As the world's biggest and richest club, Manchester United reach a global fanbase.

Part of the attraction for fans around the world has been the football luminaries, such as George Best and Sir Bobby Charlton, who have graced the Old Trafford turf in a Manchester United shirt over the years.

Recently, Manchester United have continued to attract or develop some of the game's biggest names, with England stalwarts such as Paul Scholes and David Beckham having been regular fixtures in the Reds line-up.

The Manchester United team, past and present, reads like a who's who of world football.

It is only fitting that a great team should grace a great stadium. And with Old Trafford's recent development and the closure of Wembley, the ground is easily the largest in English football, holding in excess of 60,000 fans.

Despite this capacity, the demand to see United in action is so great that tickets are hard to come by.

But it isn't only Manchester United fans who flock to Old Trafford. The standard of the ground is such that it regularly hosts high-profile games, most notably, the Champions League Final and Great Britain rugby league games.

Rock fans have also made use of the Reds's facilities, watching a number of high-profile acts at the ground.

But it's football that will forever be synonymous with the Reds famous ground - and with good reason.

The last decade has seen Manchester United under the shrewd leadership of Sir Alex Ferguson maintain a virtual stranglehold on the Premiership crown.

Manchester United has won the league no fewer than 18 times in their history. They are also Cup Kings too, winning the FA cup 11 times, the league cup 4 times, as well as winning the European Super Cup, European Cup Winner's Cup, and 3 times being crowned European Cup champions.

Manchester United has long become a name associated with success both on and off the pitch.

As club profits continue to grow, Manchester United have become one of the richest sports clubs on the planet.

With supporters club branches on every continent, it's hard to go any where in the world and not see somebody wearing the famous red shirt of Manchester United.

QUOTE(zenix @ Nov 24 2009, 09:18 PM)
Hope Alien will sticky this info later.
Though written in 2006 so no Roy Keane yet.

Ex-United players that have moved on to become managers.

Written by Simon Stone (MARCH 22, 2006)

STEVE BRUCE (1987-1996): Took his first steps in management with Sheffield United in 1998, then swiftly moved on to Huddersfield, Wigan and Crystal Palace. Left Selhurst Park in acrimonious fashion after Birmingham targeted him as the replacement for Trevor Francis in 1991. Took Blues into the Premier League but after a heavy FA Cup defeat is struggling to keep his job.

MARTIN POWELL (1971-1983): Stylish and well-respected Scotland centre-half whose authoritative nature appeared to make him a natural for the management game. Lasted four months at Burnley.

SIR BOBBY CHARLTON (1956-1973): Arguably the finest English player of all time proved to be an unmitigated disaster as a manager. Claimed he was not given the resources to make a decent job of it at Preston but was never lured back into management following his departure after a single season.

STEVE COPPELL (1975-1983): After a knee injury cut his playing career short at just 28, Coppell turned his attention to management. Steered Crystal Palace into the FA Cup final and then third place in the old First Division - the Eagles' highest ever - the following season. It was the first of four stints in charge at Selhurst Park in a career which has seen him move to Manchester City (for only six games), Brentford and Brighton. Now at Reading and about to steer the Royals into the top flight for the first time.

PADDY CRERAND (1962-1971): A key figure in United's 1968 European Cup triumph, Crerand lasted five months at Northampton before getting the bullet and, like Charlton, never managed again.

MARK HUGHES (1983-86, 1988-95): Hughes was never tipped as a manager by Ferguson but has taken to the game with ease. Took Wales into the Euro 2004 play-offs. Took over at Blackburn shortly afterwards, steering Rovers away from danger in his first season. Currently in contention for a Champions League spot.

BRIAN KIDD (1967-1974): Another European Cup winner who proved to be a poor manager. Got itchy feet in 1998 after spending seven years as Sir Alex Ferguson's highly-rated assistant. Took command at Blackburn but dismissed six months later.

BRYAN ROBSON (1981-94): United's inspirational leader under Ron Atkinson and Ferguson. There are two schools of thought on his stint at Middlesbrough - he either spent lots and achieved little (relegation and two losing finals) or he laid the platform for the Teessiders to become an established Premiership outfit. Kept West Brom up in extraordinary fashion last year but back in trouble again this season.

