Hello guys.

I'm planning to go to Tokyo, and I would like to receive some help about the cherry blossom prediction.

I would like to know about the cherry blossom prediction by the Japan Weather Association. (25th of March for Tokyo this year as for first bloom)

1) I would like to know how accurate in the past few years the prediction for the first bloom? i know the result can be affected by multiple factors, but if the prediction is inaccurate, would it usually be earlier than estimated or later than the estimated date?

2) Any advice to significantly increase my chance to see full bloom of cherry blossom in Tokyo regardless of the accuracy of the prediction? I'm planning to go only for a week maximum, so I hope that I'll be able to see it when I'm there.

Many many thanks guys smile.gif smile.gif

Owner msg me informing and ask me cancel zzz
*
something fishy as why didnt he cancel but ask you to cancel instead? You wont get full refund if you cancel and he will be penalized if he cancels.

So far no news yet...anyone get affected like me?

You can read the reddit link posted above. A few others are affected too. Looking at your kyoto airbnb's review, I suspect it is because a neighbor complained about it. Have you tried contacting your osaka and tokyo host asking about the status of your reservation?

From what I have read, home rental is exempted from hotel business law so they don't require license. With the latest announcement, no clear guideline is out yet except by Ota, so am wondering whether these hosts are jumping the gun?

Without hotel license, you are limited to minimum 1 month rental, or 6 nights if your property is in Ota-ku.

Since most Airbnb customers are renting for 1-5 nights, it means that most of the lodgings are illegal.
*
illegal if they are located in Ota. At other places with no clear regulation, cannot consider illegal. It is best for them to at least issue a clear cut date.

This is not the place for discuss hotel booking or Airbnd.

I already report to Mod. All topic will moved to Airbnd Section.
Please Continue from there.
https://forum.lowyat.net/topic/3268551

Entired Page 61 will shifted to Airbnb Thread.
*
I beg to differ. We are not discussing on how to book hotels or airbnb. We are discussing on an issue which is affecting travelers to Japan and some levy should be there. If this is not allowed, then all posts related to restaurants or food to be moved here: https://forum.lowyat.net/Food&Flavours. Same logic.

Too much. Entire Page 61.
It may not be removed as guide telling people Airbnb are not accept in Japan anymore. But futher discussion should not continue. This airbnb issue already discuss 1 month ago. It have enough info telling people stop using airbnb at Japan.

If I not stop it , it will goes 62 63 64 and more... Today M4A1 come , tomorrow another come , it will keep coming same reason. Then lost control like old currency disaster. Everyday full of people come asking same again.

Removed or stay depend on Mod hands now.
*
General post on accommodation, for example, asking or suggesting how to book is of course not relevant to the thread. However, the airbnb issue is different as it might affect the overall travelling experience. To draw a parallel, it is similar when we talked about onsen, ryokan and such. The previous posts on currency are also different because they were asking what is the current rate, selling/buying activity which is not relevant here.

I do hope you can differentiate this. Asking for us to stop the discussion when they are getting exhaustive is fine. To get them removed and moved is not. This will be my last rebuttal post. Moving on.

I bought a disneysea ticket online and printed out the 1-day passport on an A4 paper.
I wonder do I still have to go to the Welcome Centre to claim for the so-called "Package Kit"? or I can go straight to the disneysea gate?

as I just received an email from disneysea - "On the day of your arrival, please bring this email or Final Document, together with the passport of the representative person, to the Tokyo Disney Resort Welcome Center. You will also be given your Package Kit, which contains everything you need for your stay, such as your Park tickets."

I'm confused as I thought I can go straight to the gate with the ticket which I have printed when i purchase the ticket online
*
Are you staying at any of the disney hotel? You can use the printout as ticket

4. Plan to go for sakura viewing on the 9th which is 27th March (think a bit early for sakura full blossom). Will I able to see any sakura or is there other place that perhaps will bloom earlier or better viewing?
5. For 8th and 9th day, should I get the Kyoto City Bus Pass or I can only depend on my ICOCA card?
*
Do report on sakura at Osaka Castle, Himeji Castle, and Kyoto area (day 8 and 9). If going by the latest forecast, Kyoto will start flowering on the 25th and the date has been getting earlier and earlier. So even though not full bloom, surely there will be a couple of trees.

You can use icoca on the bus, however, the bus pass is more worth it if you are using the bus for more than 2 trips.
