Hi, I would like to ask those who have purchased or tried out this laptop in Malaysia. I know I can just go to a shop to see it but I'm just too swamped with work to go during opening hours.

1. What's the build quality like?

2. Is it an aluminum body or plastic?

3. Does it overheat easily?

4. What do you like and dislike about it?

I'm quite ok with the specs, but wondering what it's really like from your experience.

Thanks in advance.

*edit: I'd like to add that I'm getting such a heavy laptop because I also use it for designing.

1. What's the build quality like? (as I will also carry it around a lot for presentations)

2. Is it an aluminum body or plastic?

3. Does it overheat easily?

(The reason why I'm asking is because I'm currently using an Asus N56vz (i7 3630m GTX 650m) and it can overheat to a point that I get blue screen just by watching a blu ray remux via HDMI to TV (even with good ventilation).

4. What do you like and dislike about it?

I'm quite ok with the specs, but wondering what it's really like from your experience.

Thanks in advance.

If you can get the new Dell Inspiron 7559 better warranty service and thermal management

Or increase budget look up Illegear.

Oh ok, thanks for the link. If I'm reading correctly, it appears to be about an older model though. Unless it's pretty much the same thing aside from the hardware?

The Dell looks like a good option, and much cheaper too. Although I'm not sure if i5 is enough for graphic design? Sorry my knowledge quite limited in this area.

Really hard to give you answer. if you like it just buy it depend on yours.

1. build quality ok.

2. body As i know is plastic.

3. overheat - hard to say. 10 units sure got 5 units overheat.

4. if for me i will go to the real gaming laptop not this brand.

Specs depend, high spec more expensive. if you more hardcore gamer sure go high spec high CPU & GPU. rclxm9.gif

I suggest looking up Illegear with that option. It will net you SSD with HDD and good performance and good warranty services.

Best to get i7 because of hyper threading. Then if possible upgrade to the maximum allowed RAM.

Yes same model(Chassis) different hardware only.

Or you can look at Clevo Based SM-15?

Think Tech Armory carries it.

Yes, that has been suggested to me also. Shy to say that this is the first time I'm hearing about that brand. Will do a bit more research first then. Thanks

Thanks! Looks like I've been still waiting lol. I was told that it would be worth the wait for laptops with Kaby Lake and Pascal, since mine still has an i7 3630m... so I guess I'll be bugging you guys again once that's out rclxub.gif

if the performance will add 10% or more then its worth to wait, otherwise you can get DDR4 with cheaper price everywhere.

Despite some tease, seriously ts you really should wait.

The new ones pascal or amd will be at least twice the performance and it shouldn't be too long of a wait.

I'll use the waiting time to up my budget. Whenever it does come, i'll know i'm getting the very best i can afford.....

and then shove it to the teasers' faces.😈      XD

Yeah, I only buy laptops once every 4-5 years, so I don't mind a few more months for something that can last me a few years like my current N56vz.

On a side note, I went to have a look at the ASUS ROG GL552WL yesterday and I found the screen to be really crappy with drastic changes even from slightly different angles. Even my almost 4 year old N56vz has a way better screen than that. Hopefully the next gen ones will get better screens or I could try a different brand like Illegear.

Yes, I think overall it should la, all factors included, and the fact that it will be SLIGHTLY better in terms of battery life tongue.gif