GORDON STRACHAN (1984-89): Scotland international who won the FA Cup with United and the title of the pre-Premiership era with Leeds. Sacked after five years at when the Sky Blues lost top-flight status, then enjoyed success at Southampton - reaching the 2003 Cup final - before resigning to spend more time with his family. Now at Celtic, has recovered from a humiliating Champions League exit to Artmedia Bratislava, and, after winning his first trophy on Sunday in the CIS Insurance Cup, is set to clinch the Scottish Premier League.

NOBBY STILES (1960-71): Along with Charlton, one of only two Englishmen to have won the World Cup and European Cup, he replaced his former England and United team-mate at Preston, with limited success. After a brief stint in Vancouver, returned to England to take over as manager of West Brom. Sacked after five months, having gained just three wins.

Imho, one team is shaky, unstable vs a troubled team. The shaky unstable team without Costa is gonna have some challenges at Old Trafford. If only Chelsea performed like Stoke while Man Utd remain with the same performance.

If only luck sided Man Utd more, Martial would put 2-0 lead, saved LvG's butt for a moment and bring a smile to SAF. What if, only if and if only.

Don't think we need that cfc game to know his philosophy. We have 4 straight draws, 3 straight wins, 3 straight draws, and now 4 straight losses. 7 games without a win, Sunderland probably would sack their manager already. And this is United. Board members must go too

Actually, Sunderland lost their last 4 games in a row (they have 3 wins and 7 losses in the last 10) and Big Sam is sitting pretty tongue.gif

"The Board" is basically a cover label, since if memory serves it is Glazer dominated i.e. mostly filled with the family and people who will not go against them.

There is a reason why the Glazer family members get "paid" for their "work and services", and probably why SAF didn't spend as much as he could in the years leading up to his retirement

hahaha best part kena said too dumb to understand.

classic coming from supposedly a fan of the club

4 weeks ago no hu-ha when the club was sitting on top, albeit playing bad sometimes, but still manage to clinch 3 points or 1 point

now because of the winless run, their friends supporting other club make fun of them every week, cannot tahan the jeers, want the club to appoint a new gaffer

as though that will immediately plus 20 points for the club in the league standing

While succeeding in Europe, the Nou Camp outfit were struggling domestically. By the start of February they were just three points above the relegation zone in 12th place, and 20 points behind league leaders Real Sociedad, having already lost eight La Liga fixtures. His contract was due to run until June 2005 but lasted just a few months as it was cut short.

Well at the big clubs it was mixed bags really. He had great success at AZ Alkmaar. That should be considered as an achievement as well. I guess it is up to him now, to change his own mindset. Everywhere it seems to have negative effect. There are pros as well but the cons would ultimately become the main reason for his sacking. Hope he will change his approach but very little reason for him to do so as he will be retiring anyway.

'Football should be enjoyable, but there has been nothing enjoyable about football at FC Bayern for a while now,' said then-Bayern president Uli Hoeness in a scathing statement about Van Gaal after he was dismissed.'

No mah, a lot of his supporters here say we are pushing the panic buttons mah. Or quoting his World Cup run as his credibility. They know much better than us.
And clearly have short memories. Even when we were top or close to top, there was complains on the playing style already. Those 3 straight wins wasn't pretty games. but they seems to think that we are only complaining now cause of the bad run when some of us was already complaining last season where we were stumbling while Liverpool was surging up before suddenly LVG hit a purple patch to finish the season in 4th.

At least then there was an excuse to give him a full season. But now after a full season and a full summer window, we are still being accused of panicking and being in hysteria.

