I use a nVidia 9800GT, and have no heat problems with it. In fact, it even runs cooler than my old dell with intel GMA 950 doh.gif

it all boils down to how the laptop chasis is designed

Yeah...was thinking of getting those Acer laptops with 9600M GT. Are those series any good? i mean for that price range of course. And also i heard some pretty bad things about Acer Laptops. Is it true ? Like poor after sales service, or something like tat ? Can anybody clarify tat this laptop is good ? Thanks.

lol. for now, acer has the cheapest one with the 9600MGT inside.. at only 4499. but many people state that acer's quality is not good as they reduce the cost by using cheap materials etc. etc. so.. if you're not a very rough person with your laptop, maybe u can give it a try.. biggrin.gif

Cheap materials ? what do u mean by cheap materials ? u mean the plastic not good or stuff or do u mean the hardware itself ?

Bro yours is desktop or laptop? As I know, laptop GC cannot be changed as it is soldered on motherboard. If desktop then go for Ati3450, even laptop also go for ati one. Never try nvidia, nowdays their chips are almost defective one. Especially 8400m gs, all also got problem.

depends on the mobile gpu factor. Some can be upgraded as long as the factor is the same type.

u mean the MXM ports??? there are a total of 4 types of them if i remember correctly, and it's not like PCI-E x16 on desktop where 1 interface fits all...

but most laptops in the market use the soldering method instead... helps to reduce cost of production...

ah yes, i meant those. My ATi Mobility x2300 is MXM Type I. Which is rumored to be the same factor as nVidia 8400m gs.
