QUOTE(cheeann @ Jan 12 2009, 11:50 PM)
nearest 195/50-16 is 205/45-16~
*
Yes, but the current trend as in more common size is 205/50R16 or 205/55R16 hence they are nowadays cheaper than 205/45R16, at least, that's how the trend is going nowadays for certain tyre makes.

QUOTE(amduser @ Jan 13 2009, 12:16 AM)
better stick back to 14" change all set to 15" will be over budget already, even with 2nd hand, dont think can get a light weight rim with cheap price.

PP2 also available in 175 and 185?
*
Yes, better to stick back to 14" and if you can, change all 4 at the same time, if your rear tyres are still pretty thick(which I would expect so since they hadn't been rotated before), you could probably still trade them in.

I believe the PP2 is only available in 185/60R14.

Since you are so good in it, then why don't you give the recommendations instead of keeping quiet until I come out with something doubtful and you come shooting at it? whistling.gif yawn.gif

Come on, since you are the tyre dealer here, why not you post something constructive like at least giving the poor guy a quotation or suggestion instead of giving unconstructive comments like this, which I'm starting to feel fed-up of you. I'm no tyre dealer and yet I still offer to give as much info as possible.

QUOTE(iman_210 @ Jan 13 2009, 09:53 AM)
but for my wife's ride persona tyre width of 205 would rub the inner fender...195 would be just fine...how much u guys reckon it cost 1?
*
iman, will try to get some prices for you, i'm pretty sure Hankook V8-RS has this size but ain't too sure about the price. If it's rubbing the inner fender, it might be case of too much positive offset, must be using back the same wheels without changing?

Decent price for them. Which model is that price for? SS595 or 595-RS?

Any ideas of their 15" pricing? wink.gif

grex...the offset is at 38...a fren's ride with 195 does not rub while the other fellow at 205 does rub...

appreciate if u guys can show the price...

Seems like the size of 195/50R16 have really limited choice indeed. Only have Continental CSC1 and Yokohama(no ideas what's the model), for the Continental, the price ranges around RM210-225(from quicksave in USJ7) This tyre size is shared by the new Jazz and also Swift Sport, probably can get pre-owned tyres from those that changed to bigger sizes for cheaper.

Seems like the best bang per buck is the 205/45R16 at RM210.

Where did you obtain the pricing from?

i guess better stick to persona ori tyres which are 195/55/15

Thought the Persona came with 195/60R15 as standard issue? But again, I might be wrong as the Persona I saw was with factory alloy wheels shod with Continental ComfortContact-1 in 195/60R15 sizing.

my bad...its running on conti 195/6015...how much these tyres would fetch if i trade in for  195/50/16?
*
Hm... This I can't really provide much info as I don't operate a tyre shop, might have to travel down to tyre shops to check yourself, but I guess if you tyres had not done more than 5,000km, it should still be worth quite a bit.

QUOTE(kampit_ikram @ Jan 15 2009, 10:14 AM)
what is recommended brand for 195 55 15 tyre sizes...? hope for durability... can pakai 2-3 years no prob...
*
It's a bit vague to say "last for 2-3 years" coz we have no ideas of your travelling mileage. But for something that last around 60,000-80,000km with proper inflation, you can give Falken ZE-912 a try, they cost about RM165-180 each for the size of 195/55R15.

QUOTE(Zhon @ Jan 15 2009, 01:06 PM)
Hey guys, I want to check my Proton Iswara tyres because I am not sure whether need to change or not. Seemed to me that they need changing. Anyway, do you guys by any chance know any good tyre shop which offer fair price and fair service and don't chop people's arms and legs or do daylight robbery? Thanks!

Preferably in Subang, USJ or Sunway.

