be 1080p.
Do speedtest from Pc or hp seems fine as well. Streaming no buffering.

Just in TV NETFLIX APP, we can see video rate right ?
Other 4k content can play in 2160 in 15.xx Mbps rate. But this moneyheist just playing in 1080p make me confuse. Why its not happening to other 4k content ?

Cracking head

I too just finished the season 3 of La Casa De Papel, while I'm very disappointed at how we were left hanging, can't wait for the fourth season too.. As for Flash and Arrow, they are "somewhat okay" BUT nowhere near the awesomeness of the first 2 on the list. So if you are someone who has to finish a series once started? You might want to not watch those or at least, delay watching unless super bored and nothing better. I'd recommend..
1.. Stranger Things (Murica)
2.. The Protector (Turkish)
3.. Designated Survivor (Murica)
4.. Orange is the New Black (OITNB, Murica)
5.. Also please tell me that you've seen "House of Cards"? If you haven't, start with that. Anyways all on this list are definitely the addicting type and a much better watch than The Flash and or Arrow.. Enjoy..  biggrin.gif
*
Haha "Murica" i wanted to ask what language is tht...
Searched for it and that is thick slang for America, patriotic american address so ? Hahaha

Designated Survivor also in korean, just started 1st episode.
Korean will be more emotional..
Lots of sentimental, some movies can bring tears.

Protector just checked, beginning it self i liked the background music. Lets go further. Glad its in english audio too.

Resurrection Ethrugul nice background too. Too bad just in turkish , very hard to follow the subtitle. They speak quite fast.

Even korean i can follow but turkish i had to catch the subtitle fast missing the screenplay..

Stranger Things not playing yet, cover looks like 80s kids series. Orange is the new black and House of cards never tried yet.

Dirilis Ertugrul.... u watching this?! biggrin.gif

On netflix, 4 seasons... each season average 100 episodes x 43 min.

season 5 not available, rights not secured.

but u can watch here:
https://historicalfuntv.com/episodes/watch-...on-5-episode-1/

from original turkish tv, this show is 140min per episode, broken into 3 for netflix.
*
Just started 1st episod where ethrugul save that pretty chick.
Problem is having trouble to follow the subtitle . They speak quite fast.
Wow to many episodes ? Hopefully not get bored following.
The background music nice creates feeling like sitting at middleeast restaurant near pavillion bukit bintang smoking shisha watching passerby..

I always prefer watching content in its original audio and reading the English subs as they come by. Luckily, it poses no issues (as yet) for me with foreign films. Oh yeah, don't be fooled by Stranger Things' cover image. The series while majorly stars kids, is not a kid show. Plenty deep meaning. There are others I can recommend, but you've got your plate full now..
Oh my.. You keep tempting me.. And you've watched that far in about a month..
I would dedicate at least twice that internet bandwidth. The rest, is as AVFAN says. But then since you asking, guess it's safe to assume that you already have the necessary hardware.
*
Yes brother i just started 2nd episode of strangers things.
It is looks like kids movie but not suitable for them haha... If censored version could be very appropriate for them on Language and adult scenes. I watched 2 episodes seems interesting.

So now in my bucket

1. The protector
2. Ethrugul
3 Designated Survivor
4. Strangers Things

Ok already completed stranger things..
Like what vocrane said it was addicted.
End of season 3, Jimhoppers death put me on tears..
I guess he still alive in russians cell..

Now watching "The protector" quite fast moving interesting story line too..

i found it very good, now continuing with the sequel series kurulus osman.
now showing on turkish tv, it should be out on netflix later in the year.

yr list is quite a complete one for netlfix.
from yr preferences, u may try Caliphate (or Kalifat).

and if u can get hold of other shows outside netflix, try these, my favorites:
.. homeland
.. westworld
.. DEVS
.. star trek picard

from this list:

23. Last Kingdom - 4 seasons, i like it.
based on a series of novels.
dramatized historical fiction, very well written.
9th century... how "england" was formed, the old kingdoms, the kings, the warriors.
the vikings invasion, attacks, wars, religion.
u get to learn a bit about the history of those islands - who were the britons, saxons, danes.

24. OA - 2 seasons.
mystery, supernatural.
started great, ended poorly, series cancelled.
*
Another recommended series PRISON BREAK S1 TO S5
I used to hear this series back then 10 years ago but never showed interest at all.
But last week i wanted to try , seriously got addicted and finished up to 4 season. Now resting to move on 5.
Well scripted, well acting interesting characters, twist and turn storyline.
The best part what you predicted next, is not what is scripted.
There many ocassion where i failed of predicting or guessing correctly and amazed with the twist. Hahaha..
Makes you glued yourself to keep watching how it ends.
I cannot pick any one of the episode which is less entertaining compared to another.
Its keep driving you watch one after another.

After some episodes you definitely hooked with some characters. I never had feeling of watching a quite old series. There are minor errors in some episode if you closely looking at, but overal i felt like it just recetly filmed.
So you will not get feeling of watching backdated series.
The BGM gives you goosebumps as well, keep playing in ur mind.

Like how u feel when watch game of throne, stranger things, money heist, breakingbad and few others

prison break was a winner in the early seasons 1-4, v good.
it tried to make a comeback with s5 after several years, somewhat failed.
there will not be a s6.

if u liked breaking break, u should check out OZARK, 3 seasons.
not as good as BB... in terms of suspense and humor but is in a similar genre.
less drugs+violence, more with money laundering+drama.
highly watchable.

OZARK completed somewhat slow start yet quite interesting all about drug money laundry . The struggle his whole family going through to be safe from cartel. It has less suspense and thrill yet continued to watch further just to see whether he succeed or not. Whether he escapes.from.mexican cartel.or not. It is blend of all genre not bored to watch.
