Since the missus is not around for a while.. it's time to banish what used to be the defunked Project Littlebit from its pathetic cardboard casing to a new one..

Enter Project Sumpron!!

Basically the main point is to squeeze everything into the smallest possible casing and at the most minimum cost (which is already over-budgeted kau kau di)

The heart is still the old Mobile Sempron + S754 micro-atx board.



Past couple of days has been planning and planning...initially planned to use wood but then the office had some renovation recently and I scored a couple piece of acrylic.



For cutting while watching movie....I used this scraper

That's the whole point of this exercise..small case..as quiet as possible...hopefully not too hot.

It cost RM880 for the board alone!! There's a cheaper alternative which is also ITX form factor using Radeon Xpress200M that's used in HP's Slimline series... but still... already have a board so didn't wanna pay extra.

Naw... not gonna have any transparent stuff of bling. It's a WLAN card.

The initial plan was to use a crossflow fan but there's some fitting problems so I'll have to go with another setup.

So started with a standard K8 heatsink:

the inlet is facing down and the exhaust is facing the rear of the motherboard........

basically it's a blower, and it will suck heat from the heatsink and blow it to the rear..

works well if the heatsink is ducted nicely

Updates:

All the panels are joined ( doing the sides now) using metal L-brackets. Since it's gonna be painted anyways...these are stuck using epoxy which also acts to fill up gaps between the lines. Hope they're strong enough though (advertised to hold 2500lbs per sq inch)

what PSU is that and how many watts can support ?
and the most important thing is that how much is it ???

That's Morex's 150W power kit. Not something you would wanna use for a full powered rig

Paid about RM300 for it

Better still is mini-box'es Picopsu but that's hard to find and more expensive to import.

hmm.......at that price i think can get a 1U PSU which is 40mm thick already and +/- 450W of pure power...

the PSU is enough for all the things installed ?

Sure.. but that takes up much more space and it's freakin noisy after the heat builds up.

Anyway..the morex kit should be enough for most mobile cpu's...even an X2... as long as don't put in a VGA.... single HDD. Bare minimum stuff lar.

it's noisy all the time coz the fan inside is uber fast, standard ones should be more than 10k rpm.....

nice case. but how are you going to plan on placing the hard disk and possibly the CD-rom? 150w is kinda low. even if you use it, it's gonna build up alot of stress on the ac-dc adaptor. more over there is no cooling on to it. don't get me wrong, just a bit concern la. dun want you to fry a rm300 gadget. in malaysia, we do have such adaptor but its more on car use. dc-ac where it is to provide household power on to components like laptop in car.

Should be ok lar....using lappy HDD (scored a 5400.3 120GB) and lappy super multi drive.

Main issue is the psu cables berlambak only.

U gonna spray the insides of the acrylic right? The only color that'll blend with the black epoxy u used is black. Unless ure painting the outside surface.

Some small updates.

This week has been OT, OT and more OT so there's not much time to work on Sumpron.... so this is waaaaay behind schedule as I need to complete this before Saturday and painting needs some time to cure.

Did manage to put in the mobo standoffs though. I used plastic standoffs since the threaded part is easier to cut off.



Also started on the rear I/O. I didn't use the standard I/O plate as I like the integrated look of individually drilled look better

Why don't u use the PCI-e slot meh?

It's a pron rig ler...and it's a 6100 board so don't need external vga. Targetting less than 50W power consumption while idle hence gotta minimize everything including fan.

i think the taller of the HSF fin is better coz it will trap more heat and easily blw it away..isn't it? if you cut it out,the efficiency of the HSF will reduced...
