Got quoted RM12k for 11x20'. Not concrete slab, but concrete sides with roof shingles on top. Worked it out on a calculator, that's nearly RM55 / sq ft. Is that extremely high? Have not accepted yet. Wondering if it would be a lot cheaper if switch to straight concrete slab.

Note: the 11x20 is exactly half of the 22x20 front yard. Don't know if that makes a difference or not. The other half is open air.

I think 15K is reasonable.
Did you get an engineer to come up with the design?
This is quite big ... a normal size beam can extend up to 20 feet. Yours is 22ft ... you should be careful.
Some contractors use CQ rebar to maximize profit which is dangerous.

The best is to get an engineer to size up the footings (how big and how deep), the ground beams, columns etc.

If I do this myself I am sure it will not exceed 15K.

If u are choosing Shingles roof then u have to pay for the premium. If u looking for budgetary, go for monier tiles.

Monier is cheaper? I thought it'll be more expensive, compared to chaplang no brand stuff.

Wait. Maybe I'm using the wrong word. I thought "shingles" is the generic word for roof tiles, can be made of concrete fibre, ceramic, or whatever. We didn't actually specify what. He just said it will be the same material as the existing roof.

if concrete slab is this price you can do,
then I think half of the malaysia developer project you can get
and I think you might be a Top 10 Contractor company in Malaysia ...
you hv the most labor because your project is too too too much .......

kl price not sure. might more or less.
but here is around 40-45/sqf ..
concrete slab - G25, Y12 Steel bar, footing, beam, waterproof
only cover wetwork

if hv hacking, need add some more.

bear in mind, please ask how they do the roof ..
as the concrete slab is very heavy.
some "BAD" contractor only using BRC net for roof ...
I know ppl won't believe it,
but once you have see it,
you will believe... smile.gif
