what is the model of the brigdestone tyre for honda city ? best location to fit it around kelana jaya area?

If you are familiar with SS3, there's a tyre shop near the community hall and basketball court area, name's Hup Soon, they offer pretty competitive pricing plus they are Bridgestone dealers. Let me know if you need pointers to getting there.

QUOTE(e-jump @ Dec 7 2008, 12:37 PM)
is an year old yoko parada spec2 at rm185 a bargain? (4807 to be exact) and its Philippines made
195/50/15
and is it ok to mix it w/ 195/55/r15? my fronts are 55profile.

*
A year old(I supposed it's a used set) Parada Spec-2 at RM185 each is VERY expensive, considering that new ones can be had for the same price or even lower.

It's ok to mix with different profiles but it's better to keep the thicker profile at the rear as a thicker profile in front might cause the front to be taller than the rear.

QUOTE(silverwave @ Dec 8 2008, 01:36 AM)
Guys i need some advise here on which brand of tyre to choose. I am looking for a tyre which is comfortable and has good grip. Michelin is my number one choice but the travelling is very low for the car so i don't want to put a very expensive tyre. Is goodyear F1 or eagle F1 good?

205/50/R16

Bridgestone MY-01
Bridgestone G111
Goodyear Eagle F1
Michellin Pilot Perceda 2
Hankook V8
*
A comfortable tyre with good grip would be the Michelin PP2, Goodyear Eagle F1 is decent as well(best wet grip IMO) but they seem to always have premature shoulder wear.

chinesepunk123, for RM200 for 16", probably the Falken ZE-912 fits your budget, well... it's the best value/performance rubber at the moment on the market from my point of view.

whis, AD07 should be around RM250-270 for 195/55R15, almost the same price got a few different options like the S-Drive, RE-001 also around that price if not mistaken.

Klang.. Maybe coz close to port, can spent less on transporting fees probably? No ideas. I find that when they offer you cheap tyres or high trade-ins, they'll most of the time charge u something else expensive to cover back. So what I usually do is just get tyres cash and carry there and install at my regular shop instead, prefer to trust my regular shop with my set of wheels which easily gets scratched.

If you don't have the correct tools, just send it to your tyre shop, tell them you want to do a rotation, normally they don't charge extra especially if you are doing balancing for all the wheels.

I am downgrading to smaller size, change to 195/55/15 RE001.  laugh.gif

My ride stock tyre is 195/60/15. People like to upsize the wheel, but i have made up my mind not to upgrade to 17"inchers rim and 215/45/17 at the moment..no budget.haha Furthermore, i usually replace tyre every year or 25k km..such as waste to throw away the tyre..215/45/17 re001 not cheap eh..i ask the shop over in penang, close to rm500 sweat.gif

Wait till collect new City with 185/55/16..first thing to do is to replace it with 205/50/16 RE001..

Yeah.. but remember to change the wheels as well as the stock wheels would be too skinny to fit them 205 smile.gif

It's in klang kapar road opposite giant corner shop. I have 3 expired tyres which are the yokohama and I had bought 1 dunlop tyres rm160 2 months ago which I did trade in this tyre after thought that yokohama tyre is having problem. but actually is my rim is uneven and the side made the tyre leak air. So wasted I go changed that tyre.

But he gave me the good price for these falken really appreciate it. Cause I told them other place can give me cheaper which is not true. They desperate for sales haha  icon_rolleyes.gif

Opposite giant corner shop? Got a name or something? Is it near the Carrefour? So I suppose RM650 is considered as "with trade in"? Sounds like a great price for a trip there biggrin.gif

wanna ask, is there any shops around PJ tht is trustable and honest and able to provide cheap price? i wanna find new 185/60/R14 tyres. i work at bukit jalil and everyday go thru bandar kinrara using LDP to technology park, the road there is so uneven and bumpy for my current tyres(at 30psi for all 4 tyres) somemore got poodles of water even when raining lightly.i wan more comfort, and dun wan feel floating on water  and i dun whack corners at high speed coz i scared i kill my car suspension. so any suggestions for tyres and wat price?
*
Well.. you can try Hup Soon in Sunway(look for Tee, the person in charge there, looks around 40-ish of age) or SS3(I usually go to the SS3 branch), they are both competitively priced.