He won't change, because at his age people rarely do and he already said this is his last job before retirement

He actually did well at big clubs, but for 2 very specific things:
1) Overhaul squad and promote youth players
2) Set up framework i.e. change of play style to be more possession based and organize/train players well

Just like Mourinho, he will exit after about 3 years and his career record shows it:

1986–1988 AZ (assistant manager)

1988–1991 Ajax (assistant manager)

1991–1997 Ajax

1997–2000 Barcelona

2000–2002 Netherlands

2002–2003 Barcelona

2005–2009 AZ

2009–2011 Bayern Munich

2012–2014 Netherlands

2014– Manchester United

The fellas saying he is a bad manager or an idiot and are flaming him so much are not asking two obvious question:

If he is so terrible, how did he manage to be appointed by so many big clubs and his country (twice!) ?

If he is so "hopeless", why did United appoint him at all? The whole "there is no other big manager out there" line is beside the point, big clubs appoint less high profile managers all the time. So why did we go for LVG instead of any other manager out there if he is "so terrible"?

if im not mistaken, his 2nd term at barca, they are battling relegation w him and parted w the team w bad terms. first term w holland w him, they didnt qualify for euro / world cup.
but do give him credits for bringing up vds edgars and xavis and mullers. but that being said, he himself said he was forced to promote youth as he has not got spending power.

given that he is the only manager w proven track record at the time, the board went for him cause other managers like lotti and pep werent available. and mourinho, was opposed by charlton? sweat.gif

He parted practically ALL his jobs on bad terms LOL!!! He is not a man to exit a job on a high or gracefully like Jupp or Ancelotti

Like I said, he is only hired for 2 things i.e. promoting youth and reshaping a squad. Just like Mou is hired mainly to get very quick success (within 2 years). In both cases, you will get that from the manager but don't expect more than that

That's probably why United hired him (and he has done a good job selling weaker players and giving kids time).

He is not a man hired to lead us to league and world domination, since he is not going to be around for that

i thought last holland job was ok haha. anyway i think we need to get those staff at bayern. they did a very good job at recruiting those managers and also extending contracts. no last min works for me. recently they just one go extended 4 of their key players contract.

and for lvg dont think he should stay any longer. one season out of the cl has hurt us financially so bad already haha

My last two posts answer your question. You do realise that your comment about 3 years is also 100% applicable to Mourinho, Pep, and Ancelotti (ever since he left Milan), right?

And before some emotional genius here tries to act smart and roll eyes while talking in emotional absolutes again, I will say they're all good managers for a specific task:

Mou: Quick success over 3 years
LVG: Rebuild squad and promote youth over 3 years
Ancelotti: Take a good squad and figure out how to get them happy and performing as a group (i.e. good team spirit)
Pep: Fine tune a good team tactically (which is probably why City are so eager to get him)

QUOTE(tontolou @ Dec 28 2015, 09:40 AM)
hahaha best part kena said too dumb to understand.

classic coming from supposedly a fan of the club

4 weeks ago no hu-ha when the club was sitting on top, albeit playing bad sometimes, but still manage to clinch 3 points or 1 point

now because of the winless run, their friends supporting other club make fun of them every week, cannot tahan the jeers, want the club to appoint a new gaffer

as though that will immediately plus 20 points for the club in the league standing
*
There were worries even last season, but most people gave LVG more credit then because
1) Good preseason results made people hopeful, and it was his first season i.e. honeymoon period and early days
2) That good run of results vs bigger teams made everyone happy (although the run that came directly after that was shit and took the wind out of our sails)

This season it's already nearing the halfway mark of his contract, and given the time and money spent over the last 2 summers people are more worried. Plus the lack of goals and losing to promoted sides is ramping it up.

It's just that we know he will be sacked if this continues even if we don't puke blood while scolding him and everyone who doesn't hate him tongue.gif

His last job was only less explosive because his contract was due to expire anyway, plus he was linked to United before the WC even began (i.e. his haters knew he would exit after the WC no matter what).

That incredible win over Spain and the 3rd place finish at the WC kept people quiet, although the Dutch results outside of the Spain win were much like our team performances earlier this season. Edgy, defence first, not dominating games or convincing but somehow "getting there".

But even before the tournament there were a lot of critical media articles and people saying things along the lines of "this Dutch team is betraying it's history" of attacking football etc.

Only after he left and the team went straight into the toilet that people look back and say "he was not perfect, but he did some things ok". Same with all his other jobs.

