When you make a payment, Airbnb will hold on to the money before it gets paid to the host. In your case, the host didn't accept your reservation and within 24 hours the booking will expire and the money will be refunded back to you. We won't charge the service fee if the booking is not completed

You should check with your bank whether the refund has been transferred back to you.
We understand that it's still a complicated process but we're in the process of improving that part of the experience. My advice to you would be to only make a payment when you have 100% confirmation from the host that the place is available. Alternatively, only make a payment when the host sends you a pre-approval to complete the booking.
