I heard about this story once. Don't know if its true or if it works, but you could give it a try. A friend of a friend of a friend had the same problem with static shock. She got so fed up about it she came up with an ingenious but simple solution. She connected two metal paper clips with a length of wire. One paper clip she put in her sock and touches her skin. The other she taped to the bottom of her shoe.
