Uh OH...why dis this happen.. shakehead.gif  no ACCA thread in Education Essentials then???
Well Sunway college has got themselves a gud reputation, ask they're called the Premier Plus ACCA College.. so alot of students who are already excellent & Brilliant students will definitely Join sunway after SPM la.. so since they have the cream of the crop..Sunway will continue to do well! and the circle continues..... wink.gif

So cant say Sunway College MAKES brilliant students.. its just that they already have them biggrin.gif
*
Too much spams and mindless chatters.. tongue.gif there goes our ACCA v2 hur???

But i think we can still create a thread there.. Just, make it more formal.. tongue.gif

Actually, if i'm not mistakened, previously, Sunway achieved premier plus due to it being selective on registering students.. I mean, previously, if you do not fare well during the mock exams, they will not register you as a sunway student.. That's why they've got a high passing rate...

But i dont think they practise that anymore.. Something about ACCA forbidding such selections now... Or something like that..

u don't come on msn much hur?? hehe

Sooooo, no one's gonna recreate an ACCA thread in educations and essential??

Maybe this time we'll stick strictly to official ACCA stuffs?

Philip Woo's class is jointly held with Jackson Chan?? Does that mean that they both will teach the same batch/class of students?

Wouldn't that be pretty bad? Seeing as the lecturers will for sure have different methods of teaching??

Btw, great that this thread it's back to EE.. Now, let's stick to related discussions.. smile.gif

good introduction lor...just want to add some on top that...sunway library is also another attractive place with a helpful librarian ;there are internet access and lots of revision book which might help in someway & the air-cond there definitely make you awake because it is really super cold

there are lots of benches where student get to do some study group with each other and are normally ACCA student .

talking about public transport. yup there are "mini bus"-cost 80cents per trip and lots lots of taxis. i believe this is an important facility to most of the student in sunway.

to all the juniors who are going to sunway coming this sitting, it will be a great study experience.
*
Wow.. .blatant advertising for sunway?? hmm.gif hmm.gif hehehe tongue.gif

Oh, btw, just a note to new registrants to ACCA in sunway college, there's an entrance scholarship you can try applying for.. RM4k max i think.. It's worth a shot.. smile.gif

It applies both to CAT/ACCA

Here's a gentle reminder, with the thread being moved back to Education Essential, those who starts unrelated post to ACCA will definitely get a warning from the mods which would hardly happen if the thread remained at Kopitiam. Do remember that it was your call that this thread to be moved back here.

3.4 n 3.5 is connected izit? Parmindar also can teach 3.5?  hmm.gif but his 3.4 is popular and good....3.5 good or not?
BTW, that ANdy Tan from McO ok or not? From his picture profile look like very yau yeng only....haha biggrin.gif
But, for 3.5 in McO always lectured my Mr Michael Marwaning right? Y suddenly changed 2 that Andy? Anyone attend 3.5 in McO for Dec 2006 sitting? Last sitting T/T got Michael woh...he taught full time.....
*
They're both connected to a certain extent.. There are a few topics which are overlapping if i'm not mistakened.. I didnt however took 3.4.. SO i really can't comment much on it.. But yea, all i know is that it IS somewhat connected..

Michael doesn't teach full-time la.. He comes here from London School of Accountancy once a year to teach the IRC.. But last year, he came here after results as well for a week to give an intensive refresher course or something like that.. No idea if he's coming or not this year..

I was in his IRC for dec 2006 sitting btw.. any questions?? smile.gif

FTC arh, where to get it? what is the content of the book; note and question or note alone? is it similar to BPP textbook concept? hmm.gif
*
Just wanted to share my experience, throughout my years in ACCA, i almost never touched the textbook at all..

There are just too much jargon's and at least half of what's written in the book would be "the" "of" "a", if you get what i mean.. It's just too long to read.. Furthermore, not everything in it is examinable, as some examiner tend to omit certain topics as it is not really relevant..