Actually, I made that comment because the last 2 to 3 seasons your posts and comments were calmer than now. Unhappy when things went bad (which is normal and cool), but still with a good amount of logic and sense. Of course, I have a very short memory so maybe that memory of mine was also bad?

Unlike now, you can't even state sponsorship deal info accurately, you act like this place is here to come and take a dump on the manager and anyone who doesn't flame him as well is "his supporter" (even though I have United jerseys and 0 "LVG supporter" kit), and for whatever reason and you see fit to do this passive-aggressive snarky eye-rolling sideways comment thing towards my posts instead of calmly discussing it or debating with numbers and facts.

Sometimes, i kinda wonder whether it is the players' faults or manager's fault.

Remember when we defeated Everton 3-0 in October? That's the best performance of the season IMO. How were we able to produce that kind of performance? The players. Remember when we convincingly defeated Spurs, City and Liverpool(away game) last season? How were we able to produce those performances? The players.

LvG can be stubborn at times, like playing Rooney, Uncle Pokok and not playing Herrera etc. There are some LvG's faults too, like changing players' positions, not playing better players.
But don't just blame the manager.

How many of us were saying we've chance on winning the title this season when we defeated Spurs, Liverpool and City convincingly? I bet it was a lot of us, including me.

It's actually a very interesting article!

Highlights about Bielsa:
- He is well known to be super-active on the touchline
- His team plays intense football
- Tactical guy, but his teams press relentlessly and run a lot (He managed Herrera at Bilbao when they knocked us out of the Europa League a few years ago)

“The workouts are intense but enlightening, technically and tactically,” said Gignac. “He knows everything to the smallest detail. I glanced at his training schedules; there are hundreds of them and every one featured games he analysed. He taught us a vibrant, real type of football.” This snapshot of glowing praise from one of Bielsa’s prized assets illustrated exactly how he can enrapture footballing minds.

Bielsa has always adhered to the “running is everything” motto and his players didn’t shy away from this taxing physical demand. From the outside looking in, Bielsa may have cut a ghastly figure, stalking the pitch on the touchline and displaying an explosive temperament.

For many, it was Bielsa’s emergence as manager of Athletic Bilbao that made them sit up and take notice. He took over from Joaquín Caparrós in the summer of 2011 and once again enacted dramatic changes to the set-up and style of football. Bilbao had finished sixth under Caparrós but there were growing concerns over his particularly bland style and when Josu Urrutia – a former midfielder and club legend – became Bilbao’s president, Bielsa was instated.

Dude, I wasn't even sure of the sponsorship deal that's why I ended it as a question. I didn't state that as a fact and you want to bring this up as an argument?
Seriously?

And you keep calling me passive-aggresive snarky eye-rolling sideways when you are doing the exact same thing now. Calling me this fella, that fella, emotional fella.

Let's just agree to disagree that we each have our own opinions. Each of the points that you made, when i made a counter argument, we both have ppl supporting our opinions.

*
It's a mix of both. Players need to deliver on the pitch (otherwise it ends up like Chelsea under Mou recently), but it's also up to the manager to get them confident and prepared (and use the right tactics/plan/etc.)

Hence different situations need different changes, and it also depends on the club culture i.e. player power is stronger at Real Madrid and Chelsea, while manager has more clout at some other clubs (Arsenal? United under SAF?)

With LVG the bottom-line is this situation cannot continue for long, so either he has to turn it around fast or he will be sacked (if Kayu isn't already working on it)

Blaming players or manager is not going to change that bottom-line situation

Dude, I wasn't even sure of the sponsorship deal that's why I ended it as a question. I didn't state that as a fact and you want to bring this up as an argument?
Seriously?

And you keep calling me passive-aggresive snarky eye-rolling sideways when you are doing the exact same thing now. Calling me this fella, that fella, emotional fella.

Let's just agree to disagree that we each have our own opinions. Each of the points that you made, when i made a counter argument, we both have ppl supporting our opinions.

Sponsorship: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/...3m-penalty.html

Extract:
QUOTE
Details of the Adidas deal highlight, however, the changing nature of United's sponsorship agreements, with the 10-year tie-up linked to performance on the pitch unlike previous partnership deals.

