Consumer products are tested against normal human static charges of up to 15kV through conductive material of the product. Usually, human static can be only up to 8kV. So, it should be safe when handling the camera even under low humid conditions.

However, you can always "ground" yourself before using your camera.

Static is caused by low humidity. Sometimes, static build up is dependent on individuals. Those who are more prone to static will still have a lot even without any clothing.
