For making VOIP calls over 64kbps, I'm trying out the following apps. Some seems to work.

Right now, I'm testing with one phone on wifi in front of the TV as audio source calling another phone on DiGi 64kbps. Tomorrow will try with an actual conversation with a real person.

Facebook Messenger - Can't connect
ooVoo - Works, quality ???
vSee - Works (turn off video), quality ???
fring - Can't connect
mumble - Works, will need own server for privacy
Ventrilo - untested, will need own server
Skype - untested
Whatsapp - untested
Line -
Wechat -
Viber -
Chaton -
Kakaotalk -
Yahoo Messenger -
Facetime Audio - Unable to test, iPhone 4 does not support Facetime Audio over data
Google Hangouts -
UberConference -

Thanks for checking that out. I went to digi center and asked which prepaid pack can use talktime transfer, they said only prepaid best pack. Since it is not working on best v1, I guess one has to subscribe to best v2 to get talktime transfer. I also asked to mnp my number to digi v1 but they said it is not available anymore, only to best v2 or smart prepaid pack.
*
That's bad news. May I ask which Digi Centre? I did mine at C180, Cheras Selatan last Weds 2 Mar and at that time, New Best v1 was still available.

You can always ask digilife here to do the MNP for you.

I was wrong, I couldn't access Talktime Transfer because I didn't have enough credit. See here: http://new.digi.com.my/ecomm_C/services/de...lktime_Services

I tried on another number also with SLL and IDDIC, this one with credit RM20 and Talktime Transfer works.

IDDIC (rm10 but so far ppl said no charged yet) + SLL (rm38)

This is the closest I can find to an official statement about IDDIC.From Digi's forums:

DG website still has this item on IDDIC under their prepaid plan FAQ. It made me wonder if the RM10 fee is only charged to foreigners?

[attachmentid=6153978]

Maybe that's why. In the forums, when people ask, they always reply with RM10 charge for IDDIC until recently when they said the RM10 is waived until further notice.

It is the one at Alamanda. I also called digi to ask whether they can mnp to best v1 but same answer, only possible to v2.
Maybe try another DiGi Store. Don't trust the helpline, I also called DiGi's Helpline last week before I made the MNP and they gave the same answer that only Best v2 is available.

I planned to get digilife mnp mine but now buzzme looks good as well. I dont use internet much but when I need it I would like it to be fast which is what offered by buzzme although costs a bit more.
Also just found out xox has season pass which with its 28 months validity makes it quite a good deal. 8gb season pass costs rm110 which can be divided to minimum 500mb per month so a month of internet would cost 110/16=rm6.875. If my math is correct, with rm220 you can get almost 3 years of internet by taking advantage of free monthly data when you top up at least rm30 per month. That would equate to rm73.33 per year with 1.5gb left in the season pass. After the 3 years it will cost considerably more because of extension cost. It costs much more than best v1 and certainly more complicated but it is the best alternative after digi v1 and buzzme in terms of cost.
Thanks for checking it again. Looks like what I suggested could work but perhaps not practical, there does not seems to be much demand for talktime at least here in the forum.
*
I actually tried to MNP to Buzzme before DiGi back in Dec. I contacted them via FB Messenger but the list of the 5 dealers near my house, that they gave me, either didn't do Buzzme or have stopped dealing with them.
https://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?showtopi...post&p=77799027
Also was worried about where to reload. mynews.com doesn't do Buzzme reloads. I didn't check 7/11. Failed to register at their website, didn't get the verification email. etc, etc, etc. It wasn't very reassuring.

I use MyDigi, the website. I think can also use the MyDigi app. Not sure, haven't tried. btw, it's 20, 10 DiGi + 10 non-DiGi.

btw, did you get your IDDIC 64kbps activated?

Just want to note that Digi IDD Club 64kbps is sufficient for Pokemon GO gameplay. Loading is a bit slow, after that it's alright.

What is the cheapest way to register & get a Digi Prepaid SIM? Pre-loaded value not necessary. Any way to get it free?

I saw there is a new promo by Digi that only requires you to pay RM188 then can stay active for the whole year, comes with data every month also, it's called the Long Life Super Prepaid if not wrong.

QUOTE(soyabean123 @ Feb 28 2018, 07:06 AM)
Hi all, i am not sure if this the right place to ask. I am looking for a very affordable solution.

I recently join MNC company working as a sales. Problem is my company provided me a company iPhone which we cannot download & install “whatsapp”. It is said to be restricted to use due to insecure platform. Hence, only SMS and call are allow to communicate with my customers. This is very inconvenient for both me and my customers. sad.gif

I have a personal iphone, and a company iphone carry with me the whole time. Should i get another phone just solely for work purpose using only the “whatsapp”? Thinking of carry 3 phones and walking around is kinda hassle for me. I actually do not wish to use my personal phone number to whatsapp my customers (all my colleagues using this way). I want to have clear line between work and personal. If leave me no choice that i need to get a phone solely for whatsapp, which are the telco prepaid plan that offer the very basic internet or whatsapp at very affordable rate? (Only for WHATSAPP, no internet browsing, youtube, fb etc.)

Any suggestion? I did googled like having 2 whatsapp installed on an iphone. It is possible But I have concern regarding the app stability, how it works and also security.

Please advice.

One way to have a 2nd WhatsApp number on the same phone is to use WhatsApp web.

But you'll still need the 3rd phone active but at least you don't have to carry it around with you.

Any can recommend cheap prepaid plan for longest validity with free sms. I use this for arduino project
*
Free SMS I don't know but can you use instant messaging apps? I use Telegram API/bot for my router for status updates with DiGi 64kbps basic data. Paid SMS as backup when there's absolutely no data network. My biggest prob with SMS is that there's no ACK for the message.

Mine is legacy DiGi SLL RM38 per year with IDDIC 64kbps data. 1GB/month

Currently DiGi SLL is RM108 per year with free 64kbps data. 1(?)GB/month

Hmmm .....

Please take a peek at hotlink subforum ... info is currently scarce but its coming out slowly nonetheless ... apparently the *365# option first came out last year and not many knew about it back then ...

I tried it just now. RM60 for 365 validity. Says plan will be changed to Hotlink #hashtag plan. This plan is really old right? Anyway I didn't confirm to see if it will go through.

Hmmm .....

Yea, #hotlink was (6 plus years ago?) prior to FAST v1,have basic internet and restricted to older hash-tag internet plans ... kenot sub to FAST, RED or HUP35 plans ...

My guess is that this would be the option hotlink will offer to those looking for *365# and gets to make rm60 for dormant lines ...

Here's the screenshot of the USSD. Forgot to post just now.

Anybody want to try? I only have one Hotlink Red number which is active all the time. If can, RM60 is a lot cheaper than DiGi's RM108.

All unlimited does not have long validity, need monthly contribution.

There's a rare exception to this. The older DiGi Best prepaids with RM38 1-year validity, IDDIC for free basic internet and which is offered the auto-renew RM1/day unlimited data. For the former, you'll need an old number with the old plan and that you managed to subscribe to IIDIC (both no longer available). For the latter, have to wait until DiGi offers it to the number.
