Just dropped by to share a good information ^^

The first big update to Windows 10, which should be arriving via Windows Update, fixes a lot of problems with Windows 10. I'm kind of regretting my upgrade at first too, because there's so many features that I don't need of as a student but less features that I need to customise or simplify things on my OS so that I won't mess things or take a long search just to find the settings. I think this update is good for those who still miss the features back in Windows 8 and Windows 7. So, I'll post this right away. Sharing as caring.. as they say ^^

Some of the new features in the update are:
✿ Colored title bars
✿ Track lost PC
✿ Context menus are better
✿ Cortana is better (I noticed that it run smoother too)

These are just a few of the bigger changes you’ll notice. Windows 10 Fall Update also features new icons, other visual tweaks, and under-the-hood improvements, including ones to memory management.

Read more here: http://www.howtogeek.com/232176/whats-new-...10-fall-update/

Unfortunately, users who have recently upgraded to Windows 10 – within the last 31 days – are currently unable to download and install the new update.
The Threshold 2 update is unavailable to new users so that they can roll back to their previous operating system, Microsoft has confirmed. I'm included in this late upgrader too.

Fortunately, I found a way to get it without having to wait more than 31 days to have the update installed.

Simply navigate to the Microsoft Windows 10 download page – and then hit the Upgrade button, even if you're already in Windows 10, it'll upgrade your OS to the latest build.
This downloads the Microsoft migration tool, which is preloaded with the latest version of Windows 10 and can upgrade your operating system for you.
Granted, it's a little arduous. But its the fastest way for users who have recently upgrade their operating system to get the latest Windows 10 performance tweaks and features.

Well, that's all for the update.
Please drop comments if you happen to know further info icon_rolleyes.gif

Since you update your Windows using the upgrade tools, I can guarantee the ESD in your Hard Disk is the image for the Windows 10 build 1511 aka the new update. You might want to rewrite the old build of Windows 10 in your CD with this new one. But if you got the new update using Windows Update, the ESD files is old one. icon_rolleyes.gif

It's downloading "Upgrade to Windows 10 Home Single Language, version 1511, 10586." through Windows Update now. Is this the "Threshold 2" update? Do let me know, cheers.

AFAIK... If you want to get the ISO of the upgrade only: http://www.zdnet.com/article/how-to-turn-y...de-into-an-iso/

If you want the ISO (particularly "Single Language") which is the OEM version (not sure if this has the November TH2 update?):
https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/techbench

"Official" Windows download (according to http://www.askvg.com/download-windows-10-o...allation-media/ this has the November TH2 update):
https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10

You want to make the ISO, I suppose?
I think this method can help: http://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/2570-es...0-esd-file.html
It doesn't require to use the Media Creation Tools, since you already have the ESD, right? icon_rolleyes.gif

well already done that before I see your reply, but it doesn't work with current ESD files it get error "the ESD file is no original Microsoft ESD file", and to do that have to made more complicated work also.

guess have to used media creation to download again for the iso if there no simple method to be found

That's weird ... I don't get any bugs for the update. Except for the flashing black screen apparently caused by my graphic driver. But it fixed as soon as I updated my graphic driver. My boot time reduced from around 3 min to 56 seconds instead o_o

it's not a good idea to apply upgrade without knowing potential compatibility issues first.

ms.windows ecosystems are different from ios, android, linux, or any other consumer os, especially in the diversity of hardware and software that were, are, and will be developed through time. while they are trying their best to cope with it to make w10 upgrade as seamless as possible, the ecosystem that they have created over the years is too diverse that ms alone will not do the job well. they still rely on manufacturers and software developers to deliver compatible drivers/software patches that are fully compliant to new os.

as a user, don't rush for it right away when a new upgrade is released. if you wanna do that, then be prepared for the worst. the simplest way is to do full system and backups before commencing. this allows us to recover if things don't work out as expected.

i really think ms should not push updates automatically because of such diversity. they should also give back to users basic controls to do manual overrides.

btw, i had no issues in apply upgrade via windows updates in my laptops (xps 15) and desktop computers (custom built).

I agree with you. I was interested with the new features in this update, in fact that I don't really like Windows 10.
I was upgrading just to take a look with the new features anyway, not to rush or anything, having bugs and problems on my mind that made me backup-ed almost all of my things in this lappy. And myself was shocked when I found that this update improves things instead.
So, basically I don't regret my action updating.
I don't have any problem with AMD, so far.

But yes, I understand those who faced problems during this update. smile.gif

If you found that this update brings troubles to your pc instead then you're free to let us know and revert back.

