QUOTE(tishaban @ Jun 3 2016, 07:34 AM) Hi all, This is my first time dwelling into this hobby so need some advice. I have 40k kris flyer pts which is only enough to redeem a one way ticket for my selected location. How do I choose to rdeem the one way ticket and pay for the return ticket? Cos I found out if I redeem one way then buy a separate for return is more expensive than buy return withut redeem. Not make sense to redeem one way haha.. sure need to back ma.. I cannot find the option to redeem one way and pay for return.. I choose return it say i not enough pts.

Another question what is best frequent flyer to use?
I read in online blog say krisflyer is bad cos it has 3 yrs expiry date for the miles and when achieve silver status it only last 1 yr. Good point is it can have 15% off when redeem online.
How about other like enrich or etihad? Any recommend after I use up my krisflyer miles?

QUOTE(tishaban @ Jun 1 2016, 05:57 PM) Thanks for the info bearbear, I'm not in SIN, gave up my PEP some time back. Some of those options aren't so bad, Malaysian banks aren't competitive enough yet or competitive in a different way I guess. QUOTE(bearbear @ Jun 1 2016, 11:47 PM) sadly the last one I can remember of was citibank premier miles that give 60k miles. Since then I dont think there has been anything interesting. Hey guys! Do I also earn miles when I buy ticket for my Family members? Or only applicable to the person flying? Cos I thought if all combine together will earn faster.

QUOTE(tishaban @ Jun 9 2016, 07:05 PM) You earn miles/points various ways. 1. credit card - you earn no matter who you buy tickets for, as long as it's in your credit card 2. flying - only the person whose name is on the ticket and is flying will earn miles So unfortunately no, only the person flying will earn miles and you cannot typically pool miles. QUOTE(gommm @ Jun 9 2016, 07:16 PM) With certain airlines you can in a way. With British Airways, you can create a Household account and then combine miles from different family members to redeem awards. British Airways award chart is not very good though most of the time but there are some sweet spots. One good thing about British Airways is that it's relatively easy to get silver with them which gives you access to Oneworld lounges if you fly premium economy or business (and oneworld airlines often have sales for business). With Qatar Airways, you can also credit family members miles to your account but unless you have status with them, you lose a big percentage of the miles. Plus the award chart from Qatar is pretty awful so I really don't recommend to credit miles to this airline. Much better to fly Qatar's cheap business class and credit to British Airways. So what strategy u all use when travel with family? I use krisflyer. It's quite good right?

QUOTE(psiloveu @ Aug 30 2016, 01:41 PM) If u take domestic flight, the PPL just after the Xray scan, next to MAS Golden Lounge. If you take international flight, there are signage shown "lounge" and u need to use escalator to reach there. Ok so I need pass the imigresen only can go the Lounge la haha. QUOTE(low219 @ Sep 4 2016, 07:07 AM) Really depends on where you are going, the returning leg is normally dearer on a paid ticket whilst a redemption ticket would cost you the same points with the exception of YQ. Eg, it is better to redeem the returning ticket from TPE / HKG than the outbound flight. Not to forget when you price your ticket you will get online discount with SQ, in other words if u are looking at solely on the award chart, there is still a 15% discount on that. If u have 30+k , I think u should hv a return ticket to Hkg on Y. Thanks. I found not worth to be loyal to one airline la. Cos the flight time sometimes not nice need take other company got good timing. So pts collection slower when use few airlines.
