I have a plan for Tokyo trip in July. Since I will only be in metro Tokyo, JR Pass is not necessary I guess. I just can get PASMO card or something, correct?

But then, I have plan for Osaka trip after that. Can PASMO card be used in Kansai region? I'm a bit confused with how the different cards work based on region. I know PASMO and SUICA can be used in Tokyo, widely. Then I saw someone mentioned about another card. ICOCA I think.

**Osaka trip is for next year plan.

Yep, in tokyo u can either use PASMO or SUICA. while its ICOCA in Osaka.

Even though i was just in Tokyo last time, but some times i still transport in JR East. Its called Yamanote Line bcoz sometimes the destination i want to go is nearer if i use that line..And u don need to buy JR pass for that, bcoz u can use PASMO & SUICA on JR too.
*
That's what I thought too. I'm still studying the train lines. But that is what I can conclude for now.

All Company CEO has sitting down having discussion.
Now,
Suica , Pasmo , Icoca , Kitaca , Manaca , Toica , Pitapa , はやかけん , nimoca , SUGOCA
Can be used Nationwide Japan.
Any City in Japan.

That is a very good news then. Thanks a lot.
Has it been implemented. Even Hokkaido?

LOL why u need all the cards. Collector items? laugh.gif

Ahh...ok ok. I forgot that u travel to Japan a lot. Or u are staying there. Cant recall. I'm so relieved that now can use PASMO or SUICA in all region. Need more research to get latest the news.

I will keep my Osaka plan aside first since it's still a long way to go. Any personal advise for first timer? Other than get ready with train lines, places, foods. Maybe something to do with the culture, habits, attitude.

Since my friend seems like FFK after suggested going to Japan together, I was thinking of doing it solo. Let's say my travel period is 8-15 October. I'll have 6 full travelling day. While researching, I stumbled upon My.Koya and it caught my interest. I was thinking flying into Tokyo, spend 4 days at there. Then take overnight bus to Osaka. Maybe 1 night at My.Koya and another day at nearby place then fly out from Kansai.

Rush? Achievable? Crazy? Haven't buy the flight tickets yet by the way. Or should I fly to Kansai - Tokyo? Or to spend all week in one either Osaka and surrounding area or only Tokyo???
*
I also might going solo, but in July. I'll be going for maybe 10D9N or 11D10N but I dont have plans for day 7 onward yet.

Is Tokyo to Osaka be really worthy? I was thinking to just stay in Tokyo and next trip will be Kansai region only.

I won't recommend you to travel two places on one trip. Not worth the price of transportation + your time + the tiredness.

Just stay in one place per trip. It more than sufficient for you. BTW, if you are going to Tokyo, don't forget to try the one star Michelin ramen
*
That's what I thought too. It will be damn tiring plus I will lost time during the travel unless midnight bus or train.

1-Star Michelin ramen? I read about that but too bad, pork laugh.gif

Lame of No diffrent from others. Must go something unique such as deer meat. Nvm, you guys wont go Hokkaido so much until my level yet...... hehehe.

My recomemdations one high chances can change your mind over Hokkaido soup curry.

Yes first time. Kansai will be the next one. I want to see Tokyo myself first before somewhere else. In fact, that will be my first time flying overseas

I was skipping Ikebukuro in my itinerary because there is nothing that catch my eyes (based on japan-guide). Then I go back to the first post and see if I missed anything. Damn..I might miss out the KitKat boutique.

Does that mean japan-guide is not updated?

That so called boutilque is just a small section at the seiyun or something dept store. There will be a small history section & those specilized kitkats that u can actually get elsewhere too at much cheaper price.

Goto those pharmacies or even opposite side of the dept store  u will see 2 gigantic pharmacies as below photo. Shop there & u might able to get 190 to 200yen kit kat. Shop on the left cheaper..

[attachmentid=6008740]

BTW, those pharmacies are available everywhere in Japan and the above two are the most common & probably largest of all

This boutique was for season limited edition kitkat or Premium fav kit kat. If buy those common fav at this boutique really cut throat price.
If want hunt normal kitkat such as green tea, strawberry , etc common stuff then canfind at Pharmacy or Tokyo Station.
*
Thanks! So if I want to find the special flavor or something, I can get it from here. If regular, just buy anywhere or the pharmacy.

