Build quality is less superior compared to competitors (since you have Y500, you know better than me for Lenovo gaming laptop)

Less room for upgrade (SSD, ram etc)

cooling feature makes me less interested due to hot air blown out in between hinge (middle).

I'm using a Lenovo Y50-70. Heat is a problem when you are playing games. Some games will cause it to heat up to really uncomfortable levels on the whole keyboard. The system temperature ranges from 60 to 91 celcius based on what I have experienced.

If you don't mind the heat, the performance of the laptop is not bad. It does everything I expected it to do. Mine is an older version with the 860M Maxwell 4GB. I don't have many of the latest games but I am able to push it to the max graphics settings on GTA5 at 1080p with a constant frame rate of 30 and above.

If you're not the graphics junkie, the newer 960M will provide a few frames more than what I have described. Just don't expect it to max out every graphic setting in most games. You should be able to get med-high settings for almost all the games at the moment.

There is only one SATA connector for storage so its either an expensive SSD or a large HDD drive. No M.2 expansion slots or anything else and it's a pain in the @ss to swap hard disks. You have to remove 12 screws to remove the back cover for RAM and HD changes.

The keyboard for typing isn't very comfortable but you'll get used to it after a while. The touchpad on the other hand is absolute garbage in my book. Touchpads which combine the buttons and the touch surface together isn't very user friendly IMO. You might find it better but I find it really difficult to use. Get a USB mouse.

The best aspect of the laptop has to be the sound system. It's pretty good for a laptop of this price, it is sufficiently loud and more detailed than a lot of the laptops out there. This is one of the laptops where the built-in's are loud enough to fill a room.

If you're a heavy gamer, this is not for you. You'll want a 970M or better.

Thank you for your opinion. When i used y500, i faced the heating problem too, near to the fan. After how long of gameplay u face the heat problem? For normal use like editing n browsing, doest it heat up too?
And beside the heating problem, is there any other problem u are facing when using this machine?

That I agree on the sound system part, JBL speaker is sufficient for normal use, but cant compare to those external speaker lah. I did consider 15.6" Y510p before, but add up budget go for GT70 2OC, 17", maintenance friendly, large screen, better experience. The only disadvantage is heavy.

But if given chance, I would go for G750 series instead of MSI, cheaper price with GTX970M

So you realy happy with MSI? Ever brought it for service center before? How about the prices?

I usually feel the heat within one hour. The good thing is the heat dissipates very quickly too.

Do note that when I switch on my laptop, sometimes I leave on for >12 hours at one stretch so that might be a reason for all the heat too.
*
So other than the heat issue, you will recommend y50-70? Btw what is ur spec? Since there are many spec for this machine. Thanks in advance

3 years so far only illegear can offer, Alienware is out of your budget already, you can check in illegear official website
lowyat forum, but make sure check the model name and spec correctly

price wise, bring leng lui to bargain for more discount brows.gif

free gift just check whether it is manufacturer or seller, got difference, sometimes sellers will use manufacturer free gift as their free gift, then list out RMX00 you can save. rclxub.gif

Okey2. Maybe i will give a visit to lowyat this weekend n survey for the prices. Thanks

Here are my specs:

Win10 Pro 64-bit
Core i7-4710HQ 2.5 Ghz
16GB RAM
GTX 860M 4GB Maxwell
256 GB Intel 520 SSD

You'll get the GTX960M now with either 2/4GB VRAM. I recommend this laptop. It hasn't failed me so far.

MSI providing more room space for upgrading hardwares like SSD/HDD , RAM , M2-SATA
Bad side which is Sacrifice battery life.

Asus Provide SSD/HDD , RAM only
Good side which offers better Battery Life