I feel sorry for your problem during your update. But mind that judging a book by its cover isn't really a good way.

there are several ways to do it if you're just wanna try things out, without making changes to production os. a common way is to create and use virtual machines (like virtualbox, vmware workstation, or if your windows is the professional version of w7 and up, you can use its built-in vm feature). if you must try out native hardware compatibility, you can use a spare disk. all the above will not mess up your computer os.

as always, w10 is like its previous versions, it comes with mixed pros and cons. some like it, but others don't. it's more about personal preference in general. however it's fine. we still have the choice to stick to the preferred old ones if we want.

My review:
My ram is 8gb, on idle, consumed 3GB++
With chrome (many tabs) + LoL + Media Player Classic + CoC via Bluestack consumed 7.2GB

comparing with before; on idle 1.2GB ram usage, full load 6gb

Issues after upgrading:
1. Buggy/sluggish -> disabled superfetch
2. Trouble in security tab/ no permission for own self/ for user-admin -unable to solve
3. Problem with Policy(secpol.exe), 2 windows(win 10 vs 10 th2) location app that f*d up. -delete either one of them
4. Some unknown statement popup(googled whats missing) - reregister .dll
5. Unable to install office c2r(click to run) or Office 16 in this case -however fixed with latest cumulative update
6. Defaulted windows app, and cant choose default program because of TWINUI bug -manually change extension via registry or each .extension setting

Other than that:
Welcome screen is friggin long even on ssd vmad.gif

anyway, I don't feel much changes. Only some improvement here and there that I couldn't bother

Been using this update for a while, not much problem, though there are problems...
The interface update is nice, context menu that flush with the rest of the UI, wider tile group for Start menu, snap-resize grip thingy (although I hope it can be apply to any resize situation), all very nice.

The problems:
- I have the "N" edition and now I can't install Media Feature Pack, or in other words it does install but none of the component seems to be installed properly and can't be seen anywhere. This resulted in some games required that Media functionality won't run, like Metal Gear Solid V... duh!
- phone MTP (USB Media Transfer Protocol, a.k.a. connect phone to USB) no longer works. My Nexus 4 storage no longer show on MyPC, though it did detect the device as "Nexus 4". Gonna find some solution around.

Well, as far as I can see.. the latest update of Windows 10 have some driver softwares bugs and problems and some of them are even incompatible. If you're using PC that has been released long before Windows 10 was released, please do not update in order to prevents those problems~

Yea, they may fixed some driver compatibility issue but somehow causes new driver issue. One of my friend owned an Asus G series laptop. After this upgrade, most Steam games he played with cause the game crashed and the OS auto restart. Even he has done the system restore to previous version also can't fix it. Now he has no choice but to reinstall the OS again.

That's weird, I haven't faced any UEFI problem after the upgrade. It might be your UEFI problem, not windows

Did you just update your OS? Try updating your UEFI.

Have you googled for the fix?

Try checking this topic:

my connection is slow atm that I can't browse much (T-T;)

I'm still using Win8.1 now. I was sceptical about the first release of Win10 so I didn't upgrade immediately, planed to upgrade after the first major update which is TH2.

But now I planned to wait for Redstone. sweat.gif

Have you updated your drivers? and have you tried restarting?
Do you happen to lose any of your softwares?

1. Buggy/sluggish -> disabled superfetch

There should be a settings to change the color of your title bar if you're using the correct version.
Head over to Settings > Personalization > Colors
Enable “Show color on Start, Taskbar, Action Center, and Title bars”

If it's still not working then you have to tweak it using the registry editor.
read here

Double check your version too, run "winver" in the search bar. If it's other than version 1511, you can't change the title bar color

The update is delivered through Windows Update, so I'm sure the official download includes TH2 Update which is the latest by now

Dear all,

I wanted to download windows 10 Pro x64 ISO. I'm using the media creation tool from microsoft, but apparently there is no option to select Windows 10 Pro, only normal, N and single language. I'm on windows 8.1 Pro right now. icon_question.gif

So what are the differences between Windows 10 Home and Windows 10 Pro?

A Microsoft blog post from May 13 described each edition. Windows 10 Home is the "consumer-focused" desktop edition aimed at PCs, tablets and 2-in-1 devices. Windows 10 Pro is also geared for PCs, tablets and 2-in-1 devices but throws in extra features for small businesses, such as the ability to manage your users' devices and use the remote desktop tool to log onto and control another PC.

That's weird, according to Microsoft you'll get Pro version of Windows 10 when you have Pro version or Windows 8.1
Maybe it's not compatible with your PC?
