from what i read it's the graphics chipset is not supported by either qualcomm or google anymore
which is weird because not too long ago z3 is offered beta for nougat (not talking dev preview here, but actual beta)

I think the camera has improved a lot with software updates compared to when I first got the phone.

And Sony's Android builds so far have been really stable for me. Very rare, almost none of the memory leaks and battery drains that I used to suffer with Samsung and Nexus phones.

Very impressed, just sad that it doesn't look like Sony is going to last for long in the smartphone business judging by Xperia X/XA's sales perfoamce

But in recent news, they finally posted profit for the mobile division.
That was after lots of cost cutting steps.

they are also now focusing on relatively pricier segment
so no more entry-level cheap smartphones from sony anymore
but then when i am looking at the new X series
I dun know how that matches their new vision?!
I mean look at XA, X and XP?!

If I'm not mistaken, they mentioned about focusing on premium segment before. Hence that judges the pricing for X series.
However, the build quality indeed is premium but specs not in premium segment, which is a wrong move for Sony.
I just hope the rumored Xperia XR set higher hope for the mobile division.

All they only say is the thick bezels. For me, I don't nitpick on the bezel as long beneath the bezel houses some important hardware.

Considering z5 and p9.. any user used both phones before?

In terms of camera.w which gives a better experience? . just normal point n shoot. No manual mode

I use p9 for a week before. In term of camera, both are equally the same but Z5 win over video shooting parts. Steadyshot of Xperia is really good.

For photo shooting only, p9 able to get more pop or vibrant colours. We may manually adjust the saturation, contrast and etc. Easier to get bokeh effect in p9, their main attractive point.

Overall, p9 give you very nice photo without further edit.. Xperia camera is depend on scene, superior auto will based on the scene and giving different types of output. Landscape in Xperia will be very good looking as well.. I can't comment which one is better in overall but I can said both are good in photo shooting. P9 got more features.. If u use tripod for both phones, I believe Xperia can win a little bit with manual scene mode. While p9 can get some photos that Xperia can't do like light painting.

You need go and play demo unit and feel yourself. Can't advise you go for which one since you are the person to pay.. For me, I might still go to Xperia z5 since current price is 2299 vs 2099 of p9.. Z5 got waterproof and dual sim + microsd while p9 only able to choose dual sim or 1 sim 1 microsd. I prefer 2 sim + microsd.

some kind of palm rejection needs to be in place so you don't accidently pushed on things on screen

That's my thought. My touch screen experience with the S7 Edge is simply horrible because my palm always touch the edges of the screen. However, it turns out fine on note 7 though.

However, I'm still waiting and hoping for Sony to release a flagship phablet like the Z Ultra.

I have no P9..but using P7,808,N8 before.
and z5 series are messing with Point And Shoot.

For me, it need to adjusted before shooting.
Thats why I say it messed up.

I also don't know what they want to do. How do they expect people to buy their phone ar? Even newspaper ads also tak ada. The second biggest manufacturer that spent money on advertising is Huawei and I'm not surprised they are where they are now after Samsung.

they probably don't sell enough here to have the budget to do ads
from what i heard from ppl in reddit they put up more ads in european countries
i suppose the same in japan oso lar
oso xperia users probably don't go around telling everybody "xperia is awesome" too
(no one is gonna be able to hear it because there are many more samsung and apple fanboys out there)

hmm.. both are good.. didnt feel any slow response on both phones. P9 got laser autofocus with PDAF while Z5 got PDAF which able to provide very quick focus from the sensor as well - DAylight only. Lowlight a bit, can feel very little slower in term of focus speed. Focus distance might be one of things u may consider. P9 can take closer object than Xperia. but Xperia could take wider angle than P9.

if you are looking for camera on photo shooting, i believe P9 can satisfy u.. Dual lens with Colour&BW lens are gimmick in my own opinion. But indeed P9 provide a lot useful features and quite user friendly of camera to users.. F stop to adjust bokeh effect, light painting, pro mode which can set longer shutter speed for better lowlight with tripod. P9 offer very great in photo shooting.

In video shooting, it's a big u turn point to me if compare with Xperia. LOL.. Depend on your needs.. I might suggest u go for P9 or P9 plus if u know somewhere got cheap discount.. offer a lot of great things like fingerprint scanner (quick, good position), IR blaster (Plus only), better processor due to quad core of A72.

I do influenced some of my friends go to P9. Normally if ppl without idea and ask my opinion, i will suggest xperia z5, p9 or S7. Mostly will prefer to Samsung but some are really hate samsung ady cause they holding a samsung and wish to make a change. In the end they going to P9 rather than Xperia.
