Hi all, i own a Morrison 4040/40c guitar for a few years now. The guitar has a defect, in which a big crack near the bridge, and i never realize it before i bought it.
i patched it up by using epoxy and it so far so good. But now after 2-3 years the crack has propagate beyond the epoxy.

I m worried one day the crack grows so rapidly and the body might "explode" due to the tension from 6 strings

Since i bought this guitar below RM400, i don't think sending in for repair is good option?

I am thinking of replacing it, but how do i dispose it? any place where i can sell cheap cheap?

Even donating for charity a "broken guitar" might seems heartless sweat.gif

any advice?

Here's my take on your predicament:

To Sell
-I doubt you can still sell it in this condition

Repair
- I thick the internal bracing beneath the bridge has come undone. The bracing is glued to the soundboard for reinforcement to resist torsion by bridge plate due to string tension. The bracing need to be re-bond to the soundboard with glue and allow it to cure for say 2 days. This sound simple but you need special sound hole clamps to the area during the curing stage. The epoxy which you applied on the soundboard do not help the cause of the problem. You can contact some of the repair experts for a quotation. If the cost exceed 50% of the price of your guitar, then you may as well buy a new one, unless you have a sentimental attachment to it.

Donate
- Give it a friend or someone who wish to learn. It does not seem heartless to me!

Final take
- If you choose to keep it, do change the strings to a lighter gauge!

yeah the bridge plate can be seen "seperated" by board already. I doubt repair is less than 50% of it, maybe consider giving it out lol.

another way is get the experience of guitar smashing like what those rockers did smashing their guitar to the floor after performance.

maybe after u did that, u can have some bragging rights.

Juicyliana has a point. Write song. Make music video of song with u smashing the guitar to pieces. Settle.