Stick to lecturer's notes.. It's more compact and you just don't have the time to go through text books.. But of course, if you want to, by all means, go ahead.. I'm just saying it's really not necessary.. Overrated you could say.. tongue.gif

wahhh rm1640 per paper for the core in FTMS ????? ohmy.gif so expensive!!!!! is this the normal classes or special incentive classes or seminar like that???

and then, is it the same between part time and full time classes in FTMS and KSA? i mean any different in the aspect of teaching environment? i heard normally FT class is more effective  unsure.gif
*
Wow.. 1640 per paper?? And you say Sunway's price is expensive? I think sunway's price is 1.3k? not sure.. Forgot.. But it includes revision course as well..

Normally, PT would be cheaper wouldn't it? As from what i know, PT should be cheaper.. But classes are held at nights and weekends.. If i'm not mistakened, PT gets less classes too.. But besides that, it should all be the same..

Erm, how much ll it helps by knowing legal liability bla bla to prevent another enron case..?? It jus like teaching a samseng civiks education (pendidikan moral).. Dun tell me the enron case, he himself dunno his own risk of doing it..
*
Basically, i guess it's like learning Moral back in high school. It just teaches you what's right and/or wrong. What you should do and what you should NOT do. Don't think it has anything to do with legal liability. It's just to instil an ethical behavior when you're in the working world.

Does ACCA recognised by government ?? Is it equivalent with degree in the view of government??[/b]
If I wan to teach secondary school or become tutor or work in government field, is it possible with ACCA since I don't have any Degree??
*
ACCA IS recognised by the Malaysian government. It should be possible to be a tutor or work in government school with an ACCA certificate. ACCA indirectly makes you a member of the MIA if i'm not mistakened. And so, if ACCA is not recognised, therefore MIA is not recognised as well.

You can always opt to get a degree from OBU if you're afraid. However as far as i know, OBU is NOT recognised by the Malaysian government. No problem for private firms though.

QUOTE(-= Virgil =- @ Jan 3 2007, 07:59 PM)
To all those who have finish their OBU, i am planning to take the OBU this semester.. I wonder if any of you has any tips on topics that are easy to gain marks & information about the topic easily obtainable.
*
Topic 8 is the easiest in my opinion. You don't have to make any trips for interviews and stuffs. Everything is available via the internet.

OT: Happy birthday belladonna!!! (albeit it's belated tongue.gif tongue.gif, But hey, its the thought that counts right?)

Is Topic 8 "Analysis of financial situation of an organisation" ?

Wouldnt that require interviewing key staffs of the respected organisation?
*
Yes.. That's the one..

No.. You do not have to interview anyone.. It's not compulsary at least.. You can complete the whole report with just the 'annual reports' of the relevant company.. At least that's what i did.. In the annual reports, there will be a section from the 'directors remarks'.. You may quote from there if you wish to i guess..

now i wonder where i can buy study texts and revision online?(2.3 Mys)

i intend to sit my 2.3 paper in Malaysia since my visa is going to finish in April. i wonder whether there are facilities for me to sit 2.3 UK variant in malaysia?

Colleges in Malaysia, how many classes do u all have to attend? i heard Sunway have class everyday. How about other college?
*
Yes.. You can take UK tax variant in any of the Malaysian exam centres. Just be sure to mark UK variant when you register for the paper.. smile.gif

And it solely dependso n u if u plan to work in the UK or Malaysia. If you plan to work in Malaysia, then Malaysian tax variant is more variant.. And vice-versa..

Happy Chinese New Year. I'm new in ACCA. Just registered in December. Suppose to get exemption for part 1 and 2, however, when I receive my student pack, it states that I'm not exempted for paper 2.3 and 2.5 while the rest of my frens that graduated from the same uni gets full exemption in part 2. May I know wats going on? Anyone has similar problem before or not? Wat must I do now? Can someone pls help me...give some advice on this? Thank you.
*
Maybe you can send a write up to ACCA to enquire them about it?? email would do too.. but make it quick though.. smile.gif If not, u can go to the tuition provider you're enrolling in and ask them about it?
