QUOTE(calvin @ Dec 9 2015, 10:20 AM) would it be viable to make 1-Day trips to places like Iiyama,Niigata etc from Tokyo ? or better to stay one day each and hop to every spot every other day ? not sure what Iiyama and Niigata has to offer, but distance wise or travelling time from tokyo is almost half day. better split to one day. |

QUOTE(stimix @ Jan 9 2016, 12:07 AM) Normal. No offkine maps available for Japan. Nevertheless, Do not clear your historical data & cache b4 you leave Japan. Maintained the Japan maps that you have view vecause you still can view the offline googlemaps in detail & current location without any data although you can't navigate. thanks bro |

KL > Osaka > Takayama > Kyoto > KL Just came back from Takayama last week If I stayed another week I could have experience more snow But after -8c at Shin-Hotaka, I am glad I found the sun Anyway here's some details: > My trip started from Kansai Airport, arrived close to 11pm and overnight at a nearby budget hotel > Morning come and I went to Osaka station to collect the Takayama Hokuriku (TH) pass > Then 5 hours train ride from Osaka station to Takayama station > Basically I just want to cover Shirakawago | Shin-Hotaka | Shinzanso Onsen | Takayama | Kyoto > Most of my train tickets even to Shirakawago has been covered by TH Pass except for the Shin-Hotaka Ropeway > For those who want to go for Shirakawago Light Up should observed the dates and to book accommodation early > Shinzanso Onsen was awesome, food was elaborate and the view from the rotenburo was gorgeous > Takayama is very famous for Hida Beef, you can easily find it around Takayama town > In addition is think they are famous for their woods and craftsmanship Some useful links: > Takayama Hokuriku Pass - http://www.japan-guide.com/e/e2361_takayama_hokuriku.html > Timetable/fare to Shirakawago, Shin-Hotaka and many other places - http://www.nouhibus.co.jp/english/index.html > Pass to Shin-Hotaka Ropeway - http://shinhotaka-ropeway.jp.e.uk.hp.transer.com/ Some pic[s]: This post has been edited by JooSeng: Jan 22 2016, 11:31 AM |

QUOTE(RegentCid @ Jan 21 2016, 03:30 PM) Normal. Same as others nothing special. Thanks RC Nothing Impress me. But Shin-Hotaka Ropeway abit Impress. Well Done. If you got going to Gokayama , Ainokura , Suganuma. Then Will be Big Bonus Up. Big Reward as unusual plan as others. Overall I give u score 78/100. I thought I did not have enough time But end-up with extra 2 free days So just jalan2 around Takayama and Kyoto only Is ok la, next round planning to hiking from shin-hotaka to kamikochi I plan and still dreaming to do so hahaha |

QUOTE(Azuma-kun @ Feb 16 2016, 10:51 AM) I also might going solo, but in July. I'll be going for maybe 10D9N or 11D10N but I dont have plans for day 7 onward yet. Maybe this would enuff happily use ur 10D9N -> https://www.jreast.co.jp/e/tokyowidepass/Is Tokyo to Osaka be really worthy? I was thinking to just stay in Tokyo and next trip will be Kansai region only. |