I would suggest the Falken ZE-912 for that size of 185/60R14, they go for around RM135(Klang)-150(HupSoon) each. Best bang per buck tyre for the price in my opinion. IF you need directions, you could always drop me a PM. And no, i do not operate any of the shops I recommend.

Either Hankook V12 Evo(around RM200-210 each) or Falken ZE-912(RM165-180/each), couldn't really think of other models at the moment, probably can get Michelin PP2 for around RM200 also for the older stock(before price increase)

If fact the few choices u listed, only the Yokohama A-Drive can be considered.

For RM250/each, you can easily get the Falken ZE-912 which is a lot better than the ZE-326.

Sunway you can try Hup Shun, look for Tee and negotiate till you are happy with the price. Or you may try the shop Vannus mentioned in USJ14

usj14 petronas futher a bit, the shop corner below the flat. They are selling rm720 per set including balancing allignment.

Would u recommend Hup Shun or Tek Ming?
Which one cheaper ah
*
I would recommend any of the Hup Shun over Tek Ming, anytime, Tek Ming kinda operates like Klang's tyre shops(some of the shops, at least), there's always a lot of hidden charges, like the price they quote you maybe didn't include balancing or maybe even installation. So if you decide to shop there, do check and make 100% sure that the price you pay is the "all in" pricing.

As for Hup Shun, if you are taking sets of 4, you can negotiate for alignment also also nitrogen fill up for the tyres.

Best bang per buck tyre for 14"-15" is the Falken ZE-912(also known as ZIEX-912), roughly RM135-150 for 185/60R14 and RM165-186 for 195/55R15

taiwan rim plus 4 pieces of falken ziex 912 dimension 205/50/15

trade in they take rm500 for my local blm rims plus tyres 16inch

total rm1080 need to top up. good deal ?
*
So it makes RM1580 in total that you are actually paying. Manage to find out how much each tyre costs? So that you could at least find out how much you will be paying for the wheels. Coz for RM500 trade in value, you probably can sell your set of wheels yourself for more than that price although it might take some time.

how is that tyre? any comments? been searching through many tyre manufacturer website, only hv this few result

avid touring S
avid T4
falken Ziex ZE512
firestone FR380 (never see this before, found on bridgestone website)

my current tyre size only 175/65D14, i dont know can mix with 175/65R14 or not, i mean 175/65D14 in front and 715/65R14 at rear

my current tyre is stock tyre, bridgestone NCT5, i feel like the shoulder /outer part of the thread wear off faster than the center, and i want try some different tyres also

BTW, my car is VIOS 2nd gen
*
Think there's probably something wrong with the labelling of your tyres, Vios comes with 175/65R14, most would just upgrade to 185/60R14 or 185/65R14 for more choices of tyres. The tyres you've listed are not available locally except the Falken ZIEX ZE-512 and it's a very old model.

Current bang per buck is Falken ZIEX ZE-912 for 185/60R14 at a price ranging from RM135-150 each depending on where you shop for it in the Klang Valley.

You can always change to 185 in front first, no harm doing that.

But why only fronts are worn out? Rotation not done?

In fact, ZE-512 itself performs quite shitty. And I doubt it has the size of 175/65R14 locally. Malaysia's tyre business is a bit odd as in they only bring in "common" sizes and thus the other considered as uncommon sizes either not stocked, or costs more.

and mix 185 and 175 together? hmm.gif i though some ppl said the alignment and balancing will be mess up?

i heard toyo T1R is good, but it doesn't seems to available in 175/65R14 or 185, toyo tyre r start from 15" right?

is it really ok for me to put 185 on rear and 175 at front?

BTW, my vios rim is stock 14" from toyota, can 185 really fit inside?
*
Depends on the car, some cars are ok with running 2 different widths front and rear as some cars have smaller track on the front. And you are right that there's no 14" for Toyo T1-R.

How fresh are your rear tyres? You might consider talking to the shop and trading in your rear tyres so that you can have a full set of 185/60R14. Is it better than putting the fresh tyres in rear, if you had to, better to stick with wider tyres in the front than rear as the Vios is a front wheel drive car.

