Means must change together with Timing belt? Can I change timing belt first then later only change FEAD belt
*
Normally FEAD belt should change around 50k...if you observe it carefully, actually the FEAD belt adi start to develop alot of hairline crack once >50k. Mine last time change together with timing belt at 100k, timing belt still visually perfect while the FEAD belt adi alot of crack like those soil crack when the lake/river dried up.

Well the sign of noisy started since 1st day i put on the car. whistling.gif

I only have problem to wear it down now. but finally it seems reach that point after an aggressive drive in recent 6 months. whistling.gif Seriously this tyre can last until 70k, ...same driving style (more conservative) can last M3 and CC5 40-45k only.

Will change tyre after CNY, but won't be XM2 or those 'ECO' tyre anymore.

Happy CNY.

My car battery just kong after long journey. So my battery history now just went from best to worst.

Ramcar 3y3m -> Yuasa 2y1m -> Century Marathoner 1y1m. For me the century battery lifespan is unacceptable.

My car clocked 153k now, the engine noise is really really rough now, I can heard some tak tak noise coming from the FEAD belt/alternator pulley area during idle, with some mix of IAFM tok kok sound. Especially during 2k-3k RPM, the noise intrude inside the cabin very clearly. I heard quite a lot of Saga BLM also sounded like this, I thought my engine is 2.0L diesel engine. bangwall.gif

Let us know which areas are best to apply soundproofing when you gain some knowledge.
*
My BLM basically done whole car soundproofing except roof and inner firewall.
Original only floor is soundproofed by outsider, after 3 years usage i strip off ALL and DIY whole flooring, so i would say i 100% DIY soundproof on my BLM.

Total material cost is around RM4000, which involve STP Silver, STP splen, 3M thinsulate, STP hood solution and STP bimast gold.
My car is dead silent when the road condition is good with very minimal wind noise and water splash during raining.
The engine noise will start to dominate when speed above 110km/h.

However the left over which is the most headache noise problem is the road roar (some refer as tyre noise) on coarse tarmac,
especially the stretch from Johor to Melaka NS highway (I guess you don't know which location i mean for), almost ALL recently paved tarmac were coated with coarse surface purposely,
and the road roar is only caused by single main problem, which is handling oriented suspension system by Proton.

I find it NO solution can further improve the road roar because that one is low frequency noise around 200Hz and below, to solve it the only way is change to softer than stock suspension however this simply non exist in the market. The problem getting worst in FLX variant and above due to harden suspension design and absent of tar coating under carriage.
To overcome this issue, i'm actually deflated my tyres mostly @ 190kPa, which let the tyres to absorb those tiny bump from the coarse surface with expense of handling.

front and back deflated to 27.55psi?  icon_question.gif
iinm, our tyre psi will be higher by 3-4 psi when it is hot.
from my experience and experiment (using 175/70R13 tyres), when cold, front 31 psi, back 28 psi, when hot, it will become 34 psi front, 30 psi back.
*
Definitely, what you observed was right. IN FACT the recommeded tyre pressure is in cold condition.

my car mileage is 4X+ of your mileage.

My 1st timing belt changed near to 100k without any visible hairline crack, i don't think u need to worry about yours.

Bezza? Who needs Proton?

ASEAN NCAP crash test result have put the Bezza higher ranking than the Iriz/Preve already. Just a few points behind the Honda Jazz.

Even Child Occupant Protection is way ahead of Proton.

Perodua may have just succeeded with its first-ever sedan.
*
But don't forget Proton also succeeded with Saga BLM from year 2007.

The only thing that keep ppl away from Iriz is the so called 'VVT' engine which basically derived from the old Camtakpro, if they plug in Mitsu/toyo/honda engine, even with the current pricing it will sell also.

New Saga and Persona? Really no eye see if the engine is still the same as Iriz.

What happened to your XM2?

I had just changed my rim and tyre together few days ago, Taiwan replica Enkei RPF1 + Bridgestone Potenza RE003 195/50R15

Nothing happen, just i hate XM2 since 1st day i installed.

Harsh & noisy ride, extraordinary (idiotic) thread-wear. The tyre will get harden and you will get extremely poor grip after 40k usage in both dry and wet condition although the thread still left alot.

XM2 absolutely not worth the price, is over-hype/overrated i would say. So i just change again to CC5 as i prefer quiet and comfort ride, i used these tyres before the XM2.

Wah you had different experience on XM2, I was planning to try out XM2 after I finished this Potenza.

Previously I had using stock M3 and was really lost of grip after the thread going below half, slipped few times and one time crashed my headlights.

This Potenza did had very great dry and wet grip and also response, noise level was average, not a low noise tyre.
*
No doubt stock M3 is the worst tyre ever used. But don't waste your time for XM2, 15" tyre plenty of choices out there.

Don't expect high threadwear rating tyre can give you good grip and silent performance (in this case, XM2 is 420, highest i ever see), these two are the worst aspect of good threadwear tyre. (although threadwear rating is actually not sound as easy as that and not really can compare 2 different manufacturer easily)

Finally my turn for IAFM replacement after 160k+ mileage. The butterfly flap inside the manifold module emit gikgakgikgak noise rather than the famous tak tak tak.
