A forummer bought a 16 inch rims from me and has find difficulty in sourcing the 20/20 holed hubs for the rims. It's not available in Malaysia actually but it can be bought online from Taobao, China. I have no idea with regards to the said forummer's front fork width as there are 2 different widths. One as used by Dahons and Terns are 74mm and the other the usual 100mm (usually those with disc brakes). The 74mm offers more rigidity and stronger as the spokes are not too angled from the rims. That's why Dahons and Terns choose that width, probably.

There's another option , though. You can get the front hubs (20 holes) from here if you are using 74mm.

np la sifu et
and if you are using 100mm forks, you can get the adapters here.

http://bicyclebuysell.com/item/333141/lite...pter-dahon-tern

As for the rear, you can go for either a 24 hole or a 32 hole ones and skip a few holes while lacing. The distance is so small, I don't think it will affect the truing of the rims and more so because the rims are only 16 inch diameter. So, use with confidence. The only drawback is.................most LBS are not interested to do it as there might be a few spokes modifications. You might need to adjust the length of the spokes.

I would suggest though that you take this set. It is the 24 for the rear and the 20 for the front. This eliminates a lot of problems.
http://bicyclebuysell.com/item/204486/nova...24-free-pos-w-m

And if you want to use the regular , more easier and off course cheaper as it is common 32 holes for the front and rear, I have drawn the spokes lacing patterns. The red dots on the smaller circle are the SKIPPED holes. Both the 24 and 32 holes are fine if you look at the lacing of the spokes. Shouldn't be a problem. Good luck !  thumbup.gif

This is the 24 holes lacing.

and.............this is the 32 holes lacing.

If you have contacted me earlier, I could have done it for you but I am now in Taiping, so it's a bit hard. If you want to mod the spokes yourself like I do, get this ; The size of the spoke nipples are a bit special though. Most nut and bolts store stocks only 2,3,4,5,6mm etc but not 2.5mm which is the size for the spokes. I got it from Central Nuts and Bolts in Jalan San Peng, K.Lumpur. You get longer spokes, for mountain bikes, these are the easiest to get anyway and then measure and cut to length needed and tread it.

To be fair, RM850 is already a good price, for the seller ( if it is a Vybe C7a)  ...that is. If he refuse, then he can keep the bike. Regardless whether some seller says,  ............." won from a lucky draw",,,,,,,,,,,," rode twice only".............."bought the wrong size" etc.etc, the price is still a used one. If the Vybe is won from a lucky draw , most probably it is a Vybe C7s. It's the heavier ones and used to be sold for less than 1K formerly. The C7a is an extra RM200 to RM300 more.

Let's put it this way, why buy from another person if I can spare a little more for a new one and with the guarantee from a shop. If it much less, then it worthy right.

Thanks.

any litepro stem@handle extender user here?
me are one of them. after a while i decided to upgrade for syntace vro stem. this stem are originally for tern x10, x18, x20 and few other elite model.

user posted image

anyway,
the price are not that expensive. for the price rm152 at rodalink, the stem a bit heavier than the litepro (rm80) but feels very solid for what i can say.

will test this setup tomorow. my predict it would be very stiff since its a good brand. to encounter the weight i change my handlebar to carbon material..hihihi
*

sifu azam, i am using the litepro extender n the seatpost,so is the handlebar on my foldie, swhich i bought from taobao...so far so good...i do understand tat there r alot imitation ones from the website,so gotta be careful when buying...

hi Paul, just wonder if theres vast diff riding a brompton compare to other foldies, besides the folding size? always admire the look of a brompton, but whether it justify the price tag....tq

