Great job for starting this for educating the general F&F public.

Just an idea -perhaps a A to Z procedure guide for a buyer & seller perspective when buying/selling a used car? From the point of concluding a deal via deposit all the way to banks & JPJ checks?

Hope all can keep spams at minimum by getting trade-in value questions in asked and answered in private.

Thanks.. notworthy.gif

Will do so once I have access to my pc or laptop in the office, Im typing this through my Ipad right now and its not really comfortable to type too long. nod.gif

Hey There

I have a very question that is in need of your help.

I am planing to buy a car directly from the owner, the car is in Miri Sarawak and I would like to transfer that car to KL, so what are the procedures/

1) Bank loan, do I apply bank loan the same way as buying from a car dealer?
2) Car registration, when the car comes to KL, can I register a new number plate for it?

Shipping is available. Costs is btw Rm2 to 4k depending on mode and type of shipping you want.

1) Bank loan, do I apply bank loan the same way as buying from a car dealer?
Do take note that nowadays, most banks won't do direct cases for loans anymore. Means you have to go through the dealer. If the car your are buying is still under loan by the previous buyer, you or your seller would have to settle the bank loan first before you get another loan.

2) Car registration, when the car comes to KL, can I register a new number plate for it?
*

Yes.

All in all, I would suggest you buy from here as it is costly and there is much hassle buying from Sabah / Sarawak.

Hi TS

Can I ask you a million dollar questions:

Do Toyota STILL has the best resale Value?

Or the rules of 20-25% first year value loss followed by 2nd and third year of further 15% each , then 10% value loss yearly from 4th year onwards still apply across the board?

Or has the current scene change that ratio /rules ?
*
I would say the resale value would really depend on the popularity of the car. Even not all models of Toyotas still can command high resale value nowadays. As new and better models of cars are coming out by the buckloads, new car prices getting cheaper and cheaper, market is getting more and more competitive.

quick 1, if my current car still have 2yrs loan, I need to settle the loan before I can sell off, correct? Or, can I take the money (or loan) from the buyer first to pay off my loan?
*
Your buyer or you will need to come out with the cash to settle the loan.

I have a Myvi 5 years old and loan 9 years.
If i would to sell it off, would i have any extra cash after finish off the loan?
Or, if i sell to a friend via sambung-bayar, how is the price being calculated?
*
That you would need to check with the banks. Sambung bayar is a total no no. You know the risks already.

Usually in any advertising site, the seller will put the price for 'body' only, but for the car to going OTR, additional charges can be up to RM5k. Can you explain what are they for?
*
1) Processing fees which include transfer of ownership, inspection at Puspakom, E Hak Milik charges, Runner Fees etc

2) Your insurance

3) Road Tax

4) Other charges

This new rules seems to make it difficult for people to sell cars themselves. Is there some hidden agenda here to profit certain parties? Ala middle man car dealers.
Great job starting this thread btw.
*
Hidden agenda by who??

Its all processes by the relevant authorities in protecting consumers in general. Or rather, just more red tape. Car dealers have to go through the same processes, just that they hire people to get things done and hiring people to get things done are costs to the car dealer. So in the end, the costs gets passed on to the consumer.

Profit certain quarters? I would say Puspakom, MyEg, E Auto.

Transfer of ownership - RM100
Puspakom inspection - around RM100 I think?
Runner fees - around RM300-500

Insurance (car dependable) - at most RM2000

Road tax (let say 1.5L car) - RM90

Total up around RM3k, wow they made quite good profit out of RM5k charged  doh.gif
*
It depends on what car you are buying. If for a car like a Myvi or Saga, then it would be extreme.

Anyway, there are still many costs involved in these kind of transactions. Again, like I mentioned, it depends on the type and price of the car you are buying.

Mate, how much is the current mv for alts 1.8G 2012 car.

In what situation that will increase the car mv?
*
Rm60k.

Increase your car market value? If you can make Toyota stop producing new cars and your car is the only car left in the market, market price might increase. laugh.gif

On a serious note, a car's value is always depreciating and will continue to depreciate.

Dei...! You jual Apple ke jual kereta ni...?  laugh.gif

Anyway I have questions for you...

I intend to transfer ownership of my car from my dad (owner) to me (driver)... Here's what I think of the procedures.

1. Masuk Puspakom for inspection. What other Puspakom inspections for cars without financing (other than B5 and 7)...?
1a. Puspakom inspection they required to koyak tint regardless of VLT count, or just VLT beyond legal limit...?
2. Go JPJ tukar nama, only me go JPJ boleh kah...? My dad super lazy dealing with gov agencies.
3. Settle step 1 and 2 then only deal with insurance, correct boh...? I intend to transfer my insurance from an already sold car which still has 30% NCD.

Is the above procedures correct...?

Further info, car has no loan whatsoever, and it's just name transfer, no buying-selling involved.
*
I jual oren bro..

1) B5 only
2) Sure koyak regardless of your vlt.
3) Both must go.
4) Buy insurance and renew your road tax. You can transfer from your old car. Just notify your insurance agent.

If u need help with inspection, transfer and insurance, I can assist you but of course have to charge for the service. You and your dad come to my office only. nod.gif

Bro trade in value for
1) Saga FLX SE 1.6, 2012
2) Viva Elite 2011
extra question, from your experience, for 9 years loan car (local made), usually how many years to use until can safely trade in without having to topup too much (1k below should be ok). no need to be specific.
nice thread brah
*
1) Saga flx 1.6 Rm17k
2) Viva elite auto Rm16k

To answer your question, you have to pay your loan for at least 5 years for the loan amount and car loan to breakeven. Better to check your full settlement with your bank.