United will see the £75m-a-year payment drop to £52.5m if they fail to qualify for the Champions League for two successive seasons.

But although United will not compete in Europe during the 2014-15 campaign, the penalty clause only applies from the start of the Adidas deal from the beginning of the 2015-16 season, so this season's absence of Champions League football will not be taken into account.

Also within the Adidas deal is a clause which states the company can reduce by half their payments to United for every season they spend outside the Premier League should they be relegated.

United stand to gain a £4m bonus, however, on any occasion that they win the Premier League, FA Cup or Champions League.

Fair call on the agree to disagree part.

mid to late January is when the pressure will be highest

Next 2 games are Chelsea and Swansea at home, where our record is better (and Basti is back from his ban).

The 2 games after that are both away (to Newcastle and Pool) and since our away form has been weaker since last season...............

Bilbao had finished sixth under Caparrós but there were growing concerns over his particularly bland style and when Josu Urrutia – a former midfielder and club legend – became Bilbao’s president, Bielsa was instated.

i remember argentina during his time, when they win the WC qualifying, before messi time, crespo as the main FC. they look devastating.

but I dont have much opinion on this guy approach, but what i like is to have the best player in every position.LVG approaches is to bring more versatile player but didnt use them properly. its like using Beckham as a DM during his prime time as winger. we sold chicarito and bring martial in but put him in right winger.

my point is, see how SAF did, he is not that tactical, but just keep it simple, winger play as winger, striker play as striker. this biesla look like same as him, MC train as MC, Striker train as striker. never saw crespo playing as box to box MC during his time lol

This might probably be mr philosophy's last match, regardless of the result later. If he wins - resign. If he loses - sack.

The man utd's board members surely notice the huge discontent of the supporters n the media against lvg. unless of course, they r daft n is willing to stick with boring philosophy n in long run, losing more n more fans.

A win. Always, every single match day regardless of who the manager is, who the owner is, who the players are. All 3 of those change over time, whether you love them, hate them, or don't care about them. I'm too "simple minded" to want anything other than want my team to win, any day of the week.

Whether LVG gets sacked or not depends on the Glazers, not on 1 single result or what the fans and media want. A similar post was made before the Stoke game (and a few games before that, since it's not the first time it has come up this season), and anyone "hoping we lose so LVG gets sacked" essentially hoped for a team loss that changed nothing since he is still manager until today.

If you want to carry on with that kind of logic, then how far do you want to carry it? Will you hope we finish out of top 4 so he gets sacked? Will you hope we finish out of top 10 so he gets sacked? Hope the team kena bungkus 6-0?

How far are you willing to "hope the team loses" before the pain is too much? Nasib baik mod bagi nama "Street Talks" dan bukan "Supporters Thread", this kind of post is unbelievable

The group was playing with such fluency in the early season because players were clicking with each other, with the likes of Shaw and Darmian on either aide of the flanks.

Then the injury happened, and Darmian burnt out faster then I thought he should...and Memphis, sorry to say...is not fit to have the number 7 etched on his jersey atm with his dismissal performance so far.

As of now, it is already too painfull to watch Man Utd game as it is boring, even worst cannot score the goal. Call me a plastic fan, i dun really care, becoz i support to be entertained.... icon_rolleyes.gif

Also there is a lack of leadership thru the squad. Rooney and Carrick may be the captain and vice but doesn't seems to be inspiring the team much

Maybe it's the other way round. He wins the bout against Chelsea, he stays longer until the next unacceptable defeat - sacked. Man Utd loses this match in a bad way, he resigns before getting the Glazers board boot.

Lets get ready snacks for the first half. Either team that performed badly will have their respective fans leaving.

The game looks like it's going to be a battle of attrition (i.e. high chance defense first from both sides and high chance of draw), Chelsea lining up Matic and Mikel at their base

Hopefully bromance bros can work some magic to cut through those 2

Not just Rooney's miss. Kutua save on Herrera, Mata tiang, Mata penalty claim, Martial tiang and Mata miss follow up. Ignoring the Willian handball-penalty claim.