Is it justify to buy a Brompton? Well, it's gear takes a lot of training to get it right. A sturney archer internal hub is yesteryear gear hub. You want to downshift to smaller gear, you need to stop pedal before you can engage in.
The gearing are wide in between, just imagine you have a 16 sp gears but it space out in 6 gears. That means every gear change it abruptly change 3 gears.
If you want to buy a Brompton for performance, pls don't. You only buy a Brompton for it's heritage and its fold size. And of course it's classics good look 😄😄

tq paul, enjoy ur ride

My Birdy has arrived and I spent the afternoon cleaning it. Everything was very greasy and dirty! Now looks 100% better.
First impression wasn't good. This bike will be frustrating to fold. Has to be in the right gear or the chain may drop off. This is a dual drive model and the click box is in the way when the front wheel is folded in, then the handlebar will not drop down enough, so the whole this is a mess! I'll have to investigate what I can do to improve the fold.
Had a short ride and the bike feels supple but the front end feels a bit weird esp at low speed. It is not like a normal bike as the steering is not linear.
I need to replace the back tyre, so maybe I will see if going 20" wheel is a better option. I can convert it into a 9 or 10 speed. Without the Dual drive click box, the fold may be better.
Might go for a longer ride before deciding. Anyone here with a Birdy?

enjoy ur ride

Brand new Tern Verge N8 for RM3250 and Dahon Boardwalk for RM1840 considered cheap and the specs worth the money? Sorry I really dunno much bout bike and all so need pointers from sifu here. Can these 2 models do touring as well? Tempted with either brompton or Tern Verge S27H but the prices totally overkill my budget.

if u ever come to melaka, u can get the tern cheaper here...

The Tern Verge X20 is sold at a ridiculous RM11,600 and the Tern Verge X10 is RM7,300  rclxub.gif The lowest rung for Tern Verge is the N8 selling at RM3,200, same frame.

Let's say,  Buy the Tern Verge N8, take off the wheelset, put in a Lite Pro rims (make sure it can take 11 speed) on it for another RM1,500, take off all groupset, get the Shimano 105/11 speed for RM1800 or the Shimano Ultegra for RM2,600.  So now your purchase is RM3,200 + RM1,500 + RM2,600  = RM7,300.

Factor in Kimbell Jaya's labour cost to install , another RM200 and FD adapter, another RM100, Aiyah!  icon_idea.gif Let's say RM8,000  for a Tern Verge X22.  So, you sell off the Ultegra STI shifters for RM700 and the rims and grouspset for another RM500, and the whole setup cost RM6,800 , give and take RM300. If you use the Shimano 105 which is already very good, it is around 6K only. In fact, you can change the handlebar, handlebar post, and everything to Lite Pro components and it is still around the price. Don't change the cranks lah, good to have a whole groupset.

The drawback is, you don't get the Tern Verge's top end exciting color and sadly this is the biggest motivation for many to buy. Prestige  but not performance.  biggrin.gif

sifu etigge, do the verge n8 n p9 hv the same frame as verge x20?

just to add on a few point from what etigge saying,

1. handlepost
the verge x10/20 used tbar physis 3d handlepost height around 35cm while the P siries use qr handlepost height 39cm. u can bought the handlepost around rm450

2. syntace vro stem
the verge x10/20 used this stem, while P siries use non.u can buy this stem around rm180

3. syntace lighten seatpost and handlebar, kore saddle, ergon grip and others
well, this one u can customize urself. still have option worth like litepro or gub component that will not burn ur pocket

other than that, if u are crazy enough to build the color like x siries (repaint) the total cost will not over than buying x20 itself.

i calculated myself when converting my p9 wannabe x20. still cheaper and better component!

i heard before the x20 got cheaper as rm8.5k (my friend buy before), but that one in a million opportunity!
*

thanks sifu azam n sifu etigge for the info...might as well just buy the n8 n do the modification....tats wat i did to my java tt, using tiagra groupset, except the crank which i use litepro 53/39..now bcome java x20...haha...i even took out the disc brake n fix with c brake...anyway love the verge frame...

And even cheaper option  rclxms.gif  The Crius frame which is the Dahon Vector which is also similar to the Tern Verge.  Slap everything Lite pro on it with Tiagra 2017 groupset.  thumbup.gif
