I am planning to buy 2nd hand car. I saw forte 1.6 sx, condition quite good. But the thing is i am not sure about the parts, as kia is not producing forte anymore. So should i pursue buying forte? Or choose another? Thanks in advance

Yup, I was among the first buyers, which is the 4-speed version. 2012 version should be 6-speed, better fuel efficiency. I have no complain at all with the car for these past 6 years of ownership, clocking almost 120,000 km already

No complaint at all. Very recommended.
Just normal wear and tear like battery and tires which every car face.get the 2.0 ones its more powerful.

2.0 should be more powerful but I'm considering the fuel efficiency as well. So maybe just 1.6 for me huhu

1.6 is fine but i suggest you to have test drive it first. going for 70k km service soon in February and so far so good 😊

Fuel is not very efficient for the 1.6 cos of the 17" rims.
I think 2.0 will be more fuel efficient on highway. In city I think almost the same.

Go for 2.0 if it's within your budget. Maintenance cost doesn't differ much. Fuel efficiency is not so decent in jam-infested city driving for both variants.

You'll appreciate the extra power in the long run.

If you can afford the 2.0, don't get the 1.6L ones. 1.6L for such a big body is underpowered. You will need to press the accelerator more to move the car. So in the end, fuel efficiency will not be much of a difference than a 2.0L which can press less on the accelerator.

The only question now is whether are you willing to fork out ~RM380 for a 2.0L car roadtax compare to a RM90 1.6L

Hi tS.. i own a 1.6 sx year 2012., the 6 speed version..mileage now @80+km
1st thing, some ppl mentioned that it is underpower?.. im sure ull not going to use it for weekend track days, otherwise, if ure using for normal commute/highway cruising then shud be no problem.. power is there.. if u want a powerful racing car than---- evo, gtr, lfa, wiralution etc is THAT WAY--->.. hahah JK JK..

trust me.. learn to use the pedal shift then u know how to harness the power u need from this car. for me, i found the power is suffice enuff for normal driving or even in highways. i normally cruise around 140kmh, but if u really need to go fast, then 200kmh+ is achieveable using this "underpowered" engine. I tried that..but only for a short while, not even pedal to the metal yet, just to make point as this car is not built for racing purpose.

Performance aside, FC is good, highways im able to achieve around 5.6L/100km @ 110kmh, mix drive, around 8-10ish. compare with 2.0, i dont know, never try, never had it..but like others are saying, 2.0 wud be better in FC dept i think..i think..

So far i just changed the battery which cost around RM260 (din55 iinm.) The rest, just follow the scheduled maintenance by SC, tho i found the cost is still quite high. Normal change of engine oil (FS 5w30 petronas) is around RM300. I just changed the brake pads for ~RM500 incl w/manship. other services wud range from RM300 up to RM900. So, be prepared for that amount of cash.

Only problem with this car is, the steering tends to steer to the left, which i found it annoying, its like having a real bad alignment, altho i have numerous times sent it to SC, tyre shops to get it align..the problem is still there even until now. Other problems, none so far. Engine, gbox all still good.

For 2012 1.6SX, be sure to get the unit with full infotainment 7inch dvd, gps unit and DRL if u can, as that is the final batch of those cars which naza shoved all sorts of goodies they can find to attract buyers to clean those stocks.. Good luck.

Same as what you will check for any other car I think, as mechanically there is nothing different with other cars. If you're really not confident, just bring a foreman to go with you

check the mileage and service record.

I recommend getting the 2.0l 6-speed. Reliability wise no problems.

In terms of fuel economy, its not bad depending on your feet.

1st batch 1.6sx, 4 speed here. car wise, no major problem.

some hack if you want more joyful ride but I also haven't done so.
one of the hack is to use BLM spring for the rear absorber.

warranty is not so useful. so much hassle just to claim some parts. some with near perfect service record also got their claim rejected. so don't bother with warranty.

in term of maintenance, just do it outside. SC of course it will be expensive.
if you're in klang valley, please visit Korean Car Mate or Autosaver or any other Korean's Car workshop specialist.

Of course for alignment or air-cond, any tyre shop or coolant specialist will do.