Flip side DDG with 2 quality saves, and Matic did his best Morgan impression in blazing over.

the start of another stretch of 0-0 draw again? our midfielder is back which will make us stronger in the midfield and help the defense. But the forward are still lacking penetration and finishing.

when i saw it's 130am match, i decided to skip the match. that's how low the entertaining value and hope gone to (and it's vs chelsea). i rarely skip matches even if it's at 340am.

see this news really zzzzz...i'm really curious what will be the next match outcome. win big?-0-0 with entertainment or boring 0-0. i don't mind he stays if this is the turnaround and start a run of narrow entertaining win. i really sad if he gets a win, draw, draw, lose and still keeping his job. on record, it's 8 matches without a win @@

Anyway both are staying put - WR & LVG.
Sad case as LVG employs most the players at the position where the players strong point are being stiffled. Except maybe the Defence is OK, OK lah.

first half was exciting, can feel the goals could come. 2nd half last 20 mins almost fell asleep, doesn't expect to score. While scweiny and snaiderlin wasn't playing, our midfield sucks. But we couldn't possibly be relying the 2 players only for the rest of the seasons. Can see the players are trying hard to keep LVG. The problem is really the forwards/strikers. I think we had a descent game it's because Chelsea has bigger problems than us and wasn't really trying at all. If we slump more, our team spirit will be same as Chelsea's and it's not fair and harder for the next Manager to fix. No, I don't , at the current state, I don't want LVG to stay.

Face it guys. We ain't going to have a new manager and stuck with LvG until end of season. If they really want a new manager they already change by now.

Revisiting the match between Man Utd and Chelsea, I'm pretty sure there is not much "philosophy" in play. Man Utd seem dangerous at times. Chelsea is crippled but had some moments.

Wasn't a stellar match if compared to previous clashes. In the past you just know there will be a crowd of red and blue in mamak stalls, I think few days ago only a few people wearing blue and red sitting quietly with teh tarik looking at the screen whistling.gif

Anything can happen. 1 draw with a more positive looking "performance" might alleviate the pressure a bit, but until a proper good run is strung together he is still a run of bad results away from the usual "position is untenable" talk. Next game is home against Swansea, but after that it starts getting more tricky so January will be a huge month.

This guy Andy Mitten writes quite a few good articles about the club, distant relative to a former player and started the UWS fanzine:

Article "from the ground" at OT: http://www.espnfc.com.au/blog/the-match/60...arding-van-gaal

Thoughts on goings on behind the scenes: http://www.dailypost.co.uk/sport/football/...is-van-10662417

Hard to say, since Chelsea came with the aim to defend the key spaces well and hit back fast on the counter, same as last season

This is one matchup where the usefulness of possession stats and "dominance" are harder to rate compared to other games, since Chelsea don't care about dominating anything other than the final score

Its not all LVG's fault, ok?

We simply cannot compete with the likes of Manchester City and Chelsea for big-money signings.

During SAF era, we heavily rely on academy players like Scholes, Giggs, Beckham etc.

572M in 26 years. Just over double of 250M but it took 26 years.

I wonder if those money are counted(?) in those days or nowadays..cause you know, 5-10M in the 90s is a big transfer fee i think. hmm.gif

That's a bit unfair for several reasons:
1) Inflation over that 26 years. In the 90s you could buy the best striker in the PL for < 20 mil. Cole was what, 7mil? Yorke was 12.6 mil. At that time both were "premium EPL" category. Now? Unproven kids also can be priced at that level. If you want to compare $$$ then a more balanced way would be to compare total cost of squad vs squad with our rivals this season. On that bar, LVG is definitely still falling short to a degree. How far short exactly? Well that will only be known at the end of the season (final standings), unless he exits before then.

2) Kayu is the one negotiating the transfers, and he is a newbie at this. If experienced hands like Gill could still (overpay) now and again, a newbie like Kayu is sweat.gif We need a proper pro when it comes to transfer negotiations! Someone like that kwai lan kia Daniel Levy, or smooth operators like the ones at Juventus/Bayern Munich. No club has a perfect transfer record success rate, but the prices we are paying seem to inflate incredibly even with the "name tax" that comes.

