ATM to clarify involvement in Saudi military mission



KUALA LUMPUR: The Defence Ministry will be seeking clarification from the Malaysian Armed Forces (ATM) whether Malaysian military personnel are involved in a Saudi Arabian military mission, said its minister Hishammuddin Hussein.

He said Malaysia supported efforts to eradicate terrorism in terms of doctrine and ideology, but not from a military standpoint.

“I have stated from the beginning that we are not involved militarily,” he said when commenting on Saudi Arabia’s state news agency SPA’s report stating that Malaysia was participating in a massive military mission, deemed ‘critically important’ together with about 20 other countries.

“Military training does not mean we are directly involved in operations. Besides, I will not allow it …as to what was reported today (by SPA), I have not seen the extent of involvement in the training,” he said.

Prior to this, the minister had stated that Malaysian troops have been sent to Saudi Arabia for training purposes.

Not a big fan. Sure Gatlings can spew hot lead like nobody's business, but it eats ammunition like hell and needs an external power source to operate. Hope those AV4s have tons of extra ammo unless you want to shoot those Gatlings for a grand total of 5 seconds.

If vehicle is disabled at least crew can detach mounted machinegun and lug it around with reasonable effort. 1 guy (or even 2 in case of M2HB) carry the gun and others carry the ammo.

While you can detach a minigun to use it on foot, but it will be too much hassle (battery, weight, tons of extra ammo etc etc) to be much effective.

Just saw a video of a TOW shot against a T90 in Syria. T90 did not explode into a ball of fire. Looks like the new armor is good.

T-90SM with Relikt ERA is even better.....Perhaps what's in Syria is Russian-provided T-90A with Kontakt-5

so problem could be from maintenance failing to differentiate imperial and metric measurement units to just plain accessories dont fit (ie. fuel pumps ) ?