Thanks in advance.
*
You can give QuickSave in USJ7 or Hup Shun in Sunway a try smile.gif

But as usual, it'll be best if you have a friend who's at least a little knowledgable in tyres to be present, coz being Malaysia, it's always typical that the business man chop people's arms and legs for those who don't seem to know anything about tyres(or whatsoever product) laugh.gif No offence to whoever's doing business sweat.gif

Steering tends to bias left is an alignment issue, should have test drove around the area and get them to fix it.

There's not much difference between 185/60R14 and 175/65R14 in terms of easiness to get dented, both are thick enough to provide cushioning if the tyre pressure is set correctly.

Well... If I had lived in PJ, I wouldn't mind dropping by to give advice, but unfortunately I don't, sorry I couldn't be there to help explain more.

And yeah... Hup Shun Sunway is usually littered with high-end cars laugh.gif Well.. the whole area is anyway laugh.gif

Hup Shun SS3 is more understated tongue.gif

There's a lot of settings to fine tune in alignment and I don't believe I can explain it simply, I myself is still on the learning curve laugh.gif

Hm... Kaitenaz, probably coz Naz used to drive a Vios and he's pretty famous in the Vios crowd tongue.gif

Well.. he did kept his words straight that no Blitz Supercharger kit made it into his car, coz he sold it for an Evo laugh.gif

What Merc are you driving? I think the Michelin XM-1 wouldn't be too suitable for a heavy car, more towards light passenger cars.

For Merc I would recommend the slightly higher end Michelin MVX8 instead smile.gif

Then you should really give the MXV8 a try instead, it's up a notch in terms of marketing concept from Michelin.

Although, of course, I couldn't really provide pricing for the Michelins, I'm sure Cheeann would be glad to help you out on that wink.gif

mind to elaborate "Preferably no NCT5 or equivalent range. Want higher up".Means NCT5 much lower end in term of performance quality/durabilty. Would like to learn more about this also
*
NCT5 durabilty yes, performance, not really for the price it's selling, which is which usually people would only use up the set that came stock with the car and then after that changed to others.

Izso, not really sure about pricing for 205/45R16, myself only notice the 14" and 15" sizes only. Nowadays it seems 205/45R16 is a less common size being replaced by 205/55R16 in newer cars.

Amongst the 3, I would rate it accordingly via the following

Dry Performance
Toyo T1-R > Michelin PP2 > Falken ZE-912

Wet Performance
Michelin PP2 > Toyo T1-R > Falken ZE-912

Comfort
Falken ZE-912 > Michelin PP2 > Toyo T1-R

Noise
Michelin PP2 > Falken ZE-912 > Toyo T1-R

Overally, I would say that the Michelin PP2 is one of the better all-rounder tyres. You may also give the Yokohama C.Drive a try as it's also a pretty decent all-rounder like the Michelin PP2.

Just that I forgot that the price issue laugh.gif Definitely 912 is the most bang per buck if you consider the price.

hei guys, what about Bridgestone tyres? performing better than 912 or lower? at least Bridgestone got sponcer F1 ferrrari maa.. smile.gif
If around the budget range, shud b Bridgestone MY-01, aprox RM180 ...

i feel i shud oso settle for 912, but worry of the wet road performance...so, b4 i decided for pp2 (safety), just wana check hows bridgestone tyres...

thanks..
*
If you are worried about the wet performance, and you are worried about the Falken 912's performance in the wet, you can totally just forget about the Bridgestone MY-01. It's not even a performance tyre, more like very cheap tyres made to look like sports tyres via the thread pattern. Do note that this comment is only reserved for the MY-01 and not other Bridgestone tyres.

Most Potenza starts from RM200 and above unfortunately.

In fact, the most bang per buck(everything also can do type, best all rounder. As in, decent wet performance, decent comfort levels, decent noise levels, and decent thread wear) is actually the Falken ZE-912 at the moment.

A range up if you don't mind trying Korean tyres would be the Hankook V12-Evo, which is around RM200-220(depending on where you get them) for the 195/55R15 size

You might also want to give Falken ZE-912 a try. I would consider them as "comfort tyres with a touch of performance"
