Hi,

Just want to check,
i am a EP holder but i just renewed my passport in malaysia.
So when i am going through the immigration at Woodland or Tuas, i couldnt go through the "fast lane" which is for Singaporean / work permit holder.

Is there anyone who experienced this before?
What should i do in order to be able to use the "fast lane" again.

Thank you.

Update your new passport number with MOM

Thanks for the reply.

I will do that smile.gif

But just a bit confused when different ppl telling me different things.
I google and got that from MOM website.
When i go through the manual lane in custom, the custom told me to go to ICA (Immigration & Checkpoints Authority).
My friend told me to do nothing as the custom guy already update all the information when i am going through the manual lane.

Anyway, lets see how it goes.

Thank you~

Your friends have lied to you!
I just did this a few months back too, as knwong mentioned you'll need to fill in that form and submit on their website
Remember to follow up after a week or 2

Thanks.

I would be asking the same question.. stay in johor and travel to singapore to work.

Out of topic a little,
I am looking at Johor properties.. but it seems there is not a lot of johor properties discussion in Lowyat (or i simply fail to find it).
Currently looking at Ecoworld Summer ( should be near to Mount Austin.. and there is not thread on lowyat on this)

Any comment to buying a property in johor?

Thanks.

Go experience the causeway jam once and then decide.

Well, not smart enough / not earning enough so have to stay further and go through the jam, etc.

Anyway, it is possible to create a thread in property talk on list of johor projects / properties?

On the contrary I'm not exactly unhappy - enjoy seeing the growth rate of my bank account and it's plenty enough for food - sans daily yuppie kopi.
Maybe that didn't come out right - wasn't judging or anything, just saying that the jam might not be worth the perceived savings.

My opinion is that it is only viable for Singaporeans - they rent out their hdb for a few thousand and rent or buy for themselves something across the causeway.
*
Dont worry about it.
But that is the hard truth. And anyway i have many johorian friends stay in johor but crossing customs everyday for work.

If people is already willing to sacrifice some time and sleep in order to save.. then why not?

Anyway, still interested to getting some response for my second part of question.. ie:
it is possible to create a thread in property talk on list of johor projects / properties?
No one interested in this topic?

In dilemma of whether to pursue a potential life-changing career, or not.
27 this year, plan to stay at SG for another 3-4 years then go back Msia retire.  laugh.gif

Not aiming to be very rich, I could live with rm10k passive income every month.  devil.gif
Current job:
IT developer at a foreign bank. Good pay + stable job + upcoming international business travel (solid for CV)
A little in comfort zone already.  tongue.gif
Being hunted for:
Somewhat similar but slightly more on operational support role in Facebook.
Hop increment would be anywhere around 10 - 20%. (yes not that much)
Perks of switching:
- Better reputation
- Better culture and environment (current one is pretty good)
- Permanent (currently on annual contract)
- Free food all day long!  rclxm9.gif
- Slightly better $$
Concerns of switching:
- Not that keen on operational role. Prefer to be active in development.
- Slightly limited career progression choices (compared to current job) should I decide to go back to bolehland.
- Workload and stress would be way higher than now.
What you guys think? I hope at least one person suggests me to stay.  laugh.gif
*
Sounds like in your mind you already decide not to go.

Increment of 10 to 20% as in "x" MYR to "1.2 x" MYR or to "1.2 x" SGD.
If in SGD is actually a good deal.

Your masters might not mean much, but having to work overseas in a country like Myanmar usually comes with higher compensation
If your job was to be locally in SG I'd say you can consider it, but not in Myanmar
*
Agree with all the points as mentioned by taikor above.

Of course the final decision is made by you.

But I thought with master qualification as you mentioned, i think should be getting better than 2.5k salary.

If i were you, i will keep looking around for better offer.
Or even take up similar offer (without getting bond), then jump around again.

Did hear that admiralty, woodlands that area are slightly cheaper..
HDB prices, office rental and rooms rental.

If work place is nearby there, i will definitely choose there too.
Unless one minds it is too far from the entertainment place / city centre.

if you have already found a room with 450 SGD, and u seen the room and the conditions are acceptable, i think you know what to do already.

hi guys, got question here regarding malaysia postpaid plan,

now i work in singapore and i still retain my postpaid plan for malaysia line,
thinking of changing it to prepaid or cheaper postpaid.
1. if change to prepaid plan, i still have to topup to keep the sim active (RM30 for 30days)
2. if change to postpaid i also need to pay monthly.

any idea? how u guys maintain the malaysia line?
*

Can ask them how to pay rm50 to keep the phone alive / activated for 1 year.
Other telco u will have to check.

I may ask my gf subline for me (she using u28). just wondering can the subline subscribe to any data plan when im in Malaysia.
hmm.gif
thanks . was looking thru xox website. seems like a good deal. mnp to xox and get 28months validity
do you know the price of xox data subscription ? how much for 1gb etc..
notworthy.gif
chill. not that I cant maintain.  nod.gif
im just looking for alternatives/options from other pros here before settling on 1.
I look thru jobstreet, jobsdb, monster, linkedin and others. send numerous resume.
only few apply after almost 2months.

we value for money ma.. and it is not "per month".. it is RM50 for a year.
And you pay as you need to use only.

yea. we value our money  nod.gif
and which plan are you referring to rm50/year?
*
It is not a plan..
I am just using Digi prepaid plan.. just go to any Digi Shop, ask them how can you keep the phone valid and wont be expired for one year.
So Digi told me i just have to pay RM 50 for this.

But when u need to use, make call or subscribe data, u need to top and up and pay accordingly.

Maybe call digi or ur operator for more info?

Can malaysian insurance enjoy tax deduction in singapore?
Some say can, some say no..

Basically all the info has been key in. Just have to confirm and submit... unless u have some tax deduction to declare.

JB Drive to SG, means either drive singapore car, or must be S-Pass and below, driving malaysian plate and paying SGD20 per day. unless you work shift job, and drive in and out at odd hours, else be prepared to be stuck in jam everyday.