QUOTE(amduser @ Jan 12 2009, 04:30 PM)
how to see the width of my rim? i know wat will happen when the tyre close to it's limit, it will explode randomly then u will end up crashing somewhere else.

i dont think michelin XM1 is available for 14"

the falken 912 u r talking about is the falken ZE912? it doesn't available for 14" as well, i've checked on the website sad.gif

currently using NCT5, which is the tyre toyota install on this vios when we brought it, wanna try other brand instead of stick to 1 brand, and the front tyre shoulder seems to wear off faster than center part, maybe inflated pressure too low or wat.

seems like it is really hard to find good tyres for 175/65R14 cry.gif

y vios r not 15" in stock cry.gif
*
Which Vios is this? The second generation VIOS? Then those wheels are 5" wide, not entirely perfect for 185 width tyres but it's still within manufacturer recommended specs. 5.5" would be perfect for 186 width tyres.

Yes, the Falken 912 that I mentioned are the Falken ZIEX ZE-912, it's available in 185/60R14, this I'm VERY sure as it's checked in most tyre shops locally, not on overseas websites. If both sides of the shoulders wear off than the middle, then it's a case of underinflation, but if only one side of the shoulder, it might be alignment or camber(but if both side of the camber is near equal, don't bother adjusting it, consult the Toyota service centre regarding this issue as they seemed to have a pretty wide tolerance for camber) issue.

And yes, the XM-1 is available in both 175/65R14 or 185/60R14 or 185/65R14. In fact, it even has 155/65R13(but I ain't too sure about local availability on the 13" size)

QUOTE(amduser @ Jan 12 2009, 05:30 PM)
it not about change or not change, u know la, my parents not into modding car, if i recommend this and that then they will THIS AND THAT, and even if i trade in i dont think will selling for it for high price, that one is toyota stock rim, not like those light weight rim, and the tyres also not very good already doh.gif

vios club malaysia recommend me to go to KIN alignment, but i cant find their contact number and address, and i dont know there gt sell tyres and trade-in or not.

and it is impossible that trade in who set of rim + tyres for a 15" will cost me less than 1k right?? that's too "over budget" for some non-modder and some ppl who dont know about cars (talking about my family)

and next week gonna go back kampung celebrate new year, hope to get a new set of tyre before that.
*
I think it's better you just stick with the stock 14", changing to 15" WILL reduce the comfort level(which I don't think is a good idea considering this is your parent's daily drive). Either get the 185/60R14(closer to the original size of 175/65R14) or 185/65R14(slightly bigger diameter, but more comfortable due to the slightly increased sidewall height)

KIN alignment is in Sunway, back row same as LINKS performance, if it's easier, it's behind Redzone and Kakimotor row.

Advice would be to give other tyres a try, as the Goodyear NCT5 would probably cost quite a bit, but would be considered costly for the performance it gives.

Hi all, How much for the Goodyear NCT5 175/65/R14 for 4units. Plus balancing, chamber adjustment? My car is myvi.

Any advice & best price?
*
If you are willing to try other size and make, then give the Falken ZE-912 a try, they are selling for roughly RM150/each complete with installation and balancing, and 4 pieces will get free alignment.

QUOTE(amduser @ Jan 12 2009, 08:21 PM)
really? but i heard XM1 not good for cornering, but good for highway drive as it hv less rolling resistance.

i remember my father brought this vios just after a week it release, so it should be about 3 years, so 185 tyres will fit perfectly but still able to fit in to 5" la?

wat i need is performance, i dont need comfort
*
XM-1 is more biased towards comfort and fuel economy, hence. The Pilot Precedia 2 would be the more performance biased model for Michelin.

Yes, 185 width will still fit 5" wide wheels.

Problem with you changing to 15" also is that since like you mentioned, your parents basically don't give a damn about the car as long as it runs, running 15" will end up with thinner profiled tyres, and also a higher possibility to get the 15" wheels dented since I doubt your parents will be avoiding potholes and the like.

QUOTE(iman_210 @ Jan 12 2009, 08:36 PM)
any hint for best bang for the buck guys? looking to change to a neo rim on my persona...i think 195/50/16 is best as compared to 205/50/16 of which will rub the inner fender of my wife's ride
*
Not too sure about the 195/50R16, probably very limited choices which is why most people would just go for 205/50R16, if not mistaken, Hankook has the 195/50R16 sizing.

QUOTE(amduser @ Jan 12 2009, 10:10 PM)
185/60R14 can pair with 175/65R14 ar? sidewall height is different already
*
185/60R14 and 175/65R14 sidewall height difference is just 2.75mm(with the 175/65 being taller by 2.75mm), kinda negligible I reckon.
