Hello guys, when I try to book seat with SQ using KF miles for date like 1 year later, for business class saver, the website didn't show waitlist like usually it does on the website, does it mean it is a confirmed seat??
*
Yup if it doesn’t show waitlist then it’ll be confirmed seat! Hope you manage to snatch it! (:

guys, what's the chances of getting upgrade to higher class with a KF gold card? is there any guideline or best practice?
*
Yeah PPS is much more valued by SQ than KF Gold.

But don’t give us hope, if Lady Luck is on your side and your flight is overbooked, you’re definitely in the running and have higher chance to be op-up, compared to lay public like me.

My KF silver friend got op-up before!

What are your backup plan(s) when your flight is waitlisted, eg waitlisted J on SQ? Other than praying very hard, do you confirm a seat on Y?

Be flexible with dates. Can also try star alliance of date is fixed
*
That’s what I’ve been doing. I’ve never waitlisted as I don’t like the feeling of uncertainty.

So my question to those who’s willing to be waitlisted: how do you deal with this uncertainty? And what’s your back up plan if waitlist doesn’t clear?

Which at the last minute can potentially be a very expensive ticket.....

Wondering how do you usually deal with this? Or do you also just redeem confirmed tickets and avoid waitlisting?

QUOTE(charlesj @ May 19 2019, 11:04 PM)
Of course no one like uncertainty, but some people has better flexibility and afford higher uncertainty.
Ie. book ticket for parents / retired, where they can just pack luggage and fly next day
That's why the airlines offer 2 types of redemption (or more), saver and full.
Either you redeem super early (months) in advance or fill up the leftover seats.

Check multiple airlines / flying options, don't stick to single plan (ie die die must fly SIA).
Previously I had running out of options and finally flew Finnair to Europe.
End up the flight is quite pleasant and spent half a day in Helsinki.
I nearly took Condor airlines and after searching for review, I gave up.
Google flight is one of the best place to start with.
For sure you need to take the consequences for playing the game.
Nevertheless, sometimes the price can go low.
Recently I just booked an overseas flight (5 days before travel), where the price is 20% lower compare to 10 days ago!
*
That’s what I’ve been doing now, I make my trip as flexible as possible to accommodate immediate redemption confirmation, on saver of course. And this flexibility for my upcoming trip means cutting short my time in Europe and have to spend 48 hours in Doha. But that’s ok, never been to Doha so am excited to explore Middle East for the first time.

As for airline flexibility, I try as much to fly oneworld to make full use of my oneworld status, and earn points at the same time. But from time to time, I do fly other airlines just to satisfy my avgeek side. Trying out 3 new airlines on my upcoming trip and I hope it’ll be fun!

If my waitlist doesn’t clear I will buy a ticket and get to where I want.

Set yourself a dateline, ie 14 days before flight, if waitlist not clear, just buy.

Thanks for sharing! These are the opinions I’m looking for. Guess you are right, if you wanna play the game you gotta face the consequences. Sorry for the off topic smile.gif

Moved this topic over to this thread as I thought this is more appropriate here:

BAEC Silver is very easily attainable if you do one or two trips on revenue J. again it depends on your flying pattern to finally gauge which FFP suites you. The Avios are nice and handy for short flights, even though they just went through a bout of devaluation recently.

I’ve been doing SIN-SYD-MEL RT for my 4 qualifying flights for the past few years, you can try that too if you do not want to do it in europe.
*
Agree! BAEC is much easier to maintain.

I in the midst of planning my next year’s BA sectors. Usually how much is your SIN-SYD-MEL? I’ve been flying to Europe these past two years. Longggggg journey indeed and one year I booked PEY to make things more bearable.

PS: It’s nice to see another BAEC here!

The fares are a bit on the higher side compared to getting to MEL from KUL on MH, the cheapest I got was around RM2600 ex SIN. But they average out around RM3000+. The SYD-MEL portion will be operated on QF metal just make sure you have the BA number on it and you're all set.
*
Thanks for sharing! That’s about the price I’ve seen. I’m more interested in Europe compared to Aussie, so for this price chances are I’ll be heading to Europe instead, even if it’s only over a long weekend. Yes crazy things I do for this haha...

Yeah I agree. The price is more or less the same if to Europe but just in case you’d pressed for time.

I just came back from a trip to MAD over the long weekend last month for the qualifying sectors, got around 20k + avios and an op up to WT+ on the way back so it’s all fun!
*
Sounds fun indeed, op up is always a happy surprise, best reward for our hard work lol!! I’ve never gotten an op up from BA (yet), even for flight on revenue WT+. I’ll try harder next time!

No problem, you can do at check in (just inform the counter when checking in which frequent flyer number you want to be on your boarding pass). The very latest you can still do it in the lounge. I've check in before, got boarding pass, then while relaxing in lounge only remembered I wanted to credit to another program, so ask the lounge staff to change.
*
Actually lounge is not the last place to add/change FFP.

You can also do add/change FFP at the departure gate.

And if you really fly without a FFP, can always do a retro claim with airline via website or call.

Good evening guys.

I’m newbie, learning to accumulate miles for fly like you guys 😬

I just booked 2tickets for me and my wife from SQ.

I can key in my KF account r my ticket, but for my wife’s ticket, can’t put my acc as it mentioned the name doesn’t match.

Is there a way to credit miles for both tickets into my account only?

Or the passenger’s name strictly needs to be the same as the KF account holder?

Thanks guys.
*
You mentioned you just booked, but have you flown? If not I suppose you can always open another account for your wife now, this time with the correct name. You can enter her FFP number online before you fly, at check in, in SQ’s lounge (if you’re entitled) and at boarding gate. If no FFP is entered, you can do a retro-claim after you fly.
