That's good cause that means U get to save some $$ biggrin.gif  I would have preferred 1TB but it was way too expensive so settle for 512GB... and thankfully the boys told me not to waste $$ upgrading the RAM.
*
Yeah, it's all cost issues lol. Would definitely love to have more room to play around in the near future. It's best to get the biggest ssd that u can afford cause from what I know, the bigger ssd the faster overall speed.

We only need to worry the QC of the battery and chips. Also need to buy AppleCare
*
I was able to get my out of warranty battery replaced. It was bloated and I called AppleCare about it and they replace for me foc. For this I have my thanks to the Machines service reception guy in Midvalley. He had requested that I called AppleCare first before I sent in and pay for the battery.

I will get 13 inch touch bar version, 90% will upgrade the ram to 16 GB, but between ram and SSD hard to decide, my maximum budget is only RM8k (with education price).

So if i choose to upgrade 512 SSD, i need compromise the ram. I prefer to upgrade ram but really afraid that in future no enough Memory  cry.gif

Both are soldered in but ssd u can always get external whenever you need more. And yes, there are external ssds on the market already.

What did you exactly say to AppleCare to get the free out of warranty battery replacement as my 2012 MBP is telling me to replace. Tks

Low battery cycles.

Lol Machines just sent me a quote for my faulty track pad.

2.1k as the track pad is built in with keyboard and battery. Topkek

Weird. Last time I got a 870 quote for battery but they changed my topcase as well.

What was your problem if you don't mind me asking?

Battery issue je or what?
*
Battery issue only. Yours is trackpad only what right?

I don't see why they charge so much difference. Maybe go to Mac City instead and u say u want to change battery je lah, get cheaper since they are changing the trackpad and keyboard anyway. It is all one set....

So means if I wanna change battery, they'll change the keyboard and track pad also?

nah. it won't suffer any major scratches at all. that's what i had experienced with my mba for the past 5 years. all thanks to the magsafe. that being said, this year mbp DOES NOT comes with magsafe, so i'm not sure how will tripping the wire affect. btw, i had applying sticker on my first mba back in 2011, when i peel off, the whole silk screen wording on the bottom came out with it. i'm afraid the anodize color might also give way when peeled off.
either way, i'm sticking with my mbp naked and store it in a sleeve, probably a lightweight fibre sleeve. mostly likely won't go with leather as the weight is too damn heavy. i'll do some shopping in shenzhen next week or so.

how's the battery life so far?

I was researching about this topic in the past weekend.

Now have to decide either cancel touch bar order and get non touch bar OR order the 8gb with touch bar.

is dual core enough for AutoCad?
*
Get the 8GB non touch bar. 6th gen i5 on it is very future proof for autocad. if that's ur main use don't waste money for the touch bar or more RAM. autocad is not proMac so hard to expect them to incorporate the touch bar function

Machines already got the non-touch MBP. Tested the keyboard. I have to say I am impressed as it feels really good and not much noticeable difference in typing with the old MBP besides it. Then went on to type on the Macbook, the typing fatigue immediately sets in. Like typing on a wall...both have the same depth to it but the improvement on the new MPB is just great.

Er. how is it that the new keyboard feels like the old one?! But this keyboard is not new; it's on the 12" MBP.  Hopefully you're right bout the improved keyboard on the new MBP.

My MBP has been shipped; let's see how long before it gets delivered biggrin.gif

I think Apple did not update the keyboard for the 2016 Macbook and put the v2 into the MBP instead. That's why the Macbook keyboard still feels flat. Typing also seems faster as a butterfly keyboard has a shallower depth.

Looks like my MBP is showing early signs of the staingate issue. It is an early 2015 model.

Hi guys. my macbook currently having this problem. is this the staingate issue? macbook pro retina 13" early 2015.

Yup, can change it for free as long as within 3 years of date of purchase. However, there is no guarantee that new screens won't have the problem. Not sure about the 2016 models but it is too soon to tell.
