hi guys, just got my persona H-Line 2012 white colour from used car dealer this afternoon. So far the ride is good and comfortable. Seems like my car kena the infamous IAFM tak tak sound problem

I wanna know if I dont replace it, long term will have major problem or not? Any owner that experience IAFM module problem but never replace it? pls share share
*
last time i had a chat with Proton mechanic in Glenmarie, they say the tak tak tak sound may came from 2 sources.

The IAFM and purge valve canister.

For me ,i will just replace the purge valve canister first.if your FC seem worrying from time to time.Change this.Much more cheaper and easy to replace.

CODE
A canister purge valve is a solenoid valve controlled by the Power Train Control Module. The Power Train Control Module is a control unit that determines the ignition timing, fuel amounts and other parameters needed to keep the engine running.

Function
The canister purge valve serves as part of the emission control system in a car, and it measures the flow and amount of fuel vapor that is recycled into the combustion process via the charcoal canister, or fuel vapor storage device. Canister purge valves are also used in "leak tests," by allowing a vacuum to be created throughout the fuel storage system when the valve is closed, thus preventing outside air from entering the system.

Performance
Factors that can affect the performance of a canister purge valve include unclean valve conditions and valve blockage. Valve blockage is caused when an obstruction becomes lodged in the opening of the valve, causing a backup of the fuel and air mixture.

Octane booster is in gas tank, oil treatment is for engine oil , i brought oil treatment free Octane booster, so i will try the next refuel , but i guest it would not has much different like i pump in ron97 for campro
*
before using such product; better make sure the engine is in good condition.

for aged persona;i recommend to

-clean your engine from any grease first
-change your valve cover gasket to new one
-change your fuel filter
-clean and reset your throttle body
-change to K&N air filter
-use 5W-30 engine oil
-use new spark plugs
-use Caltex Techron injector cleaner.
-check or replace your purge valve canister.

hopefully your Persona will be much better.from my observation;u can get 300-350KM per 35 liter of fuel for 100% city driving if u keep your engine in tip top condition.

nothing we can do about the sluggishness below 2-3K RPM.but u can try to minimal the effect by

-remove your catalytic converter
-use 4-2-1 extractor
-use lightened crank pulley with same size as OEM.

Wanna ask how much does Auto Transmission Fluid change usually cost? tq
*
full flush ? need almost 6 litre.

if Mitsubishi Diaqueen SP 3 need to buy 2 tin of 4 litre so around RM 160.RM80 each.

if buy 1 litre pack Proton ATF-SP111 or Petronas ATF-XP3 around RM 30 per bottle.labor should be around RM30.

RM120+RM30 =RM 150... should be around that figure.

And please don't use Dexron type. laugh.gif

*

Proton Persona SV 1.6 2015 / 2016

Hi everyone, I am looking to buy my first new car and my budget is just RM55K. I am looking for a low maintenance car to travel to work, something that I can afford to pay monthly also. I have been browsing for cars and currently Proton Persona SV 1.6 seems most reasonable for my budget, plus I am looking for a sedan.

My worries, is Persona SV 1.6 a reliable car? Sometimes I see a very good review and sometimes I see a bad review and also very bad reviews about Persona in general. Some shared about their problems with Person within only a few months of purchase, there is also a complain on fuel consumption.

I do not want to get the Persona SV 1.6 and suffer financially. Then it would truly be pointless leaving me to feel cheated.
Please advise and if you have any other cars to recommend within the budget of RM55k please do so. Thank you very much for your time. smile.gif

try to find 2nd hand Persona SE instead of buying new one.

Persona is one of the easiest car to maintain .

I never brought the car to Proton service centre therefore i already void the right to claim any warranty but i can save much money from after sales.

Nvm,the car doesn't have any serious problem and i only replace wear and tear parts.

I did my own regular routine check.

Normally for normal service for each 10K KM;

replace with Eneos 5W-30 semi sync engine oil and oil filter

replace normal air filter with K&N.washable and better than stock.

U just need to know when to replace the brake pads/fuel filter/coolant/brake oil/ATF/spark plugs/air cond gas/cabin filter/steering fluid/timing belt/absorbers/tyres/battery/valve gasket cover.

if i feel the car sluggish than usual;maybe it is time to clean the air filter/TB.

try to keep the engine bay as clean as possible rolleyes.gif

be proactive and u will save a lot of money whistling.gif

7 years and on going.
