I think this is better than Thermalright XP-120 in sense of compatibility since it looks actually smaller and taller.

QUOTE(unamed @ Dec 8 2006, 09:59 PM) I think this is better than Thermalright XP-120 in sense of compatibility since it looks actually smaller and taller. i dont agree with that.. the heatpipe from xp 120 have some compactibility with alot of mobo. for example, my mobo, the heatpipe will bend my mobo 'coil' if try to install it. that's why, my mobo 8knxp is under NOT Compactible list. sigh..this heat sink have high clearance. Edited: just saw this. just recieved quotation from US. $52.99 (heatsink) + $25.30 (postage EMS) = $78.29. i using USPS EMS service, can track it globally, with insurance and can reach at my doorstep within 3 to 5 days. $78.29 * 3.7 = RM289.673. is it worth?

![]() okay, regarding of what i've said earlier...... do you see the \ | / bone shape like on the fins ? it helps to narrow the air to the bottom of the base. heatpipe does not have heat capacity, meaning it cannot store heat, so no matter how many heatpipes you use (unless it's the space technology 2-way flow heatpipe), the base will remain hot as usual, hence with the fins which are all connected from the base to the top, the heat can radiate through the fins and heatpipes effectively. from the usual 92mm motor diameter size, the air can still push down to the base effectively cooling the base of the heatsink.... i would think that XP-120 with (5 heatpipes) is the best provided if they come out with a copper version....but it's not available anyway Tower heatsinks like Scythe Ninja and Infinity can be greatly improved if there's also active cooling at the bottom..... ![]() you see the heatsink screwed to the base ? i mean that part......cooling that part will lower the lowest temperature you can achieve with putting a fan to blow the fins connected to the heatpipe.... and the XP-90C works better coz it's all connected and the fan can cool that part effectively |

QUOTE(E-J@1 @ Dec 10 2006, 11:46 AM) err, this is also a mystery i've trying to solve......but there are several factors to consider - number of heatpipes - the ratings of the heatpipes (rated in how much heat/Watt per sec i think) - heatpipe orientation (heatpipe works better in vertical/ against gravity position) - fins on the heatpipes (like the "8" shapes heatpipes on the Zalman 9500) - utilised front and end heatpipes as the source of convection of heat (like in Zalman 9500, 3 heatpipes, but the fronts and ends are soldered to the sourse) so far, AFAIK, Thermalright/Thermaltake/Zalman/CM dare not to post the ratings of the heatpipes that they used, coz the good ones are not that cheap to be used on heatsinks |

QUOTE(irangan @ Dec 12 2006, 10:31 PM) it is not hard to get a passport la.. 1 day process only. get one and we can hang out at one of the pub in Geylang road. Err?personally, i think malaysia stuff is cheaper but sg shop have more wider range of item to choose from especially in cooling department. Where can i apply for a passport? Really want to go to SG with you two, but, i don't have any money now, maybe next week or next month, i will be filthy rich again and that's the time i will upgrade my pc... So, the hardwares sold in LYP malaysia is cheaper compared to SLS singapore? Not demanding, but, can give any proff for that? Because i'm going to upgrade my pc to some big big stuff, but need to know which place have a cheaper price first... Gonna change these few things below: Processor - [Waiting for Kentsfield or maybe a new intel processor that the FSB is 1333MHz] Motherboard - Should i go for AW9D-Max or Gigabyte's DQ6? [Which is better? 965X or 975X?] Rams - Looking for another two piece of 512MB Micron D9 DDR800 that's the same with what MJOE sells Harddisk - Going for Sata 2 [Not sure about the size though, which brand is the best?] PSU - adding another Enermax Liberty 500W to the setup GC - Should i go for 8800GTX or wait for ATI R600? Soundcard - Which one is the best? [Budget for soundcard is locked at a price tag below RM500] Casing - This is the main part, which one should i get? PCA10? Any recommendation is very much appreciated... |

As i said yesterday, I will do a mini review after I obtained AS5 from moderno. So here is my mini review on Scythe Andy Samurai Master on my rig.
Information: My rig spec is at my signature. The comparison is between Intel Stock Cooler (i dont have any other CPU Cooler) and Scythe Andy Samurai Master. Please note that the thermal paste on my Intel Stock Cooler is fully sinked in (15days+), Zalman STG1 and the thermal paste that i used on my Scythe Andy Samurai Master is just applied (< 2hour), Arctic Silver 5. here we go I just bought this cpu cooler from a singapore's supplier at SGD 80.00. Currently it is only available in Japan and China. Its official global launch is at early January 2007. Expected or recommended retail price is SGD 84.00. You can find more information at its official website. Official Link to Scythe Andy Samurai Master Here is some pic of the heatsink: As usual, Scythe heatsinks come with mirror clear base. You can see my Canon Power Shot DC from the pic Installation: Actually, I found that its installation is very easy and effortless. I just select the correct mounting and secure its to the base of the heatsink. As for the contact, I used the grain method when applying AS5 and it cover 80% of the surface of the processor. This clearly showed that Andy have a good contact with the processor. *I forgot to take pic of it. Results: Intel Stock Cooler with Zalman STG1 as TIM (applied around 15 days ago, *fully sinked in) During IDLE 33'C after 20 mins of IDLE During Full Load 53'C after 31mins of Stress Test Scythe Andy Samurai Master with Arctic Silver 5 as TIM (just applied it) During IDLE 30'C after 20 mins of IDLE During Full Load 40'C after 1 hour of Stress Test Analysis There is a decrease of 3'C during IDLE and 13'C during Full Load after installing Scythe Andy Samurai Master even when the Intel Stock Cooler is using fully sinked in Zalman STG1 while Scythe Andy Samurai Master used just applied Arctic Silver5. Probably there will a drop in temp after the Arctic Silver5 fully sinked in Overall, I am quite satisfied with the result. Probably you guys will flame me but this is not an actual review, i just want to show my new cooler to u guys Note: I already ordered Silverstone FM121 fan for this cooler. I will post again my result when I using that fan This post has been edited by irangan: Dec 26 2006, 02:42 PM |

I suggest you to get the heatsink from Singapore instead, it'll be hard to find the right heatsink there. Every city in China is too big to travel around. It'll cost quite a sum for transportation fees alone.

QUOTE(gmail @ Dec 26 2006, 07:03 PM) @irangan i not sure about the price.. but if u can afford to purchase Andy, why not increase your budget abit and get a Thermalright Ultra 120 or Scythe Infinity or Noctua NH-U12 may i know how much is the heatsink selling in china? my father is going 2 china next week, if the price is nice, might ask him 2 bring back 1 4 me. i go for Scythe Andy Samurai Master because it is shorter in height, thus, can fit my small icute casing and not because it can outperform those highend heatsink from Thermalright, Scythe and Noctua btw, Rlhh is correct. it is not worth to buy in China. it is more expensive if u calculate all those transportation charges and so on. btw, it is abit tedious for your dad to look for that heatsink |
