Which division are you applying to? Audit? It was more of a chit chat session to me. The senior manager was really nice and he genuinely wanted to know me more as a person. If you’re applying into audit, he wants you to know what you’re getting yourself into (long hours / deadlines). And he also wanted to know what do you want to achieve by working in audit & EY because he said there are so many people who went to that interview unprepared and only applied because by working in audit / EY because they believe that it’s a good career path and because EY is one of the big 4 etc etc. The interview lasted for more than an hour for me. I read on glassdoors that if it lasts more than an hour, then it’s a good sign haha. But just read the questions that people post on glassdoors and you should be fine I think. Best of luck! smile.gif
*
yep audit, thanks for the info smile.gif
i’d finish the online test yeaterday and so i’m waiting for a call as to whether i wil get the interview or not.. so nerve-wrecking really

is it possible to fail ey’s personality test and would you be informed?

Does anyone else have any experience with the EY online test? Would you be emailed as to whether you fail/pass?

I saw a post few pages back about receiving an email stating that he/she did not pass the KPMG personality test and I was wondering if EY would send such an email too? so far I have not received anything yet but I just wanna get a heads up if this is going to be another 'if you wait too long you should give up' scenario haha.

edit: i double-checked on page 51, the person who posted actually replied that the firm was EY to another forumer's guess of KPMG. so if anyone have any tips on the EY's and KPMG's interview, please do share smile.gif

Why did the company states in email 'your qualifications did not meet the criteria' after I interviewed?

Does that mean my interview failed?

Or my education level did not meet the criteria? If so, why waste both our times doing the interview?
*
just my perspective
but i would think that it has to do with the interview?
your education level/cgpa must have reach their expectations thats why you were able to reach until the interview phase

qualifications doesnt necessarily mean only academic right sweat.gif

reading from the posts here, it seems that if you have gotten to the interview stage, they would have based their decisions on everything else other than academics
like your attitude and personality through your performance in the group test, f2f and essay writing (my guess is that its kpmg)

Ahh... I see. So basically when I am able to reach the interview stage, academics results won't matter anymore?

And yes you are right, its KP. I must've performed poorly during the interviews. unsure.gif
*
dont give up smile.gif if you read through the past few pages of this forum, you'll see that a few forumers were discussing failing the KPMG interview as well as what the big4 are looking for in terms of personality and behaviour.

oh and you could always apply again anyway

i had a friend who failed to get into any big 4 because of low cgpa and after working at mid size firm for a few years, he managed to secure an interview with KPMG as an audit senior recently.

PwC offered me the permanent job position instead of the 4 month one. If they offered me the 4 month contract I will choose EY directly, haha, I don’t like to take the risk.

I choose PwC because I have good internship experience there and PwC have the Industry Xplorer program for fresh graduate, which give me a chance to try different industry. However both EY and PwC are good tho, PWC just my own preference
*
just a bit curious
but is it true that the minimum cgpa for pwc is 3.5?
cause i heard from a senior and some friends that other than pwc the other firms only require around 3.0 to 3.2

Thread's been dead since May lah
So i was browsing through and went back a few pages
tbh i'm quite curious on how those who got into big4 (who replied quite a bit on this thread last year) are doing so far? write a reply on whether the firm you got into reached your expectations/how much you like working there or not if you're free lol

and also decided to compile this in case anybody needs it?

Feel free to update!

4th wk????? its month already man..
u should really call up and ask, she's on leave, but doesn't mean she's the only person hu know bout you though.. other HR colleagues whould hv known about it too and take over her task to continue the appointment tasks

doesn't make sense when its been a month and you still haven't heard of anything yet from them
*
agreed. from experience, always choose to email HR since you’ll get a quick response (latest also 2 days). and if she’s out of office, i’m sure you’ll get an automated email on an alternative HR to contact.

only call HR if you have their personal extension line, or else ar..... 99% the main line transfer you there, the phone will ring n ring n then putus

hahahahah sort of~ but if you are very sure that you are accepted and they promise u on the confirmation letter, i guess its okay tat u went straight up to them n explain to them about it?

tat is if calling & emailing are not working.

else, no choice u gotta disregard tis appointment. bye to this company  cry.gif

no offer letter = not done deal. so sadly, it’s just a bit like cakap kosong lah. personal opinion, be patient.. its hard but there is a chance.

AND it’s probably not a good idea to go straight away to Deloitte and ask coz well (i havent visited Deloitte but I’d noticed this for the other 3 big4s) you have to be a big4 employee (wearing their employee tag) to be permitted to enter the elevator. if not, you need to register at the reception and no appointment = you’ll be turned away.

Hi Im currently a full-time acca student and waiting for my last 3 F papers result.

Im thinking to get an internship preferably from big4 before starting the career.

Are you guys looking for any intern atm?  blush.gif
If so, could you be my referrer.
*
just apply.

heard stories + my observation is that referral at fresh grad level = fast track the process to interview stage only which you would get to anyway if you pass the initial screening. for interns intake - apply early (dont last minute apply, nov/dec intake you should apply at least 3 months in advance = early sept)

referrals are more useful or helpful when the person being referred to is being recruited in as an experienced hire.

hi, im just wondering if i stand a chance to get into big 4 with cgpa 3.1 & ACCA affiliate?
*
if you look at the criteria of 3.1 for Deloitte, slim/no. why? because their website ady state requirement is min 3.2

however, since you have acca affiliate i guess got higher chance. coz they wrote there d bachelor 3.2 or prof qualification.

so the chance is there, good luck and the real battle starts at the interview stage.

Is there any possibility that big 4 will reject applicant who has previously interned in their firm?
*
well, tbh depends on your performance during internship.

if you interned and going to grad (within 6 months-1 year), they will offer you if they like you + you performed

if you interned more than 1 year ago, you have to go through the whole process like normal applicant.

you’ll have a big advantage if you have interned there provided that you performed well.

just my 2 cents
this thread was very useful in my job search especially if you look back at the posts since second half of last year's posts, many fresh grads posted their stories and comments while seniors gave helpful advice

best takeway from this thread (for me at least) was -
if you take away your accounting qualification, what else do you have?
ie what makes you different from the crowd

a bit of my experience -
frankly, during my interview phases in the big4s, i can say that everyone is just as qualified as you (with or without prof paper) and some even made me feel intimidated and not so confident because they left 1 or 2 prof papers. however, i try to keep in mind that if i'm not qualified they wouldnt even waste time interviewing me right. so, just go in and showcase what i have laugh.gif

anyway long story short - one of the key reasons as to whether you'll pass the interview stage (put aside the academic qualification) is your soft skills and lots of preparation beforehand biggrin.gif

Will take note of that.
Ive been lurking on this thread since I discovered it.
Many great insights, definitely a must-read thing as part of research process before interview

I think I have an answer in mind to answer that question just need to write it down and make it into a proper sentence beforehand then im good to go.

The only thing that concerns me is like most people i have no problem in writing but when comes to speaking
Boy let me tell you thats not gonna look good and this gonna screw up everything
any advice for this? sad.gif
*
maybe you could slow down your speed, ie speak slower
and start practicing to make sure your pronunciation is clearer

so far, only at 1 of them did i hear everyone sounding like a native speaker (layman terms: sounds like banana lor)
the others just require fluency i think (at the very least you can speak malaysian english)

but hey, dont worry too much about accents though, just focus on being able to string sentences

you gotta be able to speak english, this is the MOST BASIC requirement
or else how are you gonna communicate with clients? or even your colleagues esp the foreigners?