Quick question, when I do the train routing in hyperdia site, it will say Transfer 1 but the the fare is just one time.
For example, from Roppongi to Asakusa.
ROPPONGI > HIGASHI-GINZA (transfer here) > ASAKUSA(TOBU/SUBWAY) and the fare is ¥280
Does it mean I can directly transfer line from Hibiya Line to Asakusa Line without going out from the gate?

Is RM2000 enough for 10 days in Tokyo, Osaka and Kyoto? This is just for Suica/Passmo card, food, minor shopping. If no shopping, RM1500 okay?

JR Pass is another expenditure which is not included in the RM2000.

QUOTE(RegentCid @ Feb 25 2016, 11:54 AM)
Problem been found solution. Toyoko Inn topic should put into ends. No futher discussion been needed.
Rm2000 per person? That alot. Can have few luxury meal.
*
So you are saying RM2000 worth of cash is a lot for transportation and f&b for that 10 days?? When Im doing my itinerary (still revising it), I am so afraid that RM2000 will not be enough. I dont have any credit cards as i dont really use it so to ready a decent amount of cash is really important. If u say so, i feel so relieved.

Of coz, not included hotel.

Any one knows the regular g-shock price there. I heard it's cheap there compare to here but how cheap?

pls guide me
but first of all, whats the cheapest way to fly there

and

cheapest way for accomodation

many thanks

Seriously bro?

I've been reading since v4, then only ask questions sweat.gif
I dont mind being shoot but at least, i almost done with my itinerary and i just need some comments and info. Japan is one of the famous location for Malaysian, so it's very easy to find out blog or review from locals. One of the reasons why i have my itinerary done, even before i found this thread.

Anyway, I am thinking of delaying my trip to Oct instead. Not July. Something came up and it cost me lot of money doh.gif
Need to review my itinerary again, to suit the weather and time there.

From what I understand, JR Pass only worthy if travelling cross region. If staying in one place, pretty useless. The card such as suica pasmo icoca is better. Plus if u bring the card home, u can give to ur friend who will be travelling. So they dont have to buy new card since it isnt registered. Maybe can ask to pay u the 500 yen + balance laugh.gif

Oh I have question about postcard/post office. How much does it cost me to send a postcard to Malaysia? Is it cheap enough? Do the post offices easily located? I am thinking of sending home few postcards, whenever I reach that places. You know, the stamp is what matters laugh.gif

My plan so far

Day 0 - Arrived, Overnight in airport
Day 1 - Sumida / Asakusa / Asakusabashi (hotel is at this area)
Day 2 - Akihabara / Tokyo central/Nihonbashi / Ginza
Day 3 - Tokyo Tower area / Tsukiji area / Odaiba
Day 4 - Mibu/Tochigi / Ueno / Tokyo Dome area
Day 5 - Checkout from Asakusabashi / Kawaguchiko
Day 6 - Checkout from Kawaguchiko / Shinjuku

Day 7-10 need to be adjusted depending on the hotel. Haven't decided yet which hotel to go. So can consider not finalized yet.
Day 7 - Harajuku / Shibuya / Roppongi
Day 8 - Nakano / Ikebukuro
Day 9 - Disneyland area (might scrap this plan)
Day 10 (last) - Free day. Dont know where to go. Might repeat to Akihabara. Flight at 11.45PM

Any comment or feedback?

no la... of coz  devil.gif
u never said anything bout it  whistling.gif

---

i think Sumida best to go during sakura season,
go on normal day wasted, coz it is jus a average park...
better off goto yoyogi park on sunday morning ~ more event

tokyo tower if possible go 2 times,
1) (daytime) on weekend u can climb using staircase,
upon u reach... there is one pretty lady waiting for u  brows.gif
and present a certificate card upon completion innocent.gif
2) (nitetime) take nite view photo from outside, park/carpark/main road icon_idea.gif
*make sure u hv good camera and tripod
*
There are few spots we want to go in Sumida, not necessary to be a park. I just list down the area. Yoyogi park during Shibuya time. But can go again on Day 9 since it's on Sunday, Plus we might scrap the Disneyland trip, I really feel like nothing to see there.
