if you dont like the colors you can choose the all black one

i like the green black combo for a less intimidating approach

rm140 for gerber dime?
its a good thing i got my leatherman ps4 for around that price before...much better tool tongue.gif

rm100 also i wouldnt pay for a gerber.
if that dime was rm60+, then can really consider just as something to leave lying around.

even reading edc forums, so many dimes broken...
but anyway, ps4 is more 'pocketable' on keychain cos the dime is bigger, and that bottle opener position on the dime is really wtf.
i'm sure the dime can still get a job done...but really cannot compare with the leathermans of the same size.
plus i think those dimes at rm140 are old stock that never sold since release and now clearing...else will be more expensive than it is now.
last time my ps4 also rm140...dime is cheaper than ps4...now ps4 i think rm180 already? zzz.

rm60+ got, true utility brand...good or not...most likely not.

i think in the multi tool department few can dethrone leatherman

besides like armata said for RM100 nowadays you can't get as much as the dime from a reputable company

if style cs is around that price for sure I'll get those

at least i got one good looking tools lol

if want to go AA, my preference is the LD11.

Thanks for recommending the LD line, else I never would've noticed. I ended up picking up a LD09 2015 edition for the momentary on function. I was so happy to see the shop selling the 2015 edition, which was my first choice rclxm9.gif

the retail package opener is also sharp and i'd never seen anything like it on any other multitool

the scissors however was not as sharp as i like

*
I disagree. I find the package opener on the Dime is rather blunt compared to the one on Victorinox MiniChamp. Just for fun I used the MiniChamp package opener to free the Dime from it's package, the plastic was thick but the MiniChamp did well.

user posted image

I tried to do the same using the Dime's package opener tool, no luck lol. It wasn't able to puncture the plastic. However, the shape itself is nice to cut the tape on boxes for example. As for sharpness, Victorinox left Gerber in the dust. I have to be very careful when extracting the tool so I wouldn't accidentally cut myself.

The scissors on the Dime are sharp but their shape is so weird it had to be held at a certain angle in order to cut. It can still do the job like cutting thread, but forget about any precision work with them. IMO Gerber shouldn't bother with the scissors patent because it's not that good to begin with lol. Victorinox scissors on the other hand are very sharp and precise.

I bought mine from TouchDIY. Looks like it's still in stock.

I think it's because people overestimate the micro tools, used them beyond their means and end up breaking them. When I was researching between Squirt and Dime I've seen equal mentions of both tools being broken. Just have to accept that they, especially the pliers are not meant to be used like full size pliers, else there's a high risk of them breaking down. For that reason I don't plan to lend my Dime to anyone in case they accidentally break it. As for myself, I wouldn't be too rough on it.

At first I disliked the bottle opener being non collapsible too, but now I love it! Since the Dime is a stiff tool, I use the opener as added leverage to flip the dime open. I've also tested the bottle opener, it opens so easily compared to Leatherman or Victorinox because of its larger surface area. I love it! I wish bottled drinks are more common in Malaysia so I could use it more often drool.gif

your review proved what i read on another forum somewhere about gerber and leatherman

some said gerber > leatherman some said otherwise

same with my gdc moneyclip i read a review saying that the knife was razor sharp while mine not so much

maybe it got to do with their qc perhaps

i cant really say much about the package opener because i cant test it while the dime was inside the package lol

but i did saw a video on youtube showing the package opener used to cut a plastic package no problem

i'll test it out extensively someday

what you said about your dime's scissors and knife are also different from mine

my scissors was not as sharp but my knife was sharp as hell i accidentally and effortlessly cut the skin on my thumb this morning

i can compare with victorinox since i got both and i can safely say that my dime's blade was as sharp or maybe sharper than victorinox

I used the package opener on the Dime to open the packaging of a toothbrush and it worked. However the plastic for the toothbrush is much more flimsier than the one packaging the Dime. If I have to choose, I'd choose the tool on the MiniChamp everytime simply because I can rest assured it will work. The head is also pointed to help with puncturing and starting the cut. The tool on the Dime has a flat head :/

The knife on my Dime is sharp, but not as sharp as Victorinox. Due to the overall construction and quality of the Dime, I view it as something to abuse instead of something to be loved and well taken cared of like my Victorinoxes. Poor Dime! tongue.gif

I have the same spork...

I bought it cause one day during one of our misison we were given packages of rice with NO SPOON! And I dont feel like eating with my hands after half a day in the jungle...

So I went taobao and bougth around 40 of them (comes in silver/not painted and black) and gave them to all my team members.. I think it was less than RM10 each if I remember correct..

As for the no-buck... hey Ringgit is 4.09 vs the DOllar now... its time for Amazon shopping time... brows.gif