Agreed, many players past and present have mentioned this. He really was exceptional.... even compared to a lot of current managers.

SAF is one of the all time greats. His record is way up there, how many managers in world football today can be said to be "fair" to compare with? Mou and Pep are more "flashy", and both have certainly won trophies... but neither have ever stayed at a job for more than 3 years and both have their own negatives as well. We would have wanted neither one of them while SAF was in charge, so why compare our managers that succeeded SAF with him?

All this is assuming the "best managers" even want to come to United, which has yet to be proven. SAF was not one of the top 3-5 managers in the world when he joined us.

Why all the hate against a fan that has differing views?

Fact is both LVG and SAF spent big, but big money doesnt guarantee success. Just look at city and Chelsea during their first seasons.

1m or 500m doesn't matter to the fans, just the owner. As long as the clubs financial position is good and can afford it, i say who cares.

If total spent matters, Liverpool and Tottenham would be 1st and 2nd for the past few seasons and Torres would be the world's best striker when he was at Chelsea.

Just get behind the team. The players need fans support now more than ever. Can't belief that some fans rather us lose than win just to see a change in Manager. Fans....

Fans....

Transfer spending is not even a fair point of measurement in the first place.

If a Pool or Spurs squad is worth 200m. Sells a 50m player and reinvest in one or a few players worth a total of 50m. Their squad is still worth 200m. In fact it will probably be worse off depending on how good the player sold is.

Compare this to a club like City who can afford to not sell any or just selling off some fringe players at most yet is still able to spend 50m each on De Bryune and Sterling. They are adding to their squad value while the rest remain stagnant. This is why many mid table clubs struggle to push on to the next level.

doh.gif He should've kept RM and MP as his assistant coaches instead of bringing in his own backroom staffs..mana tau those two would've helped Moyes and place United in the top 4 instead of number 7... sweat.gif

He also recently said that the jury is still out on Ozil. Wtf, he's been assisting like crazy this season, only halfway of the season over, almost 20 assists. shakehead.gif

He (mistakenly!) thought a 6 year contract meant he had 6 years to take his time to reshape the squad tongue.gif

As for Ozil... well given how Moyes handled his time in the hot-seat, seems he is pretty conservative and slower to decide? Not the sort to make a snap call

Should see the rest of his interviews. Quite funny. Like a war veteran returning from Spain.
Sounds like beating Barcelona is his highest point of his career.

But i don't want laugh too much, later end up he manage Chelsea...

I think realisically, fans do not mind if don't win against big club but losses against lower club especially those just promoted, it is unacceptable.

Lvg logic memang topkek...
Sold hernandez and rvp cause he doesn't want too much competition for forward position. Then why last season you go sign Falcao? Aren't you contradicting yourself?

No wonder the squad so paper thin.

Or rather target the more experienced player will be better...Hopefully MU won't repeat the silly mistake just like the time of selling De Gea...Unacceptable and nonsense...

11.16 GMT: Louis van Gaal defended his decision to let Javier Hernandez and Robin van Persie leave Manchester United as he said he did not want too much competition at the striker's position. FULL STORY.

TOP STORY: LVG 'to hit January sales' for new striker
New year, same pressures for Manchester United, who face Swansea on Saturday at Old Trafford knowing they need to start picking up more points and scoring more goals -- quickly.

On their back pages, both the Sun and the Guardian said United manager Louis van Gaal is poised to address his side's goal-scoring struggles with a move for a new striker in the January window, even if it remains unclear who the man in question might be.

The Sun showed Van Gaal emerging from a Chinese restaurant in Manchester beneath the headline: "LVG orders a No. 9" and said he is "ready to hit the January sales for a new striker who can save his job."

He's really contradicting himself.....

Well, i like Hernandez, but he had chances to score this season to show LvG he's a player to keep. Remember the misses against Newcastle and Brugge? tongue.gif
Glad to see him doing well in Bundesliga though.
