Just received this by email. So effective 22nd of Dec, CIMB Kwik can't be use for online purchases anymore, unless we call them to allow it. Following Maybank's debit card route.

The very first item listed as the feature is online shopping, and they going to block it by default. wut

at least still can call to activate, not like mbb debit card.

i just do the sms thingy to opt-in.
now still no prob to buy online.
just now i use to pay as google wallet ok ja.

For Kwik must call. Cannot sms.

u sure ka? coz i received the confirmation sms said that im opted-in already using my kwik no.
that mean i still need to call ka? that sms already cost me 30sen la.. aish

Sms for CIMB debit card. For KWIK must call over.

Called twice but my KWIK card is still blocked. I don't know why since both customer service ladies told me the same thing, which is to try after half an hour. Steam and also Origin.

ya la my kwik not working anymore.
just now forced me to use debit card.
i'll try to call later if they can do something about my kwik.
dont really like it using my debit card like this.

So much face palm. Called them up, must go through very tight verification. First 2 times I failed. They asked me what was my last transaction, I said it was from Steam, they even wanted to know what is it you particularly bought from Steam, was it for Steam wallet or games etc, just 1 slight wrong info they will say that you've failed their verification process. Quick advice, make sure you log in and have your account info infront of you, they'll ask transactions within the past few months, current account balance, how much you top up in xxx month, etc

Damn, I'm having the same problem also, called customer service earlier today to opt in, woman told me to wait 2 hours. I waited like more than that; and then proceeded to try to purchase a game off the steam store. Didn't work *Tried both on Steam platform and website.*

That's horrible, and cimb transaction history is usually incomplete and slow to update.

That's unfortunate, have you successfully gone through their verification process? Given you an okay after the verification? They asked me to wait for 10 minutes only. After 10 mins I'm able to purchase games on Steam.

Actually SMS is not for everyone. If you receive sms from them, then you're eligible to opt in with sms. Otherwise you need to call them. I'm not really sure how they select their user base that can opt in via sms, probably for older KWIK card holders.

Edit: My mistake, didn't read properly. I don't know about their other debit cards. But for KWIK have SMS option also, same as what I explained above/
