Regardless whether you are directly employ under SG gov or outsource company working on gov project, salary actually follow market rate just like the private sectors.

However if you are scholars (which is a BIG thing in SG) or elected MPs, these group of people can command higher than average salaries compared to us 'peasants'.
*
outsource company will find the cheapest labour they can, hence the low balling offer @ Blues89..
gov direct employment wont do that...

More companies in Singapore looking to hire in 2016: Report
In a new Hudson report, 41 per cent of employers here plan to increase headcount while 6 per cent intend to decrease it.

MEDIA, PR, ADVERTISING TALENT WANTED

The report also found that the industries with the highest proportion of employees looking to hire are the Media/PR/Advertising sector (59 per cent), Professional Services (57 per cent) and IT&T (53 per cent).

"Many companies are investing more in digital marketing and e-commerce, and often outsourcing these specialist activities to agencies where we expect much of the hiring activity to be concentrated for Marketing, PR and Advertising," said Mr White.

As for professions that will be in demand, Sales (49 per cent), Financial Services (45 per cent) and HR/Recruitment (42 per cent) head the list, according to the report.

“Sales people play a crucial role in driving revenue growth, so the demand for them suggests that Singapore’s employers are focused on growing their bottom line. The demand for HR/Recruitment professionals reflects the fact that hiring and retaining the right talent will be key to achieving that growth," said the regional director.

“In the Financial Services space, we are seeing strong demand for compliance, audit and risk professionals, due to a growing focus on regulation in the region."

True or not ? I only know once take PR ... 37% of your $$$ can see cannot touch and every year minus this, minus that  tongue.gif .
I don't see any extra qualification points on their website (married, children, Aus degree, ielts, etc) for SG PR, maybe you found something different do share smile.gif. On another note, why don't you just go direct to Aus ? If you are less than 32 there is a holiday / work visa thingy, not sure if that is still available.
*
not exactly can see cannot touch, once you're PR, and if you're married, you can buy HDB and pay with your monthly cpf contribution.
so, instead of renting property, you own it yourself..

i got my extraction from JB, and i dont have any issues with them..
they'll make you sign a form that says your MY driving licence will be cancelled/blacklisted, but that is exactly how it should be, according to the law.
so please dont feel intimidated. you can still drive legally in MY using SG licence, and if you are PR, no renewals needed.

just ignore any runner loitering around JB JPJ that tried to offer "help" and go straight to the counter.

If your expenditure is decent, I'd recommend a mileage card. My favorite card is Citi PremierMiles. Decent all rounder card & always got agoda/Expedia 6-10 miles per dollar promo.

Collect enough points liao go redeem for biz / first class tickets on SQ 👍🏿

+1, Citi PremierMiles is my main card for all the general spending + biz trip spending.

it all depends on what you intend to do with the card, i have different card for different purposes.
DBS Esso platinum for petrol, OCBC Plus! for groceries @ NTUC, and my UOB cards are just kept aside as backup nowadays.
Just make sure to clear your bills every month, or you'll end up with bad credit score.

QUOTE(CreamMilk @ Feb 29 2016, 08:45 AM)
I have 8 yrs of experience, 30 yrs old+
I might sound a bit desperate, but I have been searching for an offer for almost 1 year+
None of them offer more than SGD4.5k.

There was once I almost took the offer, the HR also a malaysia, he told me they will go for local to save all the hassle (paper work, permit, worry you can't survive in sg...etc) if they willing to pay higher package, no point to look for malaysian. Unless that person is extraordinary, very talented.
But at the end I still reject the offer because that' what I thought, too low and no extra allowance.

Now another half a year, I am still getting the same range of offer, with some allowance, and this is the job scope that I kinda prefer, hence I am quite tempted now.
*
if i were you, i'd bite at 4.5k, and slowly work my way up.
you'll have better chance to aim higher when you have experience in SG, and are drawing SGD salary, as that'll be viewed as more relevant.

titarium Fair point. I didn't quote a fresh grad budget because I assumed CreamMilk, being 30+, married, and with almost a decade of work experience, wouldn't particularly be willing to downgrade to sharing a house with landlord and/or random strangers icon_idea.gif

After all, I assume him and his wife earn a combined rm13-14k++ in Malaysia (he earns 7k), and therefore has a comfortable middle class lifestyle (car, house/apartment, etc). smile.gif
*
S$4.5K is just his salary right, if you factor in his wife's income(which i read is in medical line), it'll possibly be close to, if not higher than the singaporian household median income(S$8.7K) for 2015, which is not bad at all, and thats just for the start.
Of course, everyone's definition of "comfortable life" is different, so no comments on how much income is needed to achieve that.

Confirm can. Yes, IRAS website didn't mention wife and children must be Singaporean to qualify for this relief.

I even call up IRAS many years back to confirm when filed this for the first time.

FYI, you can also file relief for life insurance that you paid in M'sia. Provided your insurer has S'pore branch. But only LIFE insurance portion, so if you have medical plan that cover life, medical, and investment - please extract the LIFE part. Can get your Insurance Agent to help on this
*
This is new to me, will try to file this again this year. Thanks.

i've been on M1 for 2 years, then starhub for 4 years, and am on singtel for 1 year now. i'd say the connection/speed difference is negligible between the telco, SG is a small island afterall, so coverage was never an issue. just go with whichever telco offering the most discount for the phone you want.

Don't... Later they call and ask why they dig you from your current company. Better don't inform your employer of where you heading to make less trouble.

+1, and there is no obligation for you to provide that.
