Is it better to visit Nara (daytrip) from Kyoto or from Osaka? Which is more convenient?
Also, any recommendation on where to visit nearby Tokyo? (other than Nikko) |

the JR rail pass right, do they give any extra benefits other than the travel from city to city??
for example, can they be used within cities like Osaka or Kyoto? Do they give discount when you buy entrance tickets to certain sights? |

QUOTE(look416 @ Mar 21 2016, 04:17 PM) If you are going to Kyoto, you can just skip the JR rail pass. What is really good for you will be the Kansai Thru pass. JR pass will be very good if you are travelling further than that, such as Kanazawa those places Τhanks. I'll be flying to Tokyo and from there, I think I'll be using the JR rail pass. I only got 7 days max down south, then need to return to Tokyo. I also plan to buy a Tokyo Wide pass for 3 days to visit around Tokyo. How would you balance 7 days for Kyoto and Kansai region? Are the Himeji and Miyajima worth going? |

QUOTE(look416 @ Mar 22 2016, 05:12 AM) for me since this time is my first time to Kyoto I'm planning on nearby area or so called popular area. I think the best (and cheap) strategy is to divide Japan into north and south. So, if you go to Kyoto and Kansai region, can get the JR Kansai pass which is way cheaper than JR pass. Then next time, visit Tokyo and buy the JR East pass.first day fushimi->Nara->uji second day arashiyama->ryoanji->kinkakuji third day amanohashidate foruth day Kyoto city Center I was stupid. Didn't think about this. I bought my flights to Tokyo and now I've to move in circles. Tokyo-Kyoto then go back Tokyo again. ----------------------------------------- that Suica/Pasmo card, when return it to get back your deposit of ¥500, do we pay some admin fee? QUOTE(tohff7 @ Mar 22 2016, 09:23 AM) How many days are you staying in Japan? To be honest, moving from Tokyo-Kyoto-Tokyo is not really worth the time and money. Maybe should consider just stay in Tokyo. 2 weeks. So I think I'll spend 1 week near Tokyo. Any recommendation for excursion outside Tokyo??Admin fee for Suica/Pasmo is 210yen. But can consider just keep if you decide to visit Japan again next time. It can last 10 years from last transaction. |

QUOTE(tohff7 @ Mar 22 2016, 10:00 AM) Not an expert but you can try to look at this http://www.japan-guide.com/e/e3051.html thanks!! Will have a look. Typical places that ppl visit outside Tokyo is Hakano, Fuji Lake, Nikko, Kamakura, Kusatsu etc. QUOTE(JooSeng @ Mar 22 2016, 10:12 AM) Thanks!! I plan to buy this pass once I reach there. but have to read a lot on what's included and what's not included. Different pass is valid on different trains. |

QUOTE(RegentCid @ Mar 23 2016, 12:21 AM) Please study more on exchange order before post something stupid here. I don't mean to be demeaning; what I meant was things could be digitalised. How to sent it by E-Mail? The Exchange Order got the official cop on it. Like buying air tickets. They don't send you a copy of your air tickets, do they? |
